Rating: Summary: A timeless tale... Review: Well, let's start out with the basics. Alanna is a girl who wants to become a knight in the time when girls are not allowed to be knights. She must disguise her chest and voice, cut her hair, and then live through all of the training it takes to become a knight! In this book, she must live through an excruciating first day being a "boy" and also live with the fact that she's hiding something--along with having to deal with evil people, friends, love, and some who care to destroy her. I thought the adventure was well though out and the character well developed--keeps you wanting more!!
Rating: Summary: This book has saved my life! Review: How has this book saved my life? While walking down a back ally I saw this book laying on the in the gutter. When I got off the road to get it a car sped by. I would have been hit if I had not gotten off the road. Overall this book is a work of art. I have read it over 47 times! The front cover has come off the original, but I have five other copies! A must have for any daring young girl (or boy), Alanna shows great courage and good descions. She is role model to me! She is a great charater all through her books!
Rating: Summary: an awesome adventure Review: this is one of the best books i have ever read. i couldn't put it down. i read the whole thing in one day. i had some trouble finding the other books in the series, though. Tamora Pierce has a great imagination and it shows in her characters. they are so realistic it seems they are modeled after real people. i definitely recommend this to all girls.

Rating: Summary: Amazing!!! Review: A friend recomended this book to me last year. She told me that it was a really great series and after I read it, I passed it on to someone else. I really liked this book, the first on in the whole set of series. But after I read some of these reviews I found out that if someone really wants to read the rest of the series they would get sort of confused. So, before I start talking about Alanna and all the other great characters in this book, here is a list of the books in this series and the order in which you should read the other books. Song of the Lioness: 1. Alanna: The First Adventure, 2. In the Hand of the Goddess, 3. The Woman Who Rides Like a Man, 4. Lioness Rampant The Immortals: 1. Wild Magic, 2. Wolf-Speaker, 3. Emperor Mage, 4. Realms of the Gods Protector of the Small: 1. First Test, 2. Page, 3. Lady Knight(Not yet Published) And then there is a set of series that have nothing to do with the ones above, but are by the same author: Circle of Magic: 1. Sandry's Book, 2. Tris's Book, 3. Daja's book, 4. Briar's Book The Circle Opens: 1. Magic steps And there you have it, a list of all the books by Tamora Pierce, in the order you should read them. Now, the real book review. Alanna and Thom of Trebond are twins. Their father wants Alanna to go to the convent and Thom to go to the palace to bacome a knight. Neither of them wants to go, Alanna likes fighting and would rather become a knight and Thom wants to learn sorcery. So with the idea of switching places they go to Maude, the village healer. She decides to ask the gods. As they don't object, she helps the twins. Thom forges the letter and Alanna cuts her hair. They look so much like each other that nobody but Maude and Coram(the one who is supposed to take Thom to the palace) would be able to tell the difference. And that's how the set of series begins, with a young girl who has abitions to become a knight. But she has choosen a hard path, girls aren't allowed to become knights. She has to disguise herself and act like a boy. This series(Song of the Lioness) is all about what she has to go through to reache her goal.
Rating: Summary: Alanna Wins me over! Review: I used to read all the time, but then i lost interust. A few months ago we were taking the state wide examinations (MCAS) and I asked my friend to bring me a book that I could read. She brought me 'Alanna: The First Adventure' and as soon as i started it i was hooked! Alanna was a true girl herione. If i had lived with her at the time i would have followed her in to the palace! Her adventures were amazing! I finished in 3 days. She then let me borrow 'In The Hand Of The Godess' which was just as good as the first installment. 'The Woman Who Rides Like A Man' was not as good as the first 2 but still better than any other book i had ever read. "Lioness Rampant' was much longer than any other of the books in the series, but a sad and fitting ending. I love these books and i recomend them to everyone!

Tamora Pierce developes the characters beautifuly and really zooms in on Alanna, the spunky girl who is determined to win her shield, no-matter what! And let me tell you is there plenty in store for her! The Song of the Lioness Quartet will make you fall over with anticapation, I've read it three times, every book!If you've read Wild Magic, but not these, here is your chance to meet the one and only Alanna (alias Alan) of Trebond. Not to mention Jonathan, Thayet, George, Myles, Gary, Roger the Duke of Conte` and plenty others. You won't regeret it, let alone forget it.
