Rating: Summary: A rousing adventure/love story of a woman knight Review: This book is a colorful adventure story. It is a mixture of magic, love and adventure. Ages 9-15 recomended
Rating: Summary: This is a great book, believe not them!!!!!! Review: Many people belive that Tamora Pierce lost her touch when she wrote this book. I believe quite the contrary. When Alanna goes to the desert she is throwing of all the restricting shackles of her life. Many people get upset at this book because of problems Alanna has with her love life. During the duration of this book Alanna forms into a new strong independent person who is able to face her future, her magic and, her past.
Rating: Summary: For Twelve Years Review: For twelve years now (Now 24, I still love this series like I did when I was 12), Tamora Pierce has impressed me with female heroines in a fantastical realm of Tortall that for now can truly be called a "man's world." However, Alanna alone stands out fighting the elements and supporting the gods like no man can. In this book for once, we get to see her real faults up close and ugly and not as the innocent childishness like before: Her dependency on love and friendship is counteracted by the inability to trust anyone but herself. It's good, but definitely not the best one in the Song of the Lioness Quartet.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed both the main character and the plot Review: The plot of this book is that a girl named Alanna has become a knight after disguising herself as a boy.She stays with the Bazhir, a desert people, and is visited by her friend, the prince Jonathan, who has been asked to become the Voice of the Tribes.Alanna helps him, but after the ceremony they argue and Jonathon leaves. I like the fact that Alanna is a strong character she does things no woman has done for a 100 years. The plot is exciting and intriguing, and once you start reading it you can't put it down. This book is one of the song of the lioness series.I strongly recomend these books.
Rating: Summary: The Woman Who Rides Like A Man- a thoroughly enjoyable read Review: Tamora Pierce's "The Woman Who Rides Like A Man" never ceased to amaze me. Though it has been some months that I read it, and although some didn't like it nearly as much as I did, I found it easy to get into, had a fast plot, and of course the reality of the characters made it (for me) one of the best books in Pierce's "Song of the Lioness" quartet.
Rating: Summary: Lost it's Touch Review: This is one of the most dissappointing books in the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce. There was too much on relationships, too little on battles... a trait that I thought would stay throughout this series.
Rating: Summary: Well, anything Tamora Pierce writes hasta be good, right?? Review: I liked this book a lot. It's a bit different from the other books in the quartet, but that's only to be expected. I thought it was rather eerie. Or, eerier than the other three. I like Alanna of Trebond and Olau. She's the perfect heroine, and the author makes everything so real. Everthing is very well written, and the characters are great. I would recommend this book to people who like tales of fantasy, magic, and chivalry.
Rating: Summary: This book was just as good as the others Review: I really enjoyed reading The Woman Who Rides Like A Man. I couldn't put it down. I like all of the Alanna books. But I haven't read the last one yet. I read the Immortal series before I read these. I have come to like Alanna. This book showed a different side of Alanna and Prince Jon. I was glad that she didn't marry Jon. He doesn't love her like George does. I can't wait to read the last one to see how Roger comes back. I do think that she needs to write a series on Numair. I recomend this book to anyone who likes Alanna and to anyone who hasn't even heard of her
Rating: Summary: The worst of the series Review: I love the series, but this wasn't a great book. It lacked real plot, and made Alanna very superior, which I didn't like.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good, but not her best Review: If you like Alanna, you'll probably like this book. I prefer #2 in this series, but anything about Alanna's adventures will do. This is a little different from the others, (having basically nothing to do with Tortall), but I did like it.
