Review: Jade Green is a spine tingling ghost story. It's about an orphan girl, Judith whose mother had died in a madhouse. Her uncle was kind enough to take her in only if she promised not to bring anything green into the house. Judith can't leave her most precious posession behing- a green silk picture frame her mother gave her. She decides to keep it in her truck and her uncle will never find out. Judith's uncle's house also has it's secret. There was once a girl named Jade Green that was adopted by her uncle. After she suicided, anything green was forbidden in the house.

The green picture frame in Judith's room has arousen the ghosly hand of Jade. She hears weird sounds as night. On the other hand she adapts to her environment, making friends with her uncle's cook, falling in love, finding a job and trying to get along with her cousin. But with the ghost of Jade in the house...who knows what will happen.

I really belive this is a great book and I'd recommend people who are 11-13 to read this book. It's really suspensful and it has an unpredictable ending!

Summary: Jade Green: A Ghost Story by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
Review: ~When fifteen-year-old Judith Sparrow is orphaned, she is sent to live with Uncle Geoffrey in Whispers, South Carolina. Judith~{!/~}s possessions are few, but when her uncle requests that she not bring anything green into the house, Judith smuggles in her prized photograph of her mother framed in green silk. Judith begins hearing mysterious rumors about a girl named Jade Green, who loved the color green and had her hand cut off and bled to death as a result in the attic of her uncle~{!/~}s home.~~ Her lazy forty-year-old cousin Charles also seems to be determined to inherit all his father~{!/~}s belongings, whether they rightfully belong to him or not. Suddenly, strange events begin to happen, like a human hand playing the tune on the piano Jade had always loved, or chopping up vegetables with a cleaver. Judith is afraid that by disobeying her uncle, she has released Jade and her horrors upon the house. Judith is especially frightened when the hand of Jade locks Mrs. Hastings and herself~~ in the cellar, while Charles is outside committing arson. Then a hurricane strikes the small town, and Uncle Geoffrey, Mrs. Hastings, Judith, and Zeke Carey, son of the miller and one of Judith~{!/~}s friends, are determined to save what they can of the house. But as Judith and Zeke are left to save the beautiful stained glass windows, Charles attacks her, and Judith finds out the truth about Jade Green~{!/~}s death.
I thought that this was a great mystery. It~{!/~}s terrific plot kept me~~ reading and I couldn~{!/~}t bear to put it down for hours. I especially liked how descriptive Ms. Naylor was, like when she wrote, ~{!0~} Turning my attention to the interior of the house, I [Judith] observed the high ceilings and the long flight of stairs leading to the floor above. The wainscoting and walls were of a deep brown, and the heavy velvet drapes at the window a pale rose. On either side of the great hall were paintings of the Sparrow family, my uncle~{!/~}s side.~{!1~}
I also~~ thought that Ms. Naylor created great characters and subtly let you know their personality. I found this foreshadowing of Charles~{!/~}s character especially meaningful: ~{!0!-~}she [Violet] said, ~{!.~}If you want to know the truth about your cousin Charles, ask the ladies.~{!/~}
~{!0~} ~{!.~}What ladies?~{!/~} said I [Judith], looking about. Violet gave a laugh. ~{!.~}You won~{!/~}t see them now, Love, for they don~{!/~}t get up until six in the evening. The ladies of the night, I~{!/~}m~~ talking of.~{!/!1~}
My favorite part of the book was when Jade Green~{!/~}s hand saved Judith from being raped and/or murdered by her cousin. I thought that it was a good surprise ending. It was interesting that Ms. Naylor would make Jade~{!/~}s ghost good, although it is understandable that Jade wanted revenge on Charles. I also liked it when Judith and Zeke went picnicking at the beach. The way Ms. Naylor depicts the chemistry between the two is amazing. Although Ms. Naylor does not~~ usually write mysteries, I can only hope that she writes another one. Fans of her other books (including the Shiloh series and the Alice series) will definitely want to read this book.~

Summary: A great ghost story!
Review: Jade Green: A Ghost Story is another good book by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, and it's a great ghost story!

15 year old Judith's parents have both died, her mother in the madhouse, so she goes to live with her uncle. He said one strange thing, however - not to bring anything green. She can't part with a small, green silk frame that her mother gave her, however, so she takes it secretly.

