Summary: I Love Ibbotson, But Choose A Different One
Review: This book has the wonderful, tongue-in-cheek humour characteristic of Eva Ibbotson,as well as the the lovable characters, magical adventures, and gentle moral message. It's a nice story, but the "surprise" ending can be figured out about a quarter of the way into the book by anyone old enough to read it and then it's just going through the motions of reading it to get to the resolution. Illustrations aren't a real big part of chapter books such as this, but these illustrations aren't very good and could just as well have been left out. I hate to say anything negative about the work of Ibbotson because she is so good and has written such fun stories but this one is definitely not my first choice and I recommend searching out her other titles first.

Summary: The Secret of Platform 13
Review: My Mom had just finished reading a book by Eva Ibbotson when my Grandparents sent me this one!
I found this story to be a Cinderella type Harry Potter story.

My three favorite characters were Ben (the kidnapped Prince), Odge (the hag) and Hans (the ogre). A sense of humor is important on a mission like this and I felt they all had great ones.

It was a fantasy that was easy to read and follow.

I have suggested it to a few friends... try it yourself.

Summary: A great book for all fantasy fans
Review: I'll be breif because I know how some people are about long reviews. If you love books such as Harry Potter and/or The Chronicles of Narnia, you'll love this book. Eva Ibbotson opens up a world hidden in a closet in one of London's busiest train station. Eva creates memorable characters and will have you spellbound. The plot is rather simple, but Eva creates a lot of controversy and action in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and I hope to read more books by Eva Ibbotson.

Summary: So Much Fun
Review: I received this book as a present several years ago, and it sat on my shelf for a month or two, until one day that I was sick and extremely bored. I opened the book and was immediately immersed in it. I could barely pull myself away from it! It is fun and funny, half fantasy and half reality, which made it even more interesting. If you like fantasy stories and Harry Potter-ish stories, this is a excellent read for you. It contains ogres and wizards and princes and forgotten islands...All I can say is it is SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Fantastic
Review: I thought this was a great book. Some of the story takes place in modern England. The other part takes place on a mystical, forgotten island. If, as this author askes you to, think what a "gump" is, you might not get the right answer. Anyway, it is a gump that opens every 9 years for 9 days, and leads to this forgotten island. And it is through the gump, from the island that three nurses go to get some fish and chips--and they take their charge with them. This charge is a young prince, and he gets stolen...A great read for any magical, ficton lovers.

Summary: Harry Potter Wanna-be
Review: It's a well writen book, and a good idea, but I think that maybe Ibbotson should have thought up her own idea. This important baby boy is told he is something that he didn't know about and they go threw magical doorways UNDER platform 9 3/4. All I can say is Harry Potter runs the magic in this world.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not bad.
Review: This book is great for Harry Potter fans. It shows magical wizardry, mortal humans, ghosts, and other magical creatures of two worlds. This is a great book, with mystery and magic roled into one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good story...lots of suspense, but predictable ending
Review: I liked this book. It was a neat story, and to some the ending might have come as a complete shock. I knew what it would be before the end, though, so it wasn't a surprise to me. It was good, though, and creative. I especially like the way things turned out at the end.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: If you want action...
Review: When a prince is kidnpped a search party that consisted of a hag named Odge,an ogre named Hans, a fey namedGerkintrude and a wizard named Cor are sent to rescue him from an evil kidnapper in less than two hours. If they don't make it back in time they won't get home again for 9 years.

My opinion of this book is that it is hallariousand the bizzare characters come up with absurd plans. I think it is perfect for all ages and I reccomend it to everyone.
