Rating: Summary: I love this whole series !!! Review: This series is the series that got me into fantasy books...LONG LONG ago...I love the books..they're so interesting and just plain wonderful! I've actually read the series 9 times over lol. I'd like to thank Tamara Pierce for these books...This series is deffinitely my favorite series of books.
Rating: Summary: This book was great! I liked the other 3 books better. Review: This is a really cool book. Alanna is feisty and full of determination. This series really starts to get great in the other 3 books. That's where all the action takes place. I'm not saying that there's no action in this book, just not as much as in the others. I urge anyone who reads this to check out the other 3 books as well. Also take a look at The Immortals series. They're great books, too!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Timeless. Review: I think this book is awesome!!! I remember just passing through the library and randomly grabbing a book. It happened to be this story.... and before I knew it I was hooked. And just imagine how cool the whole setup would have been to a girl-- I mean, a female knight! The people I have run into that have read this book also have loved it. I think it's a great story to introduce to girls because the heroine's a tough young woman who they can kind of look up to.
Rating: Summary: I read it over and over. Review: This is one of the best books I have read. I got it for my Birthday last year and after I read it I searched my library for the others. Unfortunatly they wern't there but I found them last christmas and I have read the series 3 times already and am reading it again. Alanna is a strong character and she is very brave. She disguises herself as a boy so she can become a Knight. I really sugest you read this book.
Rating: Summary: I love this book Review: ahh...it's so refreshing to read something that actually involves a female knight..ha who would have thought of that? I love this whole series so much. I admire Alanna's audacity, her wit, and her abilities. My favorite character has to be the "crooked" George Cooper though...I love the charmers. The book was an easy read but the story was really enjoyable. I could read this one over and over again. It's one of those books where upon finishing it you just sort of sigh and think about it for a few minutes (well at least that's what I do). I guess one could call it a very satisfying book. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, and the rest in the series.
Rating: Summary: An EXCELLENT book! Review: This book is one of my favorites! It is very well written and the characters really come to life. The fact that Alanna wants to be a knight and will do anything to get there really tells you a lot about her. A must-read!
Rating: Summary: Hallelujah!! Finally! Review: Alanna of Trebond is a young girl who disguises herself as a boy and goes off to the palace to become a knight. Tell me, is that not a great subject to write story about? I am telling you, if you haven't read this book yet, you will kick yourself in your little behind for what you are missing. Wonderful work, Tamora Pierce!!
Rating: Summary: A great book, full of action! My favorite book! Review: This book is about a girl who wants to be a knight. The only problem is that the last woman knight died over 100 yrs ago! Alanna of Trebond goes to the castle learning about war, herself, and being a woman knight, but even as a page in the castle she has enemies. Ralon of Malven the bully at the castle choses "Alan" to beat on, the overly charming Duke Roger of Conte',and the chance that someone will find out she is a girl. Can Alanna triumph over over these opponents with the help of her friends. Will she find herself the squire of the prince or the washout of the palace? Find out in the first book of Alanna's adventure!
Rating: Summary: The most important books I've ever read Review: I first met Alanna a long long time ago, when there was only one book. I will never forget arguing with my school librarian over who would get to read the second book the night that it came in. She let me go first, and I brought the book back for her before first period the next day. I breathlessly awaited the release of the others, and have had hardback copies of all of them that I have carried with me for over a decade now. I've read them countless times: in a sandstorm in Nevada, on rocky mountain peaks, in the depths of the Grand Canyon, and I've read them rainy days in the mountains here at home. These books and I have been on many adventures together, and every time I open them I learn from the folks inside. Time and time again, good old patient George's wisdom has helped me understand, appreciate, and deal lovingly with the Alannas in my life - I have never read of a greater hero than he. These books have a lot to say about facing challenges and accomplishing what you want to in life, but the greater message is to pick your challenges wisely. It's easy to get so caught up in chasing a dream that you lose sight of what's really important, what you will take away with you when the adventures are over. Remember that in the end, Alanna's biggest challenge is not saving Tortall, but is learning to love and to allow herself to be loved. When the adventuring is over, what you're left with is your memories and the people you have to share them with. Alanna teaches us that learning how to love is the most difficult and greatest adventure of all. If you read this, Mrs. Pierce, know that you've been an integral part of growing up for a lot of us. The most important answers I've found were all inside the books all along, waiting for me to understand as I lived and grew. Thank you. Here's hoping that I manage to tame a Lioness of my own some day.
Rating: Summary: I just love this book, it's the best ever written! Review: I don't know how many times I read this book, no all four of them! I read it for the first time when I was in 5th grade, and I still read it when I fell like it, and I'm now 17! I remember taking the book to all my classes and reading it under the desk. When I then moved to Tokyo I took it, of course, with me. This book envoked a feeling in me, I can't describe but since I read it, my greatest wish is to become a writer by myself and to fascinate people like me!
