Rating: Summary: This book was great in all ways Review: This book grabs you as soon as you open it and doesn't let you go until you close it. S.E. Hinton really does a good job of keeping you interested. The best part is that you never know what to expect from one shapter to another. I would give it two thumbs way way way up!!!
Rating: Summary: wounderful book Review: This book is about how life can be great one second, and the next it blazz before your eyes and could change your outlook on life. Tex lives with his older brother because his mother died and his father is never around. One day they run out of money for the bills so the people come and turn off the gas so mason his older brother has to sale something of his and Tex, but i cant tell you anymore about it. See Tex has a habit of geting into troble mostly at school. He can not keep away and when him and his best friend johnny get in troble in school AND WHEN MASON AND His dad, who came home, get on his case he runs off Lem, who is a drug dealer. they go to this on house and tex get sick and trys to leave the guy gets out his gun but tex runs and grabs it and points at him but does not shot and they leave but tex does get shot and gos into er all he wanted is to talk to mason to tell him he does not hate him now i will not say anymore and if you want to read the rest you have to buy it ok trust me if you like S E Hintons other books you will love this
Rating: Summary: Awesome book!!! Review: This book is my ultimate favorite! S.E. Hinton really gets one into the story, I felt everything that Tex was feeling. I could relate to it. I think it would be good for someone with likes similar to Tex. Horses, motorbikes, etc. I highly reccomend this book. I also wish S.E. Hinton wrote more books.
Rating: Summary: This is the Best Review: This book is the best because it is about real life. And he got shot and he got drunk. And his brother beat him up.
Rating: Summary: Not anywhere close to being as good as THE OUTSIDERS Review: This book was a bit of a disappointment. I had just finished THE OUTSIDERS, and I was hoping for something as good as that, but TEX just doesn't live up to it. I admit that Tex is a well thought-out character, not to mention the others - Johnny, Mace, Ben, Jamie and the rest, but there lacks a depth to this book that S.E. Hinton put into THE OUTSIDERS. The plot to this book is fine, but I actually found myself yawning during a few points in the story. In a nutshell, It just isn't as good.
Rating: Summary: Classically Intriguing Review: This is a great book. This story centers around Tex, a fifteen year-old boy who lives with his eighteen year-old brother on their father's ranch out west. Tex wonders everyday when his father will return. Later in the story, Tex learns that there are two kinds of people, those going, and those staying. In the end of the story, Tex learns that even life with his brother is better than life on the streets. This book is set apart by its complex and colorful characters. The book is written with dialogue that sounds like any small town in the American West. The plot takes several intriguing twists, making for a very engrossing story.
Rating: Summary: Another great S.E. Hinton Book Review: this is going to be a short review. its been a while since i read this so i dont remember all of it. i guess i should first go on record by saying that every single one of the S.E. Hinton books are great. the only reason why i didnt give it 5 stars is because The Outsiders (another great book by S.E. Hinton) is one of the only books that deserves 5 stars. i would recommend this to any one who thinks that your teenage life is tough. you havent heard of a tough life until you read the S.E. Hinton books.
Rating: Summary: This book really touched me. Review: This is one of those books that you can never forget about. This book really gave me a lot to think about, and was even better because it could really happen. It's told through the eyes of a teenage kid, Tex, growing up somewhere out West. He lives with his older brother, who would do anything to get out of their small town (they have a dad, but he only comes home when he remembers; their mom died). Tex is content right where he is, but everybody else around him seems to be changing, but he's left all alone. I don't want to give away any more of the plot, just take my word for it, it's a great book.
Rating: Summary: Great litarateure Review: This was a fine piece of litarature. Susan Hinton wrote a well developed story much better than That Was Then This Is Now, i recomend reading the prior books esspecialy THE OUTSIDERS, THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW, reading these two books first will help you to get the deeper meaning of the book. the best part of the book was the allusions allthe books relate to eachother find the allusions and it will be even better of a book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This was indeed a commendable and exciting novel. The minute I started reading it, I couldn't stop. The description of Tex, the main character, draws you into the book and makes you feel like you know Tex personally. This book constantly changes your opinion of all the characters. At one point you're supporting Tex when Mason, his older brother, sells Negrito. Then, unexpectedly, you're against Tex when he starts to date his best friend's sister. This is a story of true love between brothers and how they cope with a poor relationship with their father and each other. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to any potential readers. This is truly an extremely well written book.
