Rating: Summary: Good book Review: In order to read this, you should know a bit about wolves. Vivan is a werewolf that smiles by day and howls by night. But when she sees a poem next to her picture saying almost exactly what were-wolves are really like, she immeditatly seeks out the person who wrote it. She finds him and they fall in love. Aiden, the human (I don't like the phrase meat boy), is amazed by magic, but when Vivan says what she really is, half-jokingly, he takes it as a joke... Then murders begin happening and Vivan thinks she is responsible. The book is a great read, and has quite a few surpising changes. If you are like me, you want some things to be different, but they aren't.
Rating: Summary: Blood and Chocolate Review: I found the book, Blood and chocolate, a very interesting read. It covers an entire range of problems faceing teenagers today from trying to fit in as the new kid, to thoughts of suicide. There are questions about sex, prejudice, love, trust, independence and coming of age, to name a few. the book is a mixture of fantasy, horror and romance but the author persents it in such a way that a "young adult" reader could identify with the many situations that the main character goes through. The transformation from human form to wolf is artfully done. the book covers many serious moral, social and family issues but still maintains its essential entertainment value, thereby keeping the reader interested. I think it would be an excellent book for 14 - 17 year olds. This would be a very good book for a parent to give to his/her teenager to bring up some of the subjects broched in this book for further descussion.
Rating: Summary: Blood and Chocolate: a story of teenage decitions Review: Blood and Chocolate takes us to a world of wearwolves and a teenager struggling to take the right decitions. Vivian lost her father in a fire, and her community of wearwolves have to move because one of the wolves have killed a human. Vivian is torn between the world of wolves and humans. The attrective girl is desired by both humans and wolves; who is she going to choose? Aiden, the forbidden fruit from the human world or Gabriel, leader of the wolf pack? I recomend this book strongly. It is well written and keep us alert and intersested all the way until the last page. The book is built up around the theme of wearwolves and teenagers insecurity of their feelings. Who do I trust and will others respect me when they know the true me? We all recognize these feelings and Klause has put the story in an environment that we can relate to. Thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: Blood and Chocolate Review: I thought that Blood and Chocolate was an entertaining book for an older reader. This book is written at right around the 6th grade reading level, but I think its' content is more appropriate for an older audience. I read this book for a college course and there were times when sleep was hard to come by. There are very graphic, gruesome scences along with a mature sexual storyline. I admit to being somewhat of a chicken when it comes to scary stories, but I think I had the right to be scared reading this. I think that for an older reader it would be a delightful easy-read to let your imagination take over.
Rating: Summary: the best book Review: vivian is a werewolf and beautiful. she tries to blend in with humans but has no friends. her father died a year before (you read a bit about it.) her pack is in ruins and there is a killer loose. in the midst of all her troubles she falls for Aiden ( a meat-boy) who is human. risking her life she sees him and discovers sometimes you can't love someone different from you. THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ AND I READ IT IN ONE NIGHT! I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN AND EVERYONE WILL LOVE IT! P.S. the author should write another book like it with some old and new characters.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Creative Review: Vivian's a werewolf. And her pack's in a swirl of trouble after running away from humans who've discovered their secret. The incident has left a couple of werewolves dead, including Vivian's father, the leader of the pack. Now the pack struggles with finding a new leader and building a new life within the suburbs of Maryland. After the upsetting loss of her father, Vivian decides that she's had enough of her pack and chooses to find a different kind of companionship: humans. Before too long, she finds herself following in love with one. And because of her desire to be open and honest with her lover, she reveals her true nature to him one night. Unfortunately, her true nature frightens him...right into another girl's arms. Now she realizes what a mistake she had made; she has threatened the lives of her whole pack by revealing herself to a human... and yet she still desires his love and simmers with hate for his new girl. And within her pack the power struggle continues, with the victor trying his best to hold the pack together and the losers tendering a desire for vengeance. Then the deaths of occur, one after another, each eventually pointing to what the humans think of as wild dogs. But the werewolves know better. Someone within is murdering the humans. The members of the pack must uncover the murderer, before it is too late and the humans discover them. And Vivian is left with a single question: will she choose the love of a human over the well-being of her pack? This is a well-told story which has slithered its way into the list of my favorites. Instead of being told from a human's point of view, we watch from a young werewolf's. Werewolves aren't just the mystical, shape-changing creatures who howl at the moon any longer. In this story, they have as much depth as the humans do. This book is very worth reading. Over and over again.
Rating: Summary: A good book to read. Review: Vivian Grandillon isn't your average sixteen-year-old girl. She's also a wearwolf. She also misses her father and falls in love with a human. But when the relationship ends. She doesn't want it to. And when these murders start to happen, could she be the murderer? Or is someone making it look like she did it? Read it and find out. It's not that bad of a book but it should be rated PG-13 or something.
Rating: Summary: Blood and Chocolate Review: I found this book to be highly captivating. I couldn't put it down!! The Werewolf falling in love with a human is not a new concept. However I feel that the problems Vivian goes through are ones that many teens can relate to. Falling in love, deciding what to do, not knowing fully where one fits in, these are all decisions that one has to face. The story is fast moving, with great description, it keeps one guessing what is going to happen next. This book brings out ones own imagination. I think kids would love to read it! Grades 8 and up.
Rating: Summary: Similar to, but better than Amelia Atwater-Rhodes Review: Blood and Chocolate was probably the best fantasy-horror/teen fiction mix I've ever read. I found Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (and pretty much every other author of the genre) to be hopelessly cliche and repetitive. Although Klause used a common plot (vampire/were/etc. falling hopelessly in love with a human), her characters were realistic and creative, and the plot was stimulating. Her descriptions of everything from lovemaking to Vivian becoming a werewolf were deeply sensual and exciting, without going too deep into unnecessary details of the dirty little things that too many authors use. The action was fast and furious, constantly gaining speed. And now I'm running out of gushing praise, so I'll just say: READ IT!!!
