Summary: simply beautiful
Review: i read "the perks of being a wallflower" completely by accident. i saw it in a bookstore, liked the square format and the blurbs on the back, so i decided to purchase it. little did i know that this would be my best book purchase of the past 10 years. i am 27 years old, and am a contemporary/peer of the characters in this book. it is set in the early 90s and the characters are juniors and seniors in high school, with the exception of the main character, charlie, who is a freshman. this story was simply beautiful. beautifully written, beautifully thought out, beautifully developed. it reminds me of a cross between "dear mr. henshaw" by beverly cleary and "a catcher in the rye" by salinger. both great books in their own ways. however, what makes "the perks of being a wallflower" different is that it is set in the current, with current worries and issues that real teenagers feel. is it melancholy? sure. will it make you laugh and cry? definitely. is this the best book of the past decade? i'd have to say YES!

Summary: feeling infinite
Review: Reading this book left me with a feeling that I have been changed for the better for looking into the brain of such an amazing person. To have been a part of the thoughts that went through Charlie's head gave me the sense that I was a part of something special. I'm amazed at how the author captures the thoughts that almost every teenager has. He describes characters that everybody can recognize. When Charlie experiences his highs and lows, the reader is right there with him. I felt infinite reading about how he felt infinite. It's a book celebrating life and the simple everyday occurances that make it special, such as riding through the tunnel in a pick-up truck or the feeling of belonging that comes with having true friends.

Summary: The perks of reading this book
Review: I had read reviews of this book but I didn't read it for a it for a long time, fearing it would be depressing. I was wrong. This book is wonderful. Charlie is one of the all-time greatest literary characters, someone I wish was my friend. He also makes the reader want to be a bit more like him, more thoughtful adn observant. This book deals with difficult issues, but in a realistic way that avoids melodrama. Read the letters Charlie sends to his friend, and imagine the friend is yourself. This book is so well-written that you will be convinced.

Summary: life of a freshman
Review: I read this book a while ago, but i was and still am blown away by it. This is the most realistic book i have ever read portraying a freshman year of high school, which i just completed. Whether you are the most popular person or the most shunned outcast, you can relate to Charlie as he tells his mystery receiver about his day to day life. I actually read it right at the end of my freshman year and as i looked back at my freshman year and i was amazed at the honest reality of it. i reccomend it to anyone who *really* wants to know what a freshman year of high school is like.

Review: A moving handbook of teenage angst, The Perks of Being a Wallflower throws every emotion from love and anger to hate and pity in the air like a feather in the wind. The first time reading this book left me floating on a cloud. So did the second, third, fourth, and fifth time....without a doubt the best read yet. I highly recommend this darkly comedic drama about a young boy to any teenager, adult, or senior citizen. This is the one book out there that will etch in your mind for a lifetime.

Review: I just finished this book about an hour ago...and all I can say and think is...wow. What an amazing inspiring story that everyone can relate to. Truly amazing. I can't even find the right words to describe how I feel about the book, but if you are a human who has any feelings at all, I recomend this book to you. I can't wait to read another book by Stephen Chbosky.
