Rating: Summary: Mary Bloody Mary Review: Mary Bloody Mary By:Carolyn Meyer Reviewed by:M.Nieto Period:P.2 Mary Bloody Mary is about Mary Tudor's life. In the beginng it says that she was born to HenryIIIV and to Carolyn tudor. Her mother was at the age of sixteen when her father was ten when they had gotten married. Mary was the first child of Henry but soon after, he had a mistress, she was one of the ladys but no one had liked her because they thought she was a which for she had a birth mark on her neck that was symbol of a whicht but she would cover it with a chocker.Henry had send mary's mother away but to stay awawy for ever but until she gets a divorce with him. Carolyn knew that if she get a divorce her daughter wouldnt be able to be the next ruler of England. The king knew he wouldnt get a divorce so he had married his mistress, Anne Boelyn, Mary was now consider a baster. Anne was now queen, she treated Mary bad but when she had a baby, things got worse for Mary. The baby had stolen everything from Mary her mother, her chamber, and her respect as a princess. The baby was named Elizabeth tudor now Mary's step-sister. Mary became a servant to serve Elizabeth now that she is the new princess. Soon Elizabeths mother was beheaded for commiting adultry to have a son for the king. They say that she begged for forgivness to Mary but Mary wouldnt have forgiven her. Then one of Anne's ladys had married Henry and treated Mary very well. But then she died from havig a new born boy child that was the next king to the throne. Henry had married four other women, they were either beheaded or divorced but his last marriage was when he died. Marys step-brother was the king now but died of a flue at a very young age. The next hier to the throne was Mary she was successful to become the next ruler of England, Queen Mary. I have really enjoyed this book because, one, it envolves Medival Times, second, it is about a princess, and lastly, it was exciting. This book is enjoyable, it envolves a person being successful to their goals like Mary she had her life in tragedty but she manage to survive even without her mother she kept her self up and never gave her chance of being a Queen away. The part that I have disliked so very much is when her father had gave her up for some unpleasant lady that who treated Mary very badly. Even though her father had given her up she stood up very tall and stood strong even without her mother beside he side. Another part that I disliked is when Anne had tooken every thing from her that she loved so very much. My favorite part was when Mary had taken all the beaten up on what she was doing wrong that has to do with Elizabeth and stood strong. I liked it when she had her eyes on the throne.
Rating: Summary: Bloody Review: You say well this is a great book (even though it is a historical book). It called Mary, Bloody Mary by Carolyn Meyer. It's a type of history book. Also it is a monarchy kind of book. Mary, Bloody Mary is about a princess, Princess Mary who wasn't aloud to be queen. Her mother who is Queen Catherine, got locked up in a prison because he wanted Mary to be queen. Mary got sent to lots of places. She had no cloths. Her father wanted a divorce so he could marry Lady Anne, but of course Queen Catherine said no... The books strength is it gives a lot of facts, (real facts) about history. Carolyn Meyer wrote a lot of non-fiction stories about Mary's family. The books weakness is it doesn't tell a lot about the other queens (King Henry married a lot of another people). I would recommend this book this to people who like to read history books because this has a lot of history facts in it.
Rating: Summary: Mary, Bloody Mary Review: The main idea of this story is King Henry want's to divorce Mary's mom becuaseshe won't give him a son to rule England.King Henry doesn't think princess Mary is fit to rule. King Henry falls in love with a young woman named Anne and sends Mary's mom away and forbids mary to see her. Mary becomes a servant to Anne. Anee finally gave Henry a prince to rule England. When the new king dies, the crown will be passed to Mary, then Elizabeth. I think it was a great book, because Mary finally got to be Queen of England. But, at the end Mary dies. Elizabeth took her place as queen. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about history.
