Rating: Summary: A good book to track down Review: "Tracker" is a pretty good book that will leave you wondering at the end of it. John Borne lives with his grandparents and he always looks forward to going hunting for deer with his grandfather every year. But something bad happened this year. His grandfather finds out that he is dying of cancer and he only has a few months to live, so he tells John that he won't be going hunting with him this year. John will have to hunt by himself. John ventures to find a deer by himself, but at the same time he has to try to concentrate and not to think too much about what's supposed to happen to his grandfather. "Tracker" is a good book. It's not one of Gary Paulsen's best, but it is good. It will keep you wanting to read on to see what happens and how John will deal with the situation. The end of the book might confuse you a little bit and leave you asking some questions, but it's not too bad. I recommend anybody to track down "Tracker" and read it.

Rating: Summary: The Chase Review: A Review by Greg There is a boy named John. He lost his parents when he was very young. He now lives with his grandparents. His grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and can't do much now. John now takes care of the farm. He and his grandfather go deer hunting every year together. Unfortunately not this year. He must go alone. He sets out very early in the morning to go get his deer. He follows a doe day after day after day. He never gets a chance to kill her but he gets a chance to touch her. He was unarmed too. He sets for home and his grandparents expecting his arrival. Three things that I liked about this book is that its about hunting witch really attaches me to that book so really enjoyed reading it. I also liked how John took responsibility and helped out with the farm. I really liked how John looked at life all the way through this book. He looked at it in the best possible way. I really got bored of John always walking up to the deer getting close and the deer ran off. The vocabulary in this book was very childish, wasn't exactly up to my reading level. The characters became so lifelike to me after they described them to me with such detail. This book had a lot of relevance to me because I'm a hunter witch made it very interesting. This book was very easy to read and I was up to a little bit more of a challenge. I really recommend someone to read this book. Someone in middle school because it's kind of hard. I especially recommend this to someone who really likes adventure book because it's full of that.
Rating: Summary: Psychological Drama Review: Although I felt this story was slow-moving, it was enthralling. The obsessive drive of a young man in the face of his beloved grandfather's death reveals his deep-seated sense of loss of everything that he held to be true in his life. I also appreciated the way life and death, even in hunting, was handled--with reverence and beauty. I like the ending--it leaves room for personal reflection, and the author's comments at the end of the recording provided even greater insight.
Rating: Summary: Tracker is one of the best books I have ever read. Review: Gary Paulsen does an awesome job giving details. It gives me a good picture in my mind about where he is. The book made me want to keep reading on.
Rating: Summary: The book of the woods Review: Have you ever chased a deer for two days? Did you ever think you could cheat death? Tracker is a great novel by Gary Paulsen because all these details came to life. The protagonist John Borne, a young boy, is very considerate. He lives in the country-side right on the edge of the woods. John and his family have a dairy farm. His grandfather is very sick. He always used to go hunting with John. But this year it is different. John went out looking for a deer, found a doe and tracked her on his own. All he wanted to do was to touch it. He had to track it for two days, but never killed it. His family was very disappointed with him because he did not bring home any food, when they needed it most. Yet John had his reasons. I thought Gary Paulsen did great job writing Tracker. The story was upbeat, very exciting and there were never any dull spots. Gary Paulsen used great characters which made the book seem very realistic. He didn't say that John was feeling great after his two day hike. Gary Paulsen said he was warn out and hungry. The one thing that I did not like was the book was not long enough. It just came to an abrupt end.

Rating: Summary: A Great Story! Review: Have you ever had someone you love, die slowly? This story is about thirteen year old John Borne. He lives with his grandparents. Every deer season, John and his grandfather go deer hunting. Now that his grandfather is sick with cancer, John had to do the jon on his own, by using his hunting skills to get meat for his family. At this time, he faces the deer and must track her down. John follows the doe, examining her tracks and finding the places were the deer has nestled down. He now knows that he has come very close to his conflict. But then, when he tracks the deer down and captures it, he has a problem. He can't shoot it. He puts the gun down and lets the deer run free. The question is why? Why did he let the deer go. He was so eager and ready for this moment. But somehow he felt love. He felt somehow bad and a lot of discouragement deep within himself. He so close to squeezing the trigger but his finger wouldn't budge. As the deer escaped from being held down, for some reason it turned around and stared at John, with forgiveness. As if the deer was saying, "You could have done it, and I couldn't have done anything. Yet with no shame, but with courage you let me go." That made John feel grateful.
Rating: Summary: Tracker Review: I did not like this book because it was hard to understand and it was very boring. There's not much excitement and it drags along. The worst part of the book is the beginning. It did not grab my attention. The idea of an entire book about trcking a derr is not interesting to me at all. The most vivid part is at the end when he finally found the deer.It took him about a week. He didn't go home ofter he started tracking the deer until he found the one he wanted.
