Summary: I love Ya mr. Felt
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. Being a teenager myself, I could really relate to Cyd's state of mind, and the things that she chose to do. In the beginning of the book she is a punk to the bone.
Through out the book she matured, and stopped being as self centered as in the beginning. All through the book she is a very interesting character. If you are an adult I would definitely recommend this book to you. It lets you get into that sixteen year old state of mind. When I found out that the book was written by an adult I was baffled. How did she know exactly what it was like to be a teenager now a days? I guess that is one of life's many mysteries. Cyd Charisse starts the book out being very concerned about herself, and herself only. She absolutely hates her mother for not paying attention to her, but on the other hand she gets fed up with her mom being too over protective. The aspects of her life that "keep her going" are her "sugar momma" and her boyfriend shrimp. She needed community service hours, and she chose to spend them at the old folks home, and It was there where she met sugar momma, and shrimp. When she goes to visit her father in New York, she meets her gay brother, and snotty sister. She comes to absolutely adore her brother, and also warm up with her sister. When she gets back home, she finds out that she likes shrimps brother, and is in a dilemma. Shrimp had broken up with her before she left for New York, and they are together again, but not with out the awkward silences. In the end, they decide to take a "break from each other"again, and it might or might not be indefinite.. You Follow Cyd through tears, and smiles through all that she encountered in this tale. Every character in this book helps her through the journey of becoming an adult. Even her "snobby" sister Rhonda.". In the beginning she is so incredibly happy to meet Rhonda, and she is more than disappointed when they meet. In the end they discover that even through their differences, they can become friends.

Summary: Very Good
Review: I was very superficial with this book and decided to judge it by it's cover, I thought the cover looked very cool and interesting so I decided to read it. Later when I read the reviews I realized that sometimes you CAN judge books by the covers and they actually do turn out as good as you expected them to be.

The story is told by Cyd Charisse, the main character in the book she is about 15? 16? and she is the stereotypical troublemaker teenager. She gets in trouble, gets kicked out of a private or boarding school I don't remmeber, and she doesn't like a lot of people but her best friend is an old lady from an old people's home and her boyfriend named Shrimp.
I will not go into too much detail but her attitude is very straight forward and she doesn't like fake people or people that sugar coat things she likes honesty. There were some very funny parts in the book like for example when she is talking to her half sister and she gets mad, I won't say what she said but it had me laughing for hours...and days.

I think everybody should read this book because it's great!

Summary: I think this book is GREAT!!!!
Review: While I was reading this book(Gingerbread), I felt like I knew her deep down inside. She was time after time called a hellion. Most of her family was Gutter-Mouthed around her, like her sister is always calling her names. She constantly ditching her family for great guy "Shrimp." But for all of her nasty attitude and bad actions. She is one appealing softy. Written by Rachel Cohn.
She tries to be snotty, but really she's a world wise, book smart, funny, and mind turning girl. Her mother tries to make fun plans but Cyd Charisse disses them. Her best freind is in a nursing home and calls her spoiled. She reflects , 'I like to think of myself as misunderstood.' While her mother is out of the house, she helps the housekeeper with food for the family of her mothers personal driver, Fernando, whose grandson is in remission of luekemia.
This book "Gingerbread", traces Cyd's change from a lonely girl searching for fun and comfort, darn all the effects, to a confident teenager who knows where she fits in the world, which is: chatting with her newly discovered older siblings in New York.

Summary: A good older teen book.
Review: I read Gingerbread. It's a good book. But the main reason I desided to write this review is to tell all parents who are thinking of buying this book. I would not recomend it to anyone under the age of 15. It deals with tough issues that may frighten and confuse kid's under the age of 14 or 15. If you are buying this for someone of 15 and up I would say it is a great choice. It is the story of a girl finding herself with tough circumstances. I hope this helps.

Summary: In da hook
Review: I think Gingerbread was a fairly good book. Ir reveals the true life and thoughts of a frustrated, lonely, struggling teen. This teen, Cyd Charisse, is very rebelious and gets herself into a lot of trouble. Cyd gets kicked out of boarding school forcing her to live in San Fransisco with her mother, stepfather, and two siblings. There she falls in love with a sensitive, kind hearted surfer(shrimp). They hang out a lot and see a little too much of each other. Shrimp decides that he needs his space and they grow apart.

Soon Cyd'sfamily can't handle her rebelious attitudes and constant tantrums. Her personality is often very unlikable which only makes hercharacter seem more realistic. Her family ships her off to New York City to spend her summer with her biological father, Frank. There she spends time with her step siblings and real father and realizes that neither side of her family is perfect. She learns she has to appreciate her family for who they are and how much they love her. In New York, Cyd is able to find a more mature version of herself and turns out to be quite far from the sister or daughter anyone could have imagined.

Cyd Charisse is a sixteen year old wild teen full of love and adventure. SHe lives in a wealthy family so she usually got what she wanted. Cyd's biological father is very caring but paid enough attention to Cyd. He is a big buisness man. Cyd's boyfriend, shrimp, was very caring and sweet. He always wanted the very best for Cyd. He dad a very mellow-suferboy personality. Cyd's personality was very well developed. She had a very involved descriptive character. Frank's personality wasn't very developed. He wasn't too involved or described in the book. Shrimp was a very developed because he was described well and seemed realistic.

I think if teens read this book they weill be able to relate themselves to Cyd's situations and feelings. They will recognize the struggle between freedom and protection from family. I easily related my self and my life to Cyd. I was able to recognizze Cyd's experiences to many of mine.

Summary: A Solid Good Book
Review: I was imediately drawn into the story of Gingerbread, however i agree that at times the plot was a little tired, the same boyfriend dumps her kind of story i've been reading lately. I did not mind that much though, because i loved the girls voice, and it seemed very realistic. I would recommend this book for it's voice, not for the plot

Summary: Hot Gingerbread
Review: Out of all of the books I read this summer "Gingerbread" was one of the best. Cyd Charise, a sixteen year old girl growing up in San Francisco after getting kicked out of boarding school, is known by her mother and step-father as the hellion. Cyd disagrees with her parents almost 100% of the time. Out of desperation, Cyd's mother sends her to NYC to stay with her biological father, whom she has only met once in her life. She loves her time in NYC and getting to meet her older half-brother and sister that previously did not know of her existance. The only drawback is that she misses her boyfriend back at home, did I mention her mother hates him. Will Cyd Charise ever be able to live in San Francisco again without being on the verge of WWIII with her mother?

Summary: Okay, but not amazing
Review: Gingerbread is about a smart girl by the name of Cyd Charisse. The plot is nothing speacial, she has boyfried her parents hate, gets mad at her parents, gets sent to meet her real dad, then forgives her parents. The reason this book is good is because Cyd Charisse is funny, has a great personality, and the dilouge is snappy and fun. By no means a great book, but good brain candy.

Summary: Excellent
Review: Usually when I read books i read a chapter and then wait a few days before I decide to read more of it. Only i saw a review in magazine that this girl liked this book so I bought it and started reading it that day. Amazed by the next morning i was done with it. I couldn't let go of the book. And my sister and friends also read it in one day. This book made me read other books. This book made me believe that there are good books out there. If you like this book then i must say that you should read Born Blue by Han Nolan. Believe me this book is a must read, both of them are. Take my advice, when your looking a book grab this one. I no more to say, you can believe my "wise" words or pick up a dull book and forget how exciting this book is.
