Rating: Summary: Best Book Review: The Alana books are the best books in the world! Once you read them, you fall in love with the characters. If your like me, you may even start to yell at them and telling them waht to do. But this is truly the best book. Don't forget to read the sequel series, The Immortals.
Rating: Summary: Not The Best In The Series...but Still Good Review: TWWRLAM (The Woman Who Rides Like A Man) was ok but not as good as the other in it's kind. The desert thing got kinda boring...and the suspense was way down. Much more action was in Book 1 and Book 2.
Rating: Summary: Not the best, but darn good! Review: OK, OK, I didn't like this book as well as I liked the others in the series... but it was still better than the vast majority of young adult fiction out there! I agree with the review that said Alanna was acting too emotional and girly, but then I realized hey -- she's still a teenager, don't we all go thru a bazillion mood swings and personality changes?? :) Anyway, if you've already read the first two books in this series, for pete's sake don't skip this one just because a lot of people have given it lukewarm reviews. Just hang in there till "Lioness Rampant!"
Rating: Summary: Great series, boring book. Review: I LOVED the song of the lioness quartet, but this one was the most boring of all. In ALANNA: THE FIRST ADVENTURE, IN THE HAND OF THE GODDESS, and LIONESS RAMPANT, something actually happens. In this one, she's just drifting, and everything she does is small. Tamora Peirce is a great writer, and DEFINITLEY could have done better.
Rating: Summary: Some people Review: I think that some people get too obsessed with Alanna's love life and miss that in this book she is really discovering herself. It is an excellent book. I think that there should be a movie made about the SOng of the Lioness Quartet and the Immortals Quartet ,(Which is equally good)
Rating: Summary: What happened?????? :-( Review: I adored this whole series, but I think this is THE WORST book if it. Don't get me wrong, it's still an OKAY, but Alanna changed, I say! Now she is more of an emotional female than the honorable knight we all learned to love. She faints and cries at every turn, and acts more like a foolish jilted maiden at every turn. But all and all, it's still a fair book. FAIR because it is good compared to many other books I've read, but only fair standing in the shade of the other excellent books in this series. So I shall end asking, 'Where, o where has my knight Alana gone?'
Rating: Summary: Not the best in this series Review: This book is definitly not the best in this magnificent series. It's too boring!!!! I still love the series, though. I was recommended this series by a friend, and after reading the first book, I knew I'll have to trust her judgement more!!!
Rating: Summary: It's not even worth it's price in PaperBack Review: I looked forward to reading The Woman who rides like a man, because I had so enjoyed Pierce's previous novels. Part of the enticem ent to continue reading a book, however, is an identification with the characters. In this case, there wasn't any. There was none forthcoming. Instead, I kept on wishing they would use their native intelligence, rather than pure emotion (or in Pieces's world, the scent or essence of emotion). I actually kept on reading just to see if they would come to their senses!! I was keenly disappointed, and in the end, their fates did not concern me. That is the ultimate failure of the novel.
Rating: Summary: This book is uniquely exquisite and draws me in. Review: The Woman Who Rides Like a Man is funny and thrilling. Its wonderful descriptions captive the reader and keeps the eyes locked onto what's going to happen next. This is a book I would definitely reccomend.
Rating: Summary: An story of a woman wrenched between 2 men Review: This story is a story about a woman that is inbetween 2 different men, One is a prince that she has gone rather far with and the other is a man that has been a friend and a lover to her opposed to the prince who is a lover and used to be her employer. Which one will she go with? Red to find out.
