Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: This is the best book i have ever read. Tamora Pierce is a genious. I wish she would write more books. I'm curious to see what happens to Daine and Numair's relation ship. This book was the best out of the rest of the immortals series, and I knew Daine would fall in love with numair. The rest were really good too. I reccomend you read them. There's a lot of excitement and action in all of them. i like how she described everything so well, and how her characters and creatures were so original. Daine is awesome and i wish there were more people acutally like her. Numair is so talented. Onua is brave, and Alanna is a great fighter. Write more, Tamora!
Rating: Summary: I'm struggling between 4 and 5 stars... Review: I had high expectations for this book-the other three were wonderful, so I hoped it would be really good. In some was it was-it was really great. I loved the dragons, I've loved all of Tamora's dragons-they all sounded beautiful.Lets see...I did like the end-it was a good ending, and when its a good ending, it makes the book better. I was hoping that Daine and Numair would fall in love-but I didn't exactly like the way that Tamora went about doing it. Why does Daine start being so stupid in front of Numair? I never thought she was like that-she practically is stripping! And he is not taking advantage of her at all-he doesn't want her to do that-SHE, if anyone, is taking advantage of him.I really diliked that part. And why do they kiss so much? Kiss after kiss after kiss after kiss...it gets really...I dunno, stupid I guess after awhile. I thought she should have put them in less-kisses loose something when they're "all-the-time". The darking were kinda annoying at first, but then they got kinda cute-I really liked QueenClaw-she's a great cat goddess. All in all-a good story-but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. But it was okay.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I think that Tamora Pierce used opposing perspectives to create humor. All of her books are really humerous and creative. I think that you should read this book because it is really unique, because most authors want you to feel afraid during some events but Tamora Pierce makes you laugh in those spots. This also makes it the best book by Tamora Pierce. All of the books by Tamora Pierce are really great and Tamora Pierce creats a twist from a normal authers book by changing gender roles and combing genras.
Rating: Summary: Another good one by tamora pierce Review: Wow. I've been reading tamora pierce's books ever since the first protector of the small came out two or three years ago. The Realms of the Gods is one of my favorites. It ends the story of Daine, who we all know and love from the first three immortals. If you haven't read the first three(or the song of the lioness quartet for that matter)don't read this book yet! It will spoil all of the previuous ones for you.Anyways, this one is about the climatic battle of the so-called immortals war in Tortall. It's Daine, her teacher Numair, and all of your other favorite Tortallans against the Emperor-turned stormwing Ozorne. But when Daine and Numair get trapped in the realms of the gods, it takes a long and perilous journey to get them back home again, with lots of twists and turns along the way. Don't be too surprised by the romance that pops up. Anyways, it gets really interesting when Daine starts having these strange dreams... Comparing this to other books by Tamora Pierce(who is the best author ever by the way), it's about average. Having a small cast of characters for the majority of the book keeps it from getting too exciting, though there are plenty of battles to make up for that. Wild Magic is definetly the best of the immortals quartet, and Squire is the best book Tamora Pierce has written thus far. But agian, I must emphasize the need to read these books in the correct order, starting with the Song of the Lioness quartet. Have fun reading!
Rating: Summary: a mother's point of view Review: I got the book while looking for anything my 8 years old would like after Harry Potter. It really does the Job, concerning the love scenes, I admit the kiss was so intensely described I had to stop and check until the last page before continuing the reading with my child, just to know if it was going to be o.k. I gave it my approval ¿ do you really think they are not geting such kind of information out there? personally I prefer for them to read it (of course up to certain limits) that to try to find out by themselves with whoever is on hand, before its time. Now my personal opinion as the second hand reader ( my kid does not fully read english yet, we speak spanish) I loved the book, the magic creatures, the settings and Daine's kindness to the darkings, as many of the readers do, It got me whishing for more, specially more romantic circumstances ( not kisses necesary ) there are so many ways young teenagers can express their loving felings before geting to hot kisses (and it is not the same if you mother tells you), much better to read it from a girl you can relate to. As for the sex implicit, wheter your child concludes that Daine actually was triying to temp Numair and go for it, will depend on how heavy influenced by external information she is already. Mine concluded that she was striping her clothes in order to get healed from her injuries and even making a difference between that kind of exposure and the romantic relationship just revealed. And I agree. We havent got to read any other Pierce's book yet (we bougth some but still waiting for their arrival) If this gets somehow to Mrs Pierce, please write a 5th book for Daine & Numair before they get married !
