Summary: SING DOWN THE MOON
Review: Fourteen year old Bright Morning and her friend Running Bird took their sheep to the pasture to watch them graze, then Bright Morning's black dog barked she looked up and saw the Spanish Slavers on their horses riding straight toward her and Running Bird. Will the Spanish Slavers capture Bright Morning and Running Bird, or will they escape from the Spanish Slavers? You will have to read Sing Down The Moon to find out if Bright Morning and Running Bird escape or not. If you like books that have adventure and survival, than this is a book you should read. Sing Down The Moon is a Newberry Honor Book, I think it should also be a five out of five star book. I suggest that Sing Down The Moon is for ages nine and up.

Summary: How the book I'm reading went.
Review: At the first it started out when a girl was old enough to take her mothers sheep to the meadow, so the sheep would graze. The girl was up there for acouple hours then it started to rain and thunder. She was to scared to leave so she stayed untill the rain was over. She stayed under a rock, so she wouldn't get wet. When she got back to the gounds, her mother was mad and she didn't get to go to take the sheep for another three years. When she took the sheep up the next time the trail to the meadow had changed and the trail was moved it felt like. The meadow had high grass and wheat that spread over my head. she knew the sheep would like the grazing this time. She took the sheep back to the land and Her mother was prowd. Her and Running Deer Were walking, when they saw the Spanish rising over the hill to the gounds.

Summary: Sing Down the Moon: A book of Indian life and culture
Review: Sing Down The Moon by Scott O'Dell is a book with many adventures. It is about a Navaho girl from the Southwest US. It's a book, which in my opinion is a bit over average. It starts when the girl called Bright Morning is tending her herd and is captured and forced to live the Spanish ways; can she escape? This book is good for a selected reader who enjoys Indian life, culture, and hardships. It talks about Indian culture for the first two-thirds of the book, and the last third is thrilling which is the best part of the book. Also if you enjoy book with runaways like the Underground Railroad, this is just like it. They start a happy life then put into fear and slavery and try to escape. This book explains Indian life and culture while also incorporating action, but there are some faults. I think the overall plot is engaging, but the way the author puts it together made it seem dull. The book is only thrilling for the last third of the book. This book is an above average book, with some adventures.

Summary: Not a great book...
Review: I have just finished this book in my last hour literature class. The time changes are sudden, and it throws you off. It's not a good book to read. It gets sort of confusing at some points in the story. It is a bad book to read, and it has an all-of-a-sudden ending. It is a waste of time, look at the other reviews, most of them say the same thing

Summary: A Book that Is Deeper than It Seems at First
Review: I am a teacher and I read this book with my fifth graders every year. The book seems to be very easy, as the language and perspective are that of a young Navaho woman, but there is more to this book than meets the eye. The themes of personal freedom and happiness are woven throughout the book and the ending is both satisfying and hopeful. Maybe my classes have liked this book because I'm there to guide them through it. For independant reading, probably 11 or 12 year-old children are too young to truly appreciate the concepts. However, I must say that I love this book and I feel that it is an excellent example of historical fiction. The author weaves the story within the historical context without being sentemental, a rare feat in kids' historical fiction.

Summary: Supid book
Review: I would give this book on a 1 to 10 scale about a 6. It was a good story and the plot was good but the author used he said, she said, I said, etc. way too much. Because of that the story was harder to follow and made the book kind of diluted in a way. I liked this book because it a good plot and it kept my interest most of the time. It wasn't like one of those suspenseful books it was just interesting. I think that the author should have made the book more descriptive because I couldn't really picture myself in the story. Like there were only a few times that I actually felt like I was there inside the story. I think that this book was very unique in the way that it didn't really deal with like the problems of every day life. It was just kind of Different in every way.

Summary: the long knives
Review: Bright Morning and Tall Boy are in a tribe of Navahos. There are some white people who want the Indians' land. So the Indians have to go on a three hundred mile long walk because they don't want to fight with the white people. Bright Morning and Tall Boy are so brave that they choose not to go on the long walk. They hide instead because they are afraid of the long knives. Eventually they come out of hiding. The two get married and have a son. When they know it is safe, they come home.

This book taught me that long ago the white people and the Indians did not agree. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. It was so hard to understand in some parts, but I would recommend it to an older reader.