Rating: Summary: "Mary, Bloody Mary" will slay the reader Review: Yes, everyone assumes Mary was an awful person since her "nickname" is Bloody Mary. Not so, as you will understand when you read this book. As a young child, Mary was adored by her father, King Henry VIII. Unable to produce a male heir, King Henry annulled his marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Mary's mother, and declared Mary could no longer be an heir to the throne. Marrying Anne Boleyn, King Henry's mistress, did not help Mary's troubles either. Anne treated Mary very badly, ordered and persauded the king to allow Mary to be mistreated. In other words: Mary's life must be awful every day. To make things even worse, Anne produces an heir, Elizabeth. Elizabeth is named Princess of Wales, which was orginally Mary's title. Mary is forced to be her sister's servant. Plus, it seems the monarchs of England want Mary to be dead. Mary refuses to become a member of the Church of England, refusing to admitt King Henry is the head of the Church in England, and is trying to remain Catholic. With the king's temper and supporters, Mary could be killed for not signing the agreement to join the Church of England. Plus, as far as Anne is concern, she cannot give the king a male heir if Mary and her mother are alive. Soon afterwards, Catherine of Aragon looks like she is slowly dying; she is loosing her life. This means only one thing: Mary's life is in danger each day. Yes, Mary did launch a reign of terror when she was crowned queen; that was probably not wise. But it was no more dangerous and bloody than other royals' reigns. Elizabeth, in fact, excuted more people! A person's childhood also influences your behavior and attitude in your adulthood. If you read "Mary, Bloody Mary," you will see how this statement is true when is comes to Mary Tudor. When you read this book, you will, literally, experience Mary's painful childhood. When you have completed this book, your attitude on "Bloody Mary" will, probably, change.
Rating: Summary: Unique Review: Carolyn Meyer has done a great work of art. Even so, it doesn't quite make it to my favorites list. I'm Mary Tudor, destroyed by Anne Boleyn. She manipulated my father, The King. My life is destroyed... hear my tale. Mary, Bloody Mary missed a pizaazz. Interesting book however. I do recommend it to you. =)
Rating: Summary: An achievement Review: Mary, Bloody Mary is a unique novel - truly. The author expertly dips us into the world of this historical monarch with lovely results. There is just the right amount of jesting or of suspense, and the ending gives way smoothly to the follow-up book. Still, it is not a particularly difficult read. It can be taken lightly or deeply.
Rating: Summary: Mary, Bloody Mary Review: Have you ever wondered what caused Queen Mary I to rule England with terror and violence? If you led the life she did, you would certainly end up ruling the same way. Mary Tudor had a very terrible childhood. After being betrothed to a few men, her father, King Henry, decides to divorse her mother, thus making Mary illegitimate. She now had nothing. After being a princess her whole life, she was now deprived of everything she once had. She was deprived of her money, her nice clothing, even seeing her own mother. All of this was for one reason, the King wanted a boy. After the King wed again, Mary became even less of what she used to be. She was made into a servant for the Kings' new wifes' daughter, Elizabeth. Imagine what Mary had to go though. Carolyn Meyer does an excellent job of presenting what might have happened when Mary was around, right along with what is known to have happened. It is really a very good book!
Rating: Summary: Mary, Bloody Mary Review: I recommend that you read this book after you finish Beware, Princess Elizabeth and Doomed Queen Anne, because after you finish this book you will feel different about the other ones; not necessarily different in a bad way, but still. Different. This is about the youth of a girl named Mary Tudor whose father was the disreputable Henry VIII. Her mother was Henry's first wife, Catherine of Aragorn. This is about the time of her life mainly from when Henry started getting interested in the lady that would succeed her mother, Anne Boleyn, to the time where Mary is crowned queen after her brother dies. The great thing about this book is that you really get into the character's emotions and think of her life as more than history, but as someone who actually was alive and actually had to fight for everything she got; there was a time when the queen of England was treated like a servant and had to change the diapers of Elizabeth I. This book really portrays a more lovable Mary because she hadn't started the persecuting of Protestants yet, and if you are really interested in English history I would definitely suggest for you to read this book!
Rating: Summary: From riches to rags at the mercy of a witch... Review: Mary Tudor leads a normal life - well, as normal as it could get - as Princess of Wales, daughter of the hot-blooded King Henry VIII. She thrives in the lavish court life and her parents' doting. But suddenly her life is shattered by a mysterious woman named Anne Boleyn, who soon enough captures the King's heart. Queen Catherine is determined not to lose her husband to a "goggle-eyed whore" and jeopardize her daughter's claim to the throne, no matter if the King believes a girl unfit to rule England after him. But Henry will stop at nothing to get what he desires: Lady Anne, and ultimately, a son and heir. Catherine's stubbornness prompts him to banish her and Mary to separate places, forbidden to see or communicate with one another. Eventually he succeeds in marrying Anne and siring another daughter, who replaces Mary as Princess of Wales. Now the scheming "witch" summons Mary, gone from riches to rags, to the Palace to be maidservant to her new stepsister. As Mary steels her resolve to survive, Anne may yet contrive to get rid of her... So we see how innocent Princess Mary transforms into the bitter, ruthless woman known to history as Bloody Mary in this riveting tale of life in the court of Henry VIII. I highly recommend this one!