Rating: Summary: Tamora Does it Again! Review: Okay this book is freaking awesome! Daine and Numair are sent by King Jonathon to try and stop some Wyverns. When they get there they try everything to stop them but cant. Then a huge like light fills the place and Numair and Daine are sent to the realms of the gods. There she meets her mother,Sarra, and her daddy. She then learns that she must go on a terrible journey to get out and save Tortall from stormwing Ozorne and Uusoa. They travel above a giant alligator thing, and eventually end up with Daine falling off a cliff and Numair rescuing her and you know its gonna lead to somethig. Bad Numair. Eventually they get to the Dragon Lands. With the Assistance of Raksha and soe others theyget to a dragon council, get out of the Realms of the Gods and get into a fight with Ozorne. While Daine is doing that Numair is off battling someone else.
Rating: Summary: Best Book in the Universe! Review: I absolutely LOVE this book. The Romance scenes are ... hard to describe. But in a good way. I love the ending. I wish Daine had said yes though. This book is full of adventure, exitement, and of course, Love! I expected Daine And Numair to fall in love, but I didn't think it would be like this! This is my favourite of all of Tamora Pierce's books. This whole series is wonderful. I also recomend The Song of the Lioness, And Protector of the Small. The Circle are okay but nowhere near Realms of the Gods.
Rating: Summary: Finally! Review: Well, what can I say? I knew right from the start that Daine and Numair's relationship would end in romance! I've waited for this. TRIUMPH! This is a great series, although not quite going up to the level Alanna is on. Daine is a funny, and realistic character who anyone could relate to. In the third book I was starting to get bored. This book is more exciting, although I don't like that Daine and Numair are in a strange world the whole time (part of the problem with the third book) I was surprised at how Pierce formed the romance in this one. Daine and Numair's relationship is a lot hotter and spicier than any of the relationships in her other books. Which is good. The book answers virtually all questions about Daine's past. I like this book, but I half to say I was somewhat dissapointed by the second, third and fourth books. The beginning was amazing, and I believe the series had the potential to be a lot better. All the added Immortals were a bit over-the-top. Of course, you must remember that I'm speaking on Tamora Pierce's impossibly high standards. These are really great books, they just weren't Pierce's absoloute best.
Rating: Summary: An awesome book that everyone should read!! Review: Daine is a 16 year old girl who lives in a world much different than ours. She has wild magic, which allows her to talk to animals, shape shift into animals, heal them, and in some cases, bring their bones back to life. King Jonathan III and Queen Thayet need all the help they can get from Daine, Numair, and all their friends to help them win the war against Carthak, the Copper Islands, and most of the Immortals. Daine and Numair go to try and fight a new kind of Immortal, when out of no where, a giant hand comes down and lifts her and Numair, up into the Realms of the Gods. Daine and Numair wanted to go back to Tortall, but the lesser Gods could only take people back and forth from the realms during the solstices, equinoxes, and Midsummer's Day. The Great Gods were having problems of their own, fighting Uusoae the Queen of Chaos. The only choice they had left was to walk through the Divine Realms to the Dragonlands, and beg the Dragons to take them down into the mortal realms. I would recommend this book. It is pack full of adventure, romance, magic, and new creatures. If you like animals and magical creatures, you'll love the way Daine can relate to animals, even become them! Daine is an appealing heroine who helps you to adapt to the new world this book pulls you into! I hope everyone gets a chance to read this delightful book!!!!
