Rating: Summary: A wonderful, exciting book! Review: This book is great! I love how Alanna wants to do something that only men are allowed to do, and does! Tamora Peirce is a great author, if you like her, also read Circle of Magic, the Series, starring Daja, Sandry, Tris and Briar! Back to the book I'm reviewing: It's great! Read it!(reccomended for GIRLS ages 9-16)
Rating: Summary: I Love Book's by Tamora Pierce Review: I was givin this book by my mother... breathtaking! I love this book. I read the whole seiries twice. Tamora Pierce is an amazing author. Her books are rich with imagination. I fell in love with many of her Characters. After I finished this seiries I read every other availiable book by Pierce, but these books remain my favourites. This book is a masterpeice. Well done!
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books Ever Written Review: When I started reading this book I thought it was the most boring book on the face of the Earth. I gave it a chance anyway. Finally it got to me and I love all of Tamora Pierce's books. Her style is very unique and the way she hooks her books to you is especially great. Ms. Pierce uses adventure and romance to grab you. I personally recommend you to read the entire series and every other book she has written.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I really loved the whole story. After reading the immortalseries by Tamora Pierce I couldn't wait to read this. The descriptionis wonderful and the characters with decent flavor. Although, the ending was a well written one I thought Tamora could have come up with a slightly longer and better ending.
Rating: Summary: Can't Get Enough of Alanna Review: Alanna: The First Adventure is the first book I have ever read of Tamora Pierce's and is probably one of the best books I have and ever will read. I must admit, before Tamora Pierce I have never been a huge fan of fantasy. However, thanks to Tamora Pierce I have certainly changed my mind. The first book of the Song of the Lioness quartet is probably my favourite because everything begins in it. At the very beginning Alanna proves to be a very likable character: stubborn, conscientious, funny and nice. As it is impossible for girls to become knights she desguises herself as a boy and sets out to become a knight in the palace in Tortall. She makes good friends with important people, such as Prince Jonothan and the King of Thieves, George. She also makes enemies, such as Ralon and she despises Duke Roger of Conte, without any reason. As well as this she finally overcomes her fear of her magic and because of this she saves one of her closest friends. The end of the book isn't all resolved but her secret is discovered by Jon while fighting the Ysandir. However, I've got six words of warning: THIS BOOK WILL GET YOU ADDICTED!
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Book of All Time Review: I am 16 years old and i flip through this book daily to reread my favorite parts. I had to buy the book twice because my first copy fell apart due to over use. Mrs. Pierce is an excellent author if she is able to write a book like this, i wonder often if Tortall exists and she has visited it. The characters are perfectly described and developed and she even weaves magic into her story without making it seem unreal. I still find myself wondering if i have the Gift... I did not enjoy the Wild Magic Series but all the Alanna books are excellent.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling beond belif Review: This is one of the best books I ever read. It takes the idea of a court ruled by men and adds a woman who wants to do what men do. However, she cann't because no one will let her. So, taking matters into her own hands she disguises herself as a boy and begins her training for knight hood as a page. Of course she incounters many difficalties but she continues on and earns many peoples respect. This is one of my favorite books and Tamora Pierce is my favorite author. This book keeps you turning the page and draws you into the story.
Rating: Summary: Alanna: The First Adventure Review: This story is one that will capture your heart! I LOVE Tamora Pierce and recommend ALL of her books, especially those placed in Tortal! I enjoy the description of hardships and joys in Alanna's life. Even in a fantasy world you are able to relate to this growing heroine! She's even present in other series where someone else is a main character! I LOVE Alanna!
Rating: Summary: *Lost for words! * Review: Blimin' 'eck, i just picked up this old book lying around the house and before i know it, i've read and finished one of the most inspiring, soul touching, i wanna be dead books i have ever read. I have only just stopped crying after finishing it and i am on the hunt for the others. This is the best example of womanly strength i have ever encounted in all my 15 years, it should be for older people but i wouldn't want to deprive anyone of this perfect imitation of my own motto, "I am my only master". This book has gone off the star scale and gives you that "i wanna be dead and come backs as a female knight, masquerading as a male knight" feeling, don't ya think? When i saw a sunset for the first time, or smelt freash spring flowers, or saw a family reunited after 60 years, i said to my mother, "could there be anything more beautiful?" she replied no. Well i beg to differ. Strength in a woman is like jam in a jam dougnut, absolutly breathtaking! An outstanding creation, god himself could have done no better!
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT! Review: I thought this book was absolutely wonderful, especially since I've read the other three. I never thought I would have ever begin to love a book soooo much! I still can't get over it. The way it all fits together, but yet how unpredictable, and mostly how BELIEVABLE it is, it just shocks me! I began to realize how much I adored it when I read the Immortals series, which I didn't think was as good. Alanna is my complete and utter heroine, and I can't believe she had so much courage to do it! The way she takes all the deaths, even though the people are sooo close to her, and the way she struggles to keep her secret, and her friends and lovers, it just overwelms me! I could sit here for the rest of my life, just reading them over and over again. Whenever you try and explain to someone what the Gift is, or how she came across her many charms, its virtually impossible! But the way Pierce does it, I understand the world so well, and it really seems real, like there really is something out there, or some place, how she describes it! OK, OK, so maybe I'm nattering on a bit, but I just can't ignore it! It is just so wonderful! I could never read a better book! I adore Alanna and all her friends, and I think George is wonderful! I also adore the way she carries on as a woman in other books, just doesn't drift away, because she can't! She is my life's heroine, and I will never forget her!
