Rating: Summary: The best of the four Review: This book was definatly the best of the four imortal books. Which says alot because I love the other three as well. If I were you I would read the Alanna books first because that came first in time. This book comes together with a dramatic ending. A must read.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Wild Magic is probably my all time favorite in the Immortals series. The story starts out with the main character, Daine, looking for work with animals because her whole family has died. She gets a job taking horses for the queen down to the capital city because she has a "knack" with animals, but that "knack" turns out to be one of the best things that has ever happened to her.
Rating: Summary: Wild about it! Review: This book is awesome! I was at the library when I saw it, and I heard of the Alanna series so I picked it up. It is awesome. When I read Alanna, I got a little tired of the Gift, and I felt sorry for people without it. But now there's a new form of magic, and it's probably even cooler that the Gift! I really really recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: By itself, a good book Review: As other reviewers have written, I read this book after I had read the Song of the Lioness quartet twice, and was eager to read this one. This is by far one of the best books I've read, but the series deteriorates from there. Daine is again a very believeable character, as Alanna was, but after her conflicts are resolved here in this book, it seems she never has any more. This book accurately displays the internal turmoil of a confused thirteen-year-old as well as portraying a magnificient plot. The one thing that really disappointed me about this book was how different the setting was compared to the one's in the Song of the Lioness quartet as well as the characters. Somehow the external image of characters like Alanna, Jonathan, and Thayet are not what they seem in the first quartet. However, disregarding the magnificence of the first Quartet and the pretty bad last three books in this quartet, it is a very good book.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED this book. Review: It is the best series that Tamora Pierce wrote. Far more interesting than the Song of the Lioness series. But maybe that is just me. The story takes place in a far away land named Tortal. A young girl, Daine, and her pony, Cloud, set out for a new start. They meet some interesting characters and have a great time with new friends. This is an adventure you do not want to miss.
Rating: Summary: Better than the Alanna series Review: The immortals was a little confusing in the first book, but i loved them and almost anyone who liked Harry Potter will. Filled with romance and adventure, the Immortals will keep you busy for a while.
Rating: Summary: What a book! Review: I -loved- this book. It's a perfect combination of girl power, animals, and magic. It was charming -and- exciting... I couldn't put it down. As soon as I finished it, I went out and bought the other books in the quartet because I couldn't wait to see what happened next! A great read for kids. I've recommended it to several of my students.
Rating: Summary: One of my fav's... Review: This book is set in the land of Tortall during the reign of King Jonathan the III and Queen Thayet. A girl named Daine and her horse Cloud travels to a fair in Cria.A trader named Onua questions Daine and almost doesn't accept to take her with her. Though, eventually Onua does. And the start of an adventure begins. Daine meets up with Alanna(one of the Queen's riders) and a shape-shifting man named Numari Salmalin. Both of they are gifted, Numair being a mage. They encounter Stormwings, which haven't been seen for centuries. For unanswered reasons the immortals have escaped their imprisonment in the Divine Realms. Wrecking havoc where ever they go. Alanna, Numair and Daine have planned their way to go to Pirate's Swoop. On the way Numair and Alanna sense a strange power in Daine. One that has not be seen for years. Daine has Wild Magic, the ability to communicate with animals. Numair helps her train, helping her control it more. This book is one of my top five favorite books. It is really amazing and I'm not just saying that. Tamora Pierce has crafted an excellent novel and it's shame she hasn't won any awards for it(correct me if I'm wrong). It's one of those books you pick up and can't stop reading. Somethings were unclear in the begining but they all straightened themselves out in the end. But some questions were left unaswered so some plot could be used for the next novel, Wolf Speaker. I reccommend this book to anyone who likes to read. I'm not that really into fantasy, but I LOVED IT! Trust me, this book is worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Does she have "The Gift"? Review: Diane. Just an ordinary girl. Right? Wrong! Diane has a special gift that helps her speak to animals through her mind. She has no idea until she meets up with a horse trainer that has the gift. She then figures out about her special powers and decides to help at the castle where her new found friend comes from. Here she helps trainies learn to ride and care for horses. This is all I can tell you without giving away the rest of the story. I thought it was OK but I have read better.
Rating: Summary: A brilliant new series......and new magic Review: In the first book of the Immortals series, you are introduced to a new type of magic, Wild Magic. It is a magic in which you have special connections with nature. Daine, a young wild magic mage, is not only fresh, young and inquisitive, but has a long way to go before she learns how to fully control her magic. She has a knack with horses and soon finds herself in the Corus with the Queen's Riders, training apprentices. Fresh faces are introduced and a whole new different series unfolds. A lovely book and a great introduction to the life of Veridaine Sarrasri. A definite must read!