Rating: Summary: REVIEW OF THE SERIES Review: Recently, my friend introduced me to the author Tamora Pierce. She is the author of several series, one being the topic of my writing today, The Immortal Series. This fantasy series was published by Random House Fantasy in 1992. It consists of four books: Wild Magic, Wolf Speaker, Emperor Mage, and The Realm of the Gods. The books are all approximately three or four hundred pages each. The first book, Wild Magic, begins the magical journey that both the reader and the protagonist will take. The main character is a young girl named Daine. She is homeless as well as an outcast in society. At the tender age of thirteen, she is without a mother, doesn't know who her father is, and has no relatives to take her in. Her only companion is her horse, Cloud. She has an unusual ability to get a long with animals, they hear her, obey her, and some can even talk with her. Daine gets word of a job and goes to offer her services. The woman she begins to work for, Onua, is a horse handler who helps Daine realize the potential of her knack with animals. Her boss who also becomes her friend introduces her to many important people. They help her learn that her potential is enormous and take her under their wings. She finds that her skill is a form of the "gift" or a type of magic, although hers is wild magic. With the help of a powerful mage named Numair, she learns to use her magic to heal animals as well as make some interesting discoveries. Daine is able to sense immortals like Stormwings, creatures that have feathers made of knife sharp metal and live off the dead. We learn the reason for Daine being an outcast and how she once lived wild as a wolf. Daine uses this and her friendship with the animals, known in the book as the "People," to save her kingdom from invasion. Daine is constantly given help from her guarduan, a badger, who was sent by her unrevealed father. She aquires a dragon named Kitten when its mother dies in battle. Kitten along with Cloud are her constant companions. This type of magical theme is carried throughout the rest of the series. The plot continues to hold many adventures. The setting is in a place where magic and sorcery are accepted, common and a way of life. The characters all have interesting talents as well as life stories. In the second book, Wolf Speaker, We meet the pack of wolves Daine once belonged to. They helped the now 14-year-old Daine avenge her family's death. The wolves are in need of Daine's help in Dunlath Valley where their home is being destroyed. Daine and her tutor, Numair, travel to the valley where they find the destroyed terrain and a plot to overthrow the king. Once again, it's Daine's "wild magic'' that allows them to destroy a magical shield created by evil mages over the valley. We are given a few hints as to who her father may be.Daine learns that not only can she talk with animals but she is able to morph. Again, Daine aquires new friends, this time an immortal named Tkaa, a basilisk (a creature that can turn anything to stone). Another fluent theme is that we are constantly left guessing who Daine's father may be. The significance of our not knowing her background and her not knowing her father is a common factor in the following books. In the third book, Emperor Mage, Daine is specially chosen for a peace mission to Carthak, a threatening enemy to Tortall. The beloved birds of the emperor of Carthak are sick and because of Daine's healing powers and ability to converse with animals she was chosen to go.The emperor turns out to be evil and it takes courage and determination for Daine to conquer him with the help of a special gift from the badger. There is some foreshadowing of a future romance between Daine and Numair. This brings up a new theme, love... In the fouth, and final book of the series, The Realm of the Gods, there is more trouble for Tortall. Gods pull Daine and the mage Numair into the realms to save their lives. The two feel they must return to earth, where they are needed in the desperate battle raging there. After a danger-filled trek to the land of the dragons, they make allies with its inhabitants who not only return them to Earth, but also join the altercation, along with other immortals. Daine's wild magic continues to develop, and some of the best scenes involve her interaction with beasts of various kinds. Mixed into the fighting are bits of humor. There is also a blossoming romance between Daine and Numair. All in all, a fulfilling ending to an enticing story. I feel that many of the components of the story tie into what is happening in our world today. In each of the stories, fighting and war are major factors, and looking at the current situation of the United States as well as many other countries, we are all in the same predicament. Particularly in the story of The Emperor Mage , a situation like the one we have with Osama Bin Laden occurs. One man poisons the minds of his followers and produces an excuse for a war. The Immortal Series is a great read that I definitely recommend. The books cover all anyone could ask for in a book. Romance, adventure, fantasy and more are all included. It is a book no teenager, more specifically girls, should be without a copy of it.
