Rating: Summary: Adventure for Girls Review: This book is a must for anyone who likes a little dreaming every now and then. Have you ever just wished that you lived in the middle ages with knights and kings and damsels in distress? Well, except for the damsel in distress part. If your a girl, you know how you hate to be treated differently then guys. Supposedly, their smarter, faster, more creative then girls. Alanna, the heroine of this story doesn't like being a girl, doesn't like having to sew and walk slowly and be polite. She likes to hunt and shoot like a boy. It's bad enough at home with her twin brother Thom, but then, suddenly, her father makes plans to send her to a convent to learn to become a lady while her brother goes to the royal palace to become a knight. Alanna and Thom switch places, saying that their twin boys and Alanna goes off to learn the fighting arts. You can be sure that she has a lot of adventures and makes a lot of interesting friends as the story unfolds. I first read this book when I was around ten and, now, four years later, I still turn to this book if I'm in the mood for a comfortable, thought-provoking read. It's also comforting when being a girl places obsacles in my way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
Rating: Summary: An absolutely fantastic book Review: Alanna: the First Adventure is one of the best books I have ever read. I read it about five times and loved it. Alanna has a great spirit to dare to become a knight when girls are forbidden to! If you love this book, read the other ones in the series (Song of the Lioness Quartet). This is a great book for everyone, especially girls
Rating: Summary: An excellent adventure that everyone must read. Review: when I first picked up this book I had no idea what kind of an adventure I was in for. Allana's life is exciting, wonderful and confusing all at the same time. I loved all of her adventures and know that others will also
Rating: Summary: THE MOST EMOTIONALLY REALISTIC BOOK! Review: I loved this book. I still read it everyday, I'm hooked on to it!!! Wish I lived back in those days with The Gift, knights, so on...
Alanna experienced everything real, accept for the sorcery mind you, A girls life excellently portrayed
Rating: Summary: Terrific! Smashing! Realistic Emotions! Review: This book was great, I read all four parts and can really relate to Alanna/Alan of Trebond.
Why are girls always stereo-typed to be the weaker sex!!!!! In this thrilling novel------I could not put down-------Alanna proved that girls can do better under extreme pressures!
Great Writing Ms. Pierce
Rating: Summary: One of the best boooks I`ve ever read!!! Review: This book was so entertaining, that I just couldn`t put it down. It made me sad to see the Alanna:the first adventure, end. I love the adventure and mischief that Alanna gets into. I keep thinking she`s going to get caught. The magical theme of the book pushed my intrest more. Reading this book makes me read the others in the quartet. I must find out what happens. I strongly suggest you read this book!!
Rating: Summary: Maybe again, but certainly never before! Review: Alanna is a stubborn,idealistic,pre-teen who really should have been born in the '80's! But in other ways her fantasy world of magic and adventure is really the perfect place for her. Trapped in a place where girls are, in her opinion, not allowed to do ANYTHING fun,(like fenceing or archery!), she decides to break the rules and switch places with her twin brother,Thom, so he can be trained as a sorcerer,
and she as a knight. Little does she know what the
fuuture has in store for her! (Such as a rendezvous with the King of the Theives, a little
run-in with an evil sorcerer,and a few death-dealing demons!!!!!)

Soshe switchs places with her twin brother.she acts like a boy untils she is out of training. But she also has a healing gift. Alanna goes throw many adventuers in the process of becoming a knight.
Rating: Summary: A must-read for girls intrested in fantasy. Review: When I first found this book and started reading it I couldn't put it down. I read the first two books of the series in one night. After unsuccesfully trying to find hardback copies of the books, I was glad that they were republished in paperback. This was the first fantesy series I had found with a girl as the main charecter. I really love the whole series and think for girls ages 10-16, these books are a must-read
Rating: Summary: An engrossing, amusing tale of a young girl and her dream Review: I first read this book in the seventh grade seven years ago; I was twelve and I had just discovered the fantasy genre. "Alanna: the First Adventure" was the first fantasy book I read that has a strong, yet compassionate, female character. In the first book of the series, Alanna and her twin brother, Thom, defy Fate (and their father!) in order to follow their dreams--Alanna's to become a knight of the Realm, Thom's to become a sorcerer. With the reluctant aid of their guardian, the two switch places...and their lives are forever transformed. Tamora Pierce is a wonderful, imaginative author, and she has created a tale packed with fun and adventure. I enjoyed every minute of "Alanna: the First Adventure"! This series is also an excellent way to enter the world of fantasy fiction: it is interesting without being overly complicated in politics and magic spells
