Rating: Summary: real good book Review: I think this is the best s.e. hinton book there is. it was funny, and sad, but best of all real.
Rating: Summary: One of the best. Review: I would have to say that this is the second best S.E. Hinton book I've ever read, (The Outsiders is #1) and I've read all of them. Hinton surprised me by writing so well from a teenaged boy's perspective. It was refreshing. I would definitly say that this is on my top ten list of books to read, and would definitly recommend it. Next time I go to a movie store, I'm renting the movie (though I hear the book is better.) This book made me cry more than once, and making me cry takes quite a story line. Read this book. -Nishana
Rating: Summary: Better with each successive read. Review: I've re-read "Tex" and the symbolism and story line have both deepened and made even more sense to me because of it. This is a great read for anyone living in the suburbs or city. A great escape tp the country for a short while.
Rating: Summary: A book for teens, but well worth a second read for adults Review: Never cast aside books that were written for a different age group than your own. One can find more depth of meaning from
a book re-read later in life. S.E. Hinton was brilliant at getting to the heart of her characters and TEX's transformation to adulthood
at such a early age is not representative for all teens. A transformation
to adulthood can happen to anyone at practically any age. I read
the book in about 4 hours, never aware of the passage of time.
Rating: Summary: MY NAME IS MEL, I'M 23 YEARS OLD, AND I WANT TO SAY: Review: SUSAN HINTON ES UNA GRAN ESCRITORA NORTEAMERICANA (NO HACE FALTA QUE YO LO DIGA) Y ESTE LIBRO, COMO TODOS LOS QUE ELLA HA ESCRITO, ES TODO UN ALARDE DE SENCILLEZ Y GRANDEZA EN SU ESCRITURA. NO SÉ CÓMO LO CONSIGUE, ES DECIR, NO SÉ CÓMO LOGRA ATRAPAR AL LECTOR EN CADA UNA DE LAS PALABRAS QUE DEJA EN SUS LIBROS, PERO, CIERTAMENTE, ASÍ ES. ¡¡LEEDLO!!. FIRMADO, MEL.
Rating: Summary: Best book in the history of the world Review: Tex is a griping book about 15 year old tex McCormic and all the things he goes through. He has a disasterous fight with his brother over Mason(Tex's 17 year old brother) selling the horses, he falls head-over-heals in love with his best freinds sister, on top of it all he gets seriously hurt when he acompanys a freind to a drug exchange. At the end Tex finds out a horrific secret about his past. This book nearly left me screaming for more!
Rating: Summary: Everyone knows someone like Tex Review: Tex is a hero that transcends his faults. You love him despite it all. S.E. Hinton does what she does best in this book. She creates characters with cracks and crevices and makes them become your friends. Her humor keeps this tale of brothers trying to raise themselves from getting too heavy. I loved this book!
Rating: Summary: tex Review: Tex is a really good book. First the book starts out with Tex living at home with his brother. Tex and his brother are in a desperate need of money. Throughout this book Tex has many problemslike, getting beat half to death by his brother, and gettind shot. When he got shot he almost died. Tex and his best friend Johnny are aiways together, most of the time getting in trouble. If you want to find out all the troubles Tex has and all the other action in this book you will have to read it.
Rating: Summary: watching grass grow is more fun Review: Tex is about a young man and his brother. They get into trouble but also find their way out. Tex , the name of the main charter , has a dad but he doesn't live with him. Tex's dad doesn't always come down to visit and Tex holds that against him. Tex has a friend named Johnny and they like to hang out together. Tex has problems with his friends, with his foes, and sometimes with the law. One of the reasons that I didn't really like this book was that that it doesn't live up to The Outsiders a book also by S.E Hinton. This book did not have enough adventure in it. I was expecting something very good and adventurous from S.E Hinton but this book just isn't. I didn't connect with Tex because he's not really adventurous like me. He likes to ride horses and I really do not. If he was more adventurous and liked to get inn to trouble then maybe I would like the book a little bit more.
Rating: Summary: Different all around, but still meaningfull Review: Tex is diffrent from all S.E. Hintons other books. My favorite is still The Outsiders. Mant people think that since she is a girl S.E. Hinton can't write well from a boys perspective. They are wrong. She probly writes better than most men would. She really was an Outsider. All her characters show a part of her, or a real person she knew. I read" Presenting S. E. Hinton" by Jay Dally, and learned alot about her and her books. I recomend it to all her fans. Disney made a movie of this book staring Matt Dillion. Hinton tought him to ride, and her horse is featured in the film as Negrito. Maybe you have to be an Outsider to really understand her books, I don't know. I am, and I get more out of then than anyone. I now know I'm not alone. No one is.
