Summary: Absolutely Enchanting
Review: This book is about a girl(Alanna) around 11/12 years old who poses as a boy so she can become a knight. Alanna is one of the best books I've read. The only thing i have agianst this book is that there are a few minor insidences that I disagree with. I would advise ages 13 and up to read it. Other than those few parts I would highly recemend this book. I dout that many boys would like it, but most girls would. In this book, Alanna is strong minded and stubborn.(which in my oppion makes for the best of books) THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!

Summary: One of my favorites!!!!!
Review: This is a great book for people who love girl power stories. Tamora Pierce's world of Tortall is WONDERFUL! I would suggest reading this book before the other Tortall books because it comes first chronologicly, and because it introduces you to that world well. If you have read this book and liked it, I would suggest the Enchanted Forest series, by Patricia Wreade.

Summary: Terriffic book
Review: In ALANNA: THE FIRST ADVENTURE, Alanna of Trebond switches places with her twin Thom so that she might go to the palace and learn to become a knight, while he goes to the City of the Gods and learns to be a great sorceror. The hitch is, she has to disguise herself as a boy for all of the 8 long years of training that she will have to undergo at the royal palace in Corus. If she gets caught, the consequences will be dire indeed.

"Girl disguises as boy to follow her dream in a world run predominantly by men"...Sound familliar? This is a plot that has been used over and over again through out history, with vary degrees of success. All the more reason for it to be clear that ALANNA: THE FIRST ADVENTURE is a wonderful book, for to be able to take an old, well-used plot, and turn it into something as terriffic and original as this book is truly an accomplishment.

The characters are all well-written, my special favorite being Alanna's good friend George, the King of the Rogue. The story, though not written in the most sophisticated style, is enjoyable and fun to read over and over and over...well, you get the point. Pretty much everything about this book is good, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a light but well-written read for a rainy day (or a sunny one, if it comes to that!).

Best for ages 10+.

Happy reading!

Summary: Great Book
Review: My mom got me this book for christmas last year, and I was a little skeptical when I looked at the cover. It looked so 'frilly'. Once I started reading it I was hooked by the second page. There was action, excitement, and the climax was, let me put it this way, I didn't put the book down until I was through. It was a good thing I finished before dinner because my mom won't let us read at the table. I have read the series and the other series as well three times since I got them! These are a must read!

Summary: The best book ever
Review: My copy of this book is worn and old because I have read it so many times. I love this story and I don't think I will ever stop reading it. It feels like an old friend. I can always escape into these pages even though some might say I'm too old to be reading it now. I think it will remain my favorite forever. Read it. It will become your favorite, too!

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Alanna: The First Adventure is one of my favorite books! The rest of that particular series, The Song of the Lionness, are also great. I love how a girl is the hero (actually, heroine) and is great at what she does even though she does have a few weaknesses like everyone else so you feel a bit more...comfortable. Also, Alanna never gives up (well, maybe sometimes!) and is a friendly-if not a bit too bad-tempered-, popular redhead who is an absolutely wonderful heroine. If you've read other books by Tamora Pierce, or even if you haven't, this book is the perfect idea, as well as the others in the series are. So here's my opinion: READ THIS BOOK!!! Thanks!

Summary: Awsome!
Review: When I read the book I loved it. The sereies was moving, with a small exception for the third book. My copy of Alanna is falling apart in desk and needs repair, thats how much I have read it.
The book takes you on an adventure of a girl who doesn't like the way her life has set out to be and her twin brother who also doesn't like his path. They switch places, he to go be a great sorcerer and she to be a knight. The girl, Alanna, makes many friends while she is at the castle disguised as a boy. And the tale winds through many adventures and excitement.
My friend doesn't normally read fantisy but I urged her to read this. I lent her all of my books in the "Lioness Quartet," and was surprised to receive them back the very next day. I asked," You didn't like them did you?" she replied," No I loved them. I started reading at 5:00 pm and ended a 6:00 am." So this book is an absolute read for ANYONE!

Summary: One of the Most Unforgettable Stories Ever!
Review: Simply put, Alanna: The First Adventure is a joy to read from cover to cover, and in the end I was left breathless, and could not wait to read the next installment. Tamora Pierce has a talent for blending realistic characterizations of loveable characters, with a gripping plot, spetacular visulizations, and a dazzling narrative. I found myself careing for the main chacters and hateing the villians. AtFA may be found in the young adults section, but it is a story for people of all ages, old and young, female and male, from every country. There is something there for everyone to love. It is about determination and beating the odds, and learning to accept who you are, and to defy society. It is breathtaking, and you will not regret reading this amazing novel.

Summary: The Best Series Ever!!!!
Review: Wow! Tamora Pierce has created a masterpiece series starting with this marvelous novel! All of my comrades had recomended the terrific "Alanna Books" to me. So, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I soon found how true their statements are. I normally have trouble paying attention to books, but Pierce kept my attention all through the series. In fact, I was so enthralled that I couldn't stop!! Before I relized it I had finished the entire series! I recommend this book to all adolecents. A relatively easy read, Alanna the first Adventure will thrill all, boys and girls.
Happy reading!!

Summary: The Girl with the Power
Review: Alanna is a very brave girl, or should I say boy? She is a magical child who wants to become a knight. Her brother, Thom, on the other hand, would rather wear a dress than be in the army. So that's exactly what he does. Alanna and Thom switch places. But what Alanna doesn't know is that she will come across people and places that are so dangerous that her powers alone aren't enough to stop them. This is a wonderful story that will have you laughing and crying your way through it.
