Summary: loved it
Review: I started this book right after finishing the Song of the Lioness Quartet. This is definitely another excellent book by Tamora Pierce. With the help of Numair, a powerful mage, her friends, and the badger-god, Daine learns how to control her ability to communicate with animals and how to trust people again. Daine's abilities are especially useful as more Immortals, creatures (like ogres and Stormwings) long thought to be the stuff of stories, find their way into the human world. Pierce doesn't reveal everything about Daine right away and it was fun to watch those mysteries unravel. Cloud, Daine's horse, is, like Faithful from the Alanna books, a smart and often witty animal. I recommend this book, even if you haven't read the Alanna books. Although it helps to have read them, and it's wonderful to read about all those characters from the Alanna books again, it's not really necessary in order to understand this book.

Summary: Fantastic Read - Nostalgic For Returning Pierce Fans
Review: Yes, Tamora Pierce has once again dazzled us all with her ability to form the 'base' for all future stories for the many aspiring writers, to give a guideline for all the possible clichés. She has formed a story based around a young girl that just happens to have a 'knack with animals'.

For a summary of the tale, there isn't much to say if you only want to give a brief teaser without truly taking away some of the surprise and delight that lies within this book. Daine, a very young girl who happens to be able to work with animals at an exceptionally good level, finds herself with a job under the royal horsemistress herself, Onua. The older woman is fascinated with the girl's 'knack' in being able to handle the animals and seemingly communicate with them, and soon discovers later (thanks to the help of others) that Daine has no ordinary talent.

The girl finds herself on an emotional roller-coaster as she strives to discover the magic within herself and to live and trust those of the same race that refused her in the past.

Her triumphs are expressed in such a way that the reader can't help but cheer along with the others. Her fears can be so easily related to the very plausible traumas that we can expect in society. Also, let us not forget the magical aspect of the story. The fantasy is still very much there, and many young and old readers alike will find themselves drawn into the curious tale of young Daine and company.

To all those that are returning to Tamora Pierce from the first series, the 'Song of the Lioness', you will have a wonderful moment of nostalgia. Many well-known and loved characters will return to meet up with Daine, some making only brief appearances while others are a fairly important presence throughout the book.

Hopefully, this review will persuade you to read the first installment of 'The Immortals' series.

Summary: The best book in the world
Review: From the moment I picked up this book to the moment it ended, i could not put this book down. That was in fourth grade, and I am about to enter eighth, and i still feel the same way every time I read it, which is about once a month. It's still as exciting and wonderful as the first time that I read it, four years ago. Since then, I have read many examples of "fine literature", but none have the same unique blend of Animals, Magic, Suspense, Romance, and overall life and its wonders and problems.

Summary: Loved It!
Review: I read the entire series when I was home from school one winter. I was so entranced by this book that I made my sister go get the other books in the series. This is by far the best series I have read yet. It gives a female heroine instead of the typical male we have become used to seeing in our books. Ms. Pierce has incredible insight and a wonderful imagination and I look forward to reading all of her books.

Summary: Magical Entry
Review: This story attaches you to the rest of the books. Once you open the book you don't want to stop reading. Like all books that are first in a series, this book tells you about the people,
and the places. The Magic in the book is just as amasing as the detail and description. As soon as you stat reading you won't want to stop!

Review: An orphaned, outcast girl named Daine has alway had a knack with animals. She is hired on by a horse mistress for the Queen's Riders to help take a herd of ponies over the border to Tortall. Taken to the palace, she meets a mage named Numair who teaches her that her "knack with animals" is really Wild Magic, which makes Daine capable of comunicating with and even taking the form of animals. But now Tortall is threatened by war from Carthak and Daine may be the only hope to saving her country.

Review: This book gets infintiy with the star rating. I have read Wild Magic about three million times and never tire of it. I love it so much and can't wait to read it again. I couldn't put it down-literally. After I finished this book I went out and bought the next three in the series. If they were half as good as Wwild Magic I knew they would still be great.
