Rating: Summary: The beginning of another interesting quartet Review: WILD MAGIC, by Tamora Pierce, begins the story of Daine, a 13-year-old girl who has a "knack with animals" and a dark past. Set in the realm of Tortall a few years into the reign of King Jonathan and Queen Thayet, the story begins with Daine being taken on by Buri of the Queen's riders as an assistant to help bring ponies from Gala into Tortall. Along the way they run into a couple of Immortals, strange beings who have been let out of the Divine Realms by an unknown mage , from whom they have to rescue a large, strange black hawk who acts like no other animal Daine has ever delt with...For the rest of the story you'll just have to read the book. I have to say that WILD MAGIC is not my most favorite of Tamora Pierce's books. It's just not as interesting to me as, say, the "Song of the Lioness" books. However, that is not to say that I dislike it, and I think that anyone who liked Tamora Pierce's other books will probably like this one too, ESPECIALLY if they like animals. =) -Read on-
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: I just loved this book! I must have read this a million times! It's not just a kid book either. There's all kinds of "grown up" things in there. I really liked the way Tamora Pierce kept former charcters in the book, King Jonathon, Alanna, George etc. I had been wondering what would happen to them and now I know! This book just sets the scene for the rest of the three books following it. Daine is a typical young girl and I feel like I can relate to her dispite her slight unordinaryness (is that a word?) namely talking to animals. This is a great book, if you didn't like it, you must not have really read it, because everyone who reads this HAS to like it!
Rating: Summary: A 13 year old reader. This book is awsome!!! Review: This book is awesome! It will grab you right away! It kinda' lost my interest towards the middle but toward the end I couldn't put it down. I never knew I could read 3 pages per minute!! Anyhow I HIGHLY suggest this book to fantasy lovers. I'll give you a good tip, when you order this book order it with the rest of the series so you don't have to wait for the rest of the books to come after you finish the first one. This was the first book I have read by Tamora Pierce and will not be the last!!!
Rating: Summary: A Great Beginning Review: The characters of "Wild Magic" are very likeable people (the good guys, that is!) especially Daine and her friend, Miri. I had wanted to find out more about Alanna after I read the "Song of the Lioness" series. She is in this series, to my delight, though all grown up with children of her own. Daine's love for animals is something I can relate to, so this was really appealing to me. The only thing I didn't care for was the fact that Daine spends more time with adults like Alanna, Onua, and Numair rather than people her age, like Evin and Miri. All in all, a good beginning of a series.
Rating: Summary: A great book by Ms. pierce!!! Review: The book was increadable!! My friend had been buging me to read it so I finally did and absolutly fell in love with it!! The story is about a young girl named Veralidaine Sarrasri (or Daine for short)and her "knack" for animals. The book was magical and I fully encourage anyone who likes macic or midevil times to read it!!!
Rating: Summary: Compelling, Magical Adventure. Review: I am only 11 and when I read Wild Magic, I was probably 9. Wild Magic was the first Tamora Peirce book I read and now, I have just finished The Circle of Magic series. I have already read the Lioness Quartet and what is out for the Portector of the Small. This book is exactly what I was looking for, it has adventure, a little romance, mystery, magic and every thing else. Daine is a wonderful main character with all the troubles and is actually realistic. All the other books like Wild Magic I have read are all cheesy with un-realistic main characters but Wild Magic really makes you belive in magic.
Rating: Summary: Ahhh! Animals! Review: This is a great book, which I strongly suggest. My sister had told me that it was a great book and that I should read it. At first I didn't believe her because we sometimes have different ideas on which books are good and which books are bad. I read it and was very glad that I had listened to her, because if I hadn't, I would have been missing out on a really great book. It starts out with Onua, the horse manager for the king, looking around to buy horses. She meets Daine, a girl with only a horse for family. Onua hires Daine as a helper. Daine rescues Numair Salmalin, when he is in the shape of a hawk. When he is well and back in the shape of a human, he, Onua, and Daine go back to the palace. Numair finds out that Daine has Wild Magic, which is a type of magic that lets her talk to animals and heal animals. I don't want to give away the whole story, so that's all that I'll tell you.
Rating: Summary: This series starts off great! Review: I love a good fantasy, and that's just what I got here. The story flows very smooth, and the characters are colorful, developed people that you learn about and come to know as the story goes on. It is rare that you stumble upon wrting this good, and I wish I could explain how good it is here. But, I can't. Go ahead and give this book, and this series, a try - you won't regret it!!
Rating: Summary: ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOOKS Review: If I could I'd probably rate this book 5 and a half stars. It's one of my top 5 favorite books and I reccomend it to anyone who likes Fantasy. I've owned this book for over a year now and I keep rereading it, it's that good. A 13-year-old girl named Daine is taken on as a helper to the Royal Tortallian Horse Mistress(named Onua). On the road, Daine proves that she is gifted with a type of magic called Wild Magic. Daine is reluctant at first to accept that she is gifted with Wild Magic, but as her powers cause unexpected trouble she accepts training for her magic and, as her new found friends and magic guide her, helps win a enemy assault on the border of Tortall.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! A must read Review: I loved these books (i've read them all) They are all great. But the first was one of my favorites. Diane was just sitting around when the horse person( I forget the name) Found her and sent her for a wild ride. You should read this book if you like animals or magic or a ton of action you should read this book. I won't tell you what happens but I can tell you to read this book!!!!!
