Rating: Summary: almost as good Review: At first the book disappointed me. It wasn't nearly as fantastic as Walk Two Moons, one of my favorite books. However, after sleeping on it, I realized I did like the book- though not so much for the story. I loved reading something where the author could capture the feeling of being a child. Creech wrote about the same things I would have written about when I was 13- an obsession with a boy, anger for having to do housework, curiosity about kisses. Immediately after finishing the book, I fumed about how many pages of the book were wasted complaining about a best friend and writing "I love you" over and over about a boy. But then- that's what my old journals were like- and the book wouldn't have been so believable otherwise. The story was also good, and it's mixed with humor that had me laughing so hard I cried (which is unusual). The only thing I didn't understand- why did a 13-year-old understand the Odyssey better than I did?
Rating: Summary: a stupendoes book Review: i really really like this book i never thought that it was that good. i only got it because my friend was helping me pick out a book. I really did not think that it would be so good because i usally read different books.but i first read Chasing Redbird and i started to get a craving for every book that Sharon Creech had ever wrote. So i finally found this book and could not even put it down to eat supper. and i love every character from all the cousins to Mary Lou herself. Now i suggest it to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: Definitely Not Sharon Creech's Best Work Review: After reading Walk Two Moons and The Wanderer, this book was a big disappointment. The other Sharon Creech books that I have read left me feeling good and thinking about various life issues. This book, however, just seemed to be lacking substance. Although it is somewhat humorous and mildly entertaining, it had no real depth to it. The characters were not very true-to-life or believable, and the way that the plot ended up fitting together was totally far-fetched and unrealistic. If you are just looking for a somewhat entertaining book then you may enjoy this, but if you are looking for a truly worthwhile reading experience with substance and depth then this is probably not the book for you. Read Walk Two Moons or The Wanderer instead.
Rating: Summary: Mary Lou's Story Review: As soon as I read this book I couldnt stop, I'v read it at least six times and counting. I think that Absolutely Normal Chaos is the BESTEST book ever created!! I recomend this book to any one and every one who likes a fun read. I thought, that even though Walk Two Moons was a great book it was so sad at points that I couldn't keep reading. Absolutely Normal Chaos had none of that sadness, it was all around superly silly, but still wasn't total sureal. Its a great book!
Rating: Summary: This Book is AWESOME!!! Review: Five eleven year old girls read Sharon Creech's book during their book club and thought it was great. Sharon puts you in Mary Lou's shoes and makes you feel like you're really there. This is Sharon Creech's best book. She makes this book flow and has so many different subjects you always have something to think about. This is perfect for our age level. It relates to things in our every day lives, not like dragons and other mythical creatures. THIS BOOK IS GREAT! GO OUT AND READ IT NOW!
Rating: Summary: The Summer of Cauos Review: Absolutley Normal Caous, by Sharon Creech is about a teenage girl named Mary Lou Finney who was assigned a journal to write over the summer. Mary Lou thinks that her summer is going to be extremly boring, because at the begining of summer her cousin, Carl Ray, comes and Mary Lou always has to make his bed and clean his room, and her best freind can barely ever hang with her because she always has plans. Although Mary Lou thinks her summer is going to be boring, it keeps on getting better and better, and she starts to enjoy writing in her journal. She keeps on writing in her journal, but the only thing is that she doesnt want her teacher to read it. I have only read half of this book, but i ploan on reading the rest because the book has really caught my attention, and whenever im reading it, it is vert hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Teriffic Book! Review: I found the book Absolutley Normal Chaos to be a great read for a preteen girl. It is a journal of Mary Lou Finney's supposedly normal summer. The summer starts out absolutely normally, with Mary Lou just hanging out with her friend Beth Ann Bartel. Then things take a crazy turn when Mary Lou's seventeen-year-old cousin, Carl Ray, comes to stay with the already large family (five kids). Though he says he came for a job, Mary Lou later finds out the real reason why he came. Mary Lou also meets the "permanatley pink" Alex Cheevey. This book chronicles the wildest summer of Mary Lou's life! I would reccommend this book and all of Sharon Creech's other books to anyone, but especially preteen girls. They are funny, inspiring, and just plain GOOD!
Rating: Summary: #1 book! Review: Absolutely Normal Chaos is one of the best books I have ever read. It has a great concept to write about. I like how Sharon Creech wrote from a kids point of view, and not in a grown-up point of view. She really knows what being a kid is like. The book tells about being a pre-teen, and the book uncovers mysteries that you would never expect! I recommend this book to girls because it tells about having a boy friend and explains about being a teenager by writing letters in a summer journal. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Jenna Book Review Review: Absolutely Normal Chaos is about a girl named Mary Lou Finley. The book is her journal over her summer. Lots of things happen like somebody dies, her cousin comes, she meets a boy. The cousin's name is Carl Ray. A lot happens to him--he came to get a job because where he lives is small. But later Mary Lou finds out why he really came. Mary Lou also meets a boy that keeps telling lies to see her. Mary Lou didn't even know he liked him. Things happen! This book was a pretty good book. I like this book because it was about a girl our age.
Rating: Summary: Absoluty Normal Chaos Review: Hello! I'm here to tell you about the book that I read. It is called Absolutely Normal Choas. The book is about Mary Lou Finney. She is talking about herlife as a teen, and really interesting things happen to her. She writes her life in diary form. She doesn't like writingdiaries, but she has to because her teacher told her that it is their summer assignment and thatthey turn it into their new teacher at the beginning of the year. I recommend this book to people who like diaries or like reading about a person's life. I really enjoyed this book because I like reading about peoples lives and I also like reading diaries too. I really hope that you will enjoy this book because I really did!