Soon after Judith reaches her new home, strange things begin to happen - she hears of a girl, Jade Green, who died by her own hand in the same house, 3 years ago. Terrifying things begin to happen, and she doesn't know what to do!

A romance with the boy next door, a new job, and avoiding her threatening, grown cousin, complicates things further, and she wonders if things will ever be all right.

This was a great book, with an exciting plot, well developed characters, and things that were truly scary! I'd recommend this for ages 12 and up.

Summary: Jade Green: A Ghost Story
Review: Both of young teenage Judith Sparrow's parents are dead, her mother locked in a madhouse. Leaving orphan Judith no where to go until her wealthy Uncle Geoffry adopts her into his home full of ghostly secrets. The only condition was that Judith bring nothing green into the house. However she couldn't bare leaving her most prized possion, her mother's picture surrounded by a green silk frame, with her.
After disobeying her Uncle's one rule, Judith quickly learns what a big mistake that was when scary, unexplainable things begin to happen. Judith soon realizes that she is being followed by the ghost of Jade Green, a girl her age who took her own life. She sees heart-stopping ghostly sights and is too scared to sleep at night for she never knows if the ghost of Jade Green is powerful enough to take Judith's life or drive her insane..

This story is truly a spine-tingler, I read it all in one night and was constantly looking over my shoulder the whole time. Definatly an amazing book and also down right scary! A must read!

Summary: Jade Green
Review: Jade Green. A ghost story of a recently orphaned girl named Judith Sparrow who moves to the South to live with her only remaining relatives. There is one rule she has to living in this house--anything the color green is forbidden. But Judith just cannot part with one of her received gifts from her mother--a green picture frame, so she breaks this promise and hides it in the bottom of her trunk. Eventually strange things start to occur, and she learns the horrors of a girl named Jade Green who used live there.

I thought this book was especially interesting and I just could not put it down! It is not your average typical ghost story, so the ending is completely unpredictable. Have you ever heard a ghost story that forbids the color green? The time period this takes place in is in the recent past, so some every day teenage activities are modified--this also spiced up the book. For example, Judith finds a job working in a bonnet store as opposed to a clothing store. Judith is just an adolescent learning to grow up in a new home just like most kids today do. But, she is living with family she has barely met and a secret to discover. If you are interested in horror created within reality then you will definitely like this book.

Summary: Jade Green
Review: "Jade Green," she answered. "She's there, they say. If you haven't seen her yet, you will"

When Judith Sparrow becomes an orphan and goes to live with her uncle, cousin, and cook, strange things begin to happen. Her uncle warns her not to bring anything green into the house. Then, she is told by some of the gossiping girls in her town that not so long ago, a girl, about her age, murdered herself in the very room she is sleeping in. But then again, maybe it never happened and the only reason she's hearing scratching in her closet is because she's going insane like her mother. This story is full of twists and turns until the very end (and especially the end!)
I loved this book because it captured my mind and wouldn't let it go until I had turned the very last page. From the first to the final page you are in the book hearing the piano in the middle of the night, seeing the ghost hand struggling across Judith's floor, and feeling the shivers running down her back. It is a must read!!!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interesting in a quick but awesome read. It is a great book, even for those who are not a big fan of ghost stories. This book will amaze you, whoever you are!

Summary: A Spooky, Scary Story
Review: Jade green semmed like an interesting book. As I looked among Naylor's Alice books, this one caught my eye because some of my favorite stories include; mysteries, ghosts, and comic stories. After I read the book jacket, it was a keeper! Although I liked the story, I did not like the language they used. In Jade Green they used mostly Old English and I'm used to more Contemporary English.

Judith Sparrow is told not to bring anything having the color green to her uncle's house. Judith thought carrying her mother's picture in a green picture frame would not cause any problems. Harmless? Guess again! The frame wakes up the ghost of Jade Green, who chopped off her hand with a claever.mysterious things begin to happen. If you want to find out more, don't leave it up to me to tell you, get a copy of Jade Green today.

i give Jade Green four and a half stars. I really enjoyed the suspense story written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. I think this is one of my favortie books written by this author. In my opinion, I believe that teenagers between the ages of 12-14 would enjoy this book.

Review: This book was kind of boring. But I really liked the words the author used. The way she wrote made me feel like I was dragged into the story. I felt like I was taking a place in the story.
