Summary: Excellent book for young girls who enjoy being different!
Review: This book has a lot to say about traditional gender roles in a way that can be easily understood by young girls. A number of "why" questions are addressed, and the main character has to be savvy, tough, and accept being a female to boot. Great read!

Summary: BRILLIANT!
Review: Of all the books I've ever read, this book and the other three in the Song of the Lioness series, are my favourites. Alanna is a brilliant heroine, the best of all I've ever read about. P.S.: look out for Tamora Pierce's new series 'Protector of the Small', about a young noble girl, Kel, who starts to follow in the footsteps of her hero (Alanna the Lioness). Can't wait till that's published!

Summary: An awesome book!!
Review: I love all of Tamora Pierce's books and I think she is a great writer. This one is no exception and I am awaiting the next book in her new series. Whoever hasn't read ALANNA definitely should. You'll get hooked!

Summary: This is a tire-less book!
Review: I have only loaned this book from the library, but I read it around 8 times, and I am still not tired of it! Tamora Pierce writes in a really realistic manner, and I know that anyone who reads this book will love it as much as me.

Summary: What you've all been looking for!
Review: I remember standing in the library staring at the cover of this book when I was much too young to be able to read it. I checked it out anyway but only got through the first couple of pages . . . yet somehow the image of the girl-knight stuck with me and made me search out the same tantalizing book cover years later. And now after devouring every book Tamora Pierce has ever written, I can tell you that THIS BOOK is the one you've been waiting for. Somehow this book managed to be exactly whwat I'd always hungered to read. I couldn't design a better playground for my imagination if I tried. It's just amazing how Ms. Pierce knows exactly what her readers want in a book and a heroine. If you like this book or the rest of the Tortall books e-mail me sometime.

Summary: Enjoyable read.
Review: Not a deep book, but great fun to read. The author really describes the magic well. I'm 11, and I enjoyed it very much, and will look for more books by this author.

Summary: One of the best books ever written!!
Review: I checked this book out of the library when I was in fourth grade, and I loved the whole series!! A year later I bought the whole Lioness series and the Immortals series!! I was into the book by the end of the first page! Read it!!

Summary: BRILLANT
Review: I first read this book about 8 years ago. I'm nearly 21 now and I find the escapism still gets me every time. It took me ages to find the other three in the series but when I got them I took 2 days to read them all. The attention to detail such as the training Allana does is excellent as is the vivid descriptions of the setting, all of which helps you BECOME Allana. REad it,, thats all I can really say.

Summary: This is so cool and good!
Review: Alanna is a girl that becomes a knight by disguising herself as a boy at first. She is a great role model for girls and I love this book. I never used to really like books involving medieval times and stuff but now Medieval times are my most favorite time period ever besides now. If you haven`t read this, you should because people of all ages except young young kids will like this, I garauntee, if I knew how to spell that word. It is great and I read both series, the Lioness Quartet and The Immortals, by the end of the school year. Alanna is just so cool, I try in every way to be stubborn and go for what`s right, just like her. Daine is cool, too, in the Immortals series, but honestly, I think Alanna is cooler. It`s just so tragic at what happens to Alanna`s cat, brother, and lover in one of those books, I forget. But the books are just so cool and I`m glad I am not the only person that reads good books!
