Rating: Summary: All Black Review: Even though this book was kinda short it looked like it lasted a long time. Boys are like a pattern in her life she cant live without it.Majors: First there that Justin who was cute, you know like model ,blue eyes ,blonde hair and also rich whom she met at boarding school. Then Shrimp who was a good hearted boy. Cyd has Attitutude and taste for java or coffee.
Rating: Summary: good read Review: I haven't read this book for 2 years, but from what I remember of it, I could not put it down. It's not an intruigingly complex or unique story, but it is interesting and very enjoyable, and how can you say no to that? Cyd seems so real she could be your best friend, and her strange nature and views of the world made me like her even more. If you are a teenage girl who just wants a good, fun book to read, this is for you.
Rating: Summary: YaY 4 Cyd Charisse Review: I recently read this book "Gingerbread" by Rachel Cohn, and liked it very much, despite the fact that I was reading about a spoiled teenager named Cyd Charisse who is suffering from a mild case of functional schizophrenia. The girl talks to her dolly, Gingerbread. The girl is, 16. As if Im one to talk, tho. I regularly communicate with my philodendron.
The interesting thing about the relationship, tho, is that the reader, in effect, BECOMES Gingerbread through this communication with Cyd. That was a clever trick, I must say, even if I worded it badly.
I wont spoil the book, but I highly recommend it. It's very funny, and touching. One of the best novels that Ive ever read that was aimed at teen girls.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Review: Cyd Charisse has just returned to San Fransisco to live with her mother and step-father, Nancy and Sid, after she's been thrown out of the boarding school she had been attending. Cyd become close friends with Shrimp, her new boyfriend, and with Sugar Pie, a kind old woman in a nursing home.
After Shrimp says he wants some 'space' she ask if she can go to New York to stay with her 'real-dad' Frank. Nancy and Sid give their approval and Cyd is on her way to New York to visit her real father and his children.
She learns some important lessons about herself and her family and she finally starts to mature and understand herself. She goes home to San Fransisco and finally tells Nancy and Sid that 'real-dad' Frank had sent her money to have an abortion. (The reason she got kicked out of boarding school was because she and another student were caught in a deserted classroom and, well, I'm sure you can guess the rest! ^_^)
All-in-all, this book is an excelent book that is very well written and thought out. I recomend this book to anyone who loves to read a good book!
Rating: Summary: I totally expected more from this book. Review: This book had no real plot, there was no climax, and it was just plain boring. I bought this book, and I regret doing so because I did not enjoy it.
In this book, the main cahracter is a girl named Cyd, who I guess is punk/gothic. When Cyd's behavior gets out of control, her parents send her to live with her real dad named Frank, who she hasn't seen in about 10 years and lives in New York City. The name of this book is derived from Cyd's childhood friend, her doll Gingerbread. Although it looks like things might heat up between Cyd and her dad's employee, who is in his twenties, this does not happen, preventing anything the least bit exciting from happening.
Rating: Summary: a lovable book Review: Cyd Charisse might just be my all time favorite character. She is really creative, fun, herself. She basically makes the book. But also the writing style is unlike any book i've read. totally fun and interesting. you just want to read it all in one sitting and then worship this book and read it again ans again. there isn't even really a plot. but it doesn't matter.
