Rating: Summary: The first book of the most wonderful series ever made! Review: Alanna of Treebond starts her magical adventure in thiswonderful book! This book starts the series of the four best books Ihave ever read and probally will read! This book is about a 10 year old GIRL who wants to become a woman knight of her country Tortal. It all starts when her and her bother switch places.[Her brother Thom wants to become a sorcerer. He hates fighting!] Alanna on the other hand hates magic and her GIFT. She learns the fighting arts quickly. Thom wanted to be a sorcer soo bad that he agreed. This would mean Alanna would go to the castle, as a boy,and learn to be a knight. From here her journey continues by making many friends[even with the prince] and by working VERY hard! I RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANY GIRL FROM 10 -13!IT IS THE GREATIST BOOK EVER!

Rating: Summary: THE BOOK TO SET THE STANDARDS Review: Alanna was the first science fiction/fantasy book that I ever read, and since then I've read it at least one thousand times! Before I buy a book now, I think of Alanna, and that's how I judge it. If it's not as good as Alanna, then it's not worth buying. The tale was marvelous and well told, and no one but Tamora Pierce could have pulled it off. I've read all of her books, and am eagerly awaiting the next books in the Tortall serries. If you haven't read Pierce's work, then you just haven't experienced the non-stop adventure, romance, and just plain good writing that is expected in a book.
Rating: Summary: great Review: I have read all of the books in the Lioness Quartet and the Wild Magic Quartet and loved them all so much that I have bought all eight. I'm rereading the Lioness series for the five or sixth time and still think that it is one of the best series that I have ever read.

Rating: Summary: timeless adventure for years of enjoyment Review: I recently rediscovered this favorite of my childhood after 12 years of hiatus. What a wonderful discovery to find Alanna's adventures as compelling at 23 as they when I was 11! In these books, Pierce has created a loveable, and perhaps more importantly, a believable character whose adventures and experiences will enthrall young and older readers of both sexes.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for Girls Review: The book follows Alanna as she disguises herself as a boy while her twin brother goes on to study magic. Alanna, disciplined and independent sets an example as a strong female character. The book is humorous, thoughtful and shows a vastness for emotion and loyalty among friends. This book shines for its ability to show girls can have spirit, spunk and still be sensitive and feminine. I think that's one of the hardest lessons for girls today and this book really shows it well. I plan on exposing my daughter to this book as she gets older. The book really brought me inspiration when I was younger and I read it 12 years ago for the first time. Now they sit on my bookshelf and I still enjoy re-reading them again at 25!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Better than Harry Potter Review: Alanna's a really great book, filled with a lot of action. Great to see a girl hero for a change. I've read them all and this is still my favorite
Rating: Summary: An encouraging and fun book Review: I follow this book as if it is my bible. I absolutely love little Alanna. She is so brave and tough even though she is a girl. She fits in right away at the palace and soon proves just how great a girl can be. The writer digs into me with her words and I can't put the book down! I read the whole book in about a day on top of my school, homework, and afterschool activities. I think that the people who don't read at least one of Tamora Pierce's books are ignorant. Who could not love Alanna and her really, really, really, really great adventures in this medieval fantasy?
