Summary: T''was Okay...I suppose
Review: It was an alright book, for a bit of light reading. I'm twelve and I like fantasy novels, but this one didn't really do what it could have done. It had a lot of potential, but hasn't done anything about it. Hopefully the 2nd, 3rd and if I could be bothered by then 4th book will have more of a storyline. I would DEFINATELY reccomend this book if you are prepared to read the other books in the series before you get a storyline. So, really, it was a great introductory book.

Summary: Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. It's about this girl who wants to be a knight and has to pretend to be a boy. She undergoes hardships such as a bully, a magical illness, and fighting demons. Still, she is determined to become a knight. As one of the prince's best friends, she works hard to keep her secret and earn her shield. Her friends, including nobles, the prince, and the King of Thieves, help her in achieving her goal. But someone is out to get Prince Jonathon, only heir to the throne. Can she save her best friend?

Summary: An Enjoyable Read
Review: This book is about Alanna of Trebond and her journey towards becoming a knight. In the kingdom of Tortall only men are allowed to become knights. Alanna disguises herself as a boy and switches places with her brother, Thom, in order to become a page. This book covers the four years that she is a page. You experience Alanna's conflicts, physical, emotional, and mental, since it is told from her point of view. I enjoyed this book very much. The fact that it contained many exciting adventures and that there was a female heroine increased my interest in the book. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy books packed with excitement.

Summary: One of my favorite Fantasy books
Review: The first Tamora Pierce book that I ever read, this book grabs you and pulls you in. Alanna is a young girl of noble birth, who doesn't want to become a lady. What she wants is to be a knight of the realm, so she switches places with her twin brother Thom, and goes to the Corus, the capital of Tortall. She must dress, talk and act like a boy to avoid being found out. She must overcome many obstacles, her lacking swordmanship, her fear of her gift, and her changing body. She makes friends and enemies, saves lives and does many amazing things. Alanna is a wonderful heroine because she is so human, she has her flaws and her strengths, a temper, but she is fiery and determined all the way. This is a definite MUST READ!

Summary: So good I could not put it down
Review: Hi, this is one of the best books I have ever read! At first it was a little slow but it definitely picked up. If you love fantasy, you are likely to enjoy this book. I haven't read anymore Alanna books but have one on order. I find it quite cool that she dresses up as a boy and trys to become a knight when her brother goes to learn magic. It gets even more difficult to hide her identity as a girl when she starts to go through womanhood (don't worry, it is only a little bit). She has to do so many things she never can rest; well that is what it seems like. So I would really, really recommend this book. Also if you love the series, try the Wild Magic series and if you love those then go on to the Protector of the Small series. Oh, and one more thing, if you read the Alanna series read them in order. If not, you will not know what happend in the previous books. I know because I have done it (it doesn't work).

Summary: Knighthood, with a Magical Twist
Review: This is one of Tamora Pierce's best books. The First Adventure is full of adventure, describing Alanna's life.
Alanna is meant to learn how to be a lady, and her brother is meant to be a knight. However, they go off on their own. Alanna becomes a knight, and her brother a scorcerer.
I recomend this to young adults. Especially those who love adventure and magic. If you like this novel, I recomend the rest of the series. They are as follows:

In the Hand of the Goddess
The Woman who Rides like a Man
Lioness Rampant
