Rating: Summary: Summer of Chaos Review: Recently, I completed reading Absolutely Normal Chaos. The book was interesting and showed how comlex life can really be. I would reccommend this book because it teaches how life is when you are a teenager. It showed the reality of life and was an excellent book. In the beginning Mary Lou Finney is supposed to write in a journal for her new English teacher, Mr. Birkway. Mary Lou's cousin, Carl Ray comes to live with the Finney's so he can find a job. Beth Ann, Mary Lou's best friend, starts going out with Derik the devine. Beth Ann starts ignoring Mary Lou. Then Mary Lou gets a boyfriend and knows why Beth Ann ignored her. Carl Ray gets money from an anonymous person. This ends being Carl Ray's real dad, who had died. I liked this book because it taught me an important lesson, not to judge people before you really know them.
Rating: Summary: I loved Absolutely Normal Chaos! Review: Absolutely Normal Chaos was an awesome book! I have read two of Sharon Creech's books and liked them both but Absolutely Normal Chaos was the best! The journal of young Mary Lou Finney was both interesting and taught a good lesson; it is important to be yourself. Mary Lou is a girl going through her teenage years with her large, busy family. Her cousin Carl Ray comes to visit and many strange things happen while he is there. Mary Lou falls in love with a boy named Alex Cheevy after Beth Ann, her friend was dumped by her boyfriend. This book shows how much fun you can have when you be yourself. I learned a lot and loved this book.
Rating: Summary: Summer-- Perfect? or Total Chaos? Review: Have you ever wondered why people laugh out loud, when they're reading a novel? Well, the Newbery Medal winner Absolutely Normal Chaos is why people laugh; it's a fun, imaginative, exciting novel, written by Sharon Creech. This hilarious, laugh- your- socks- off story has some wonderful details about an ordinary day in the life of thirteen year old Mary Lou Finney. She believes she's in love, with her boyfriend Alex Cheevy. Her mother thinks she's gone nuts, but Mary Lou doesn't think that! She knows she has a long life still to go. Will she fall in love? She has been assigned a job for the summer: Mary Lou has to write in a journal for the entire summer. Is her summer perfect or total chaos? Boy oh boy does a lot happen!
This suspenseful novel is wonderful. That's the one reason why I really like this story. It will talk about some major and hilarious conflict in Mary Lou's life, and then you just don't want to put down the book. You want to keep reading to find out the next scene. For example when her father got in the accident, and he went to the hospital, Mary Lou was angry with him at the time. I just wanted to keep reading, and see if he died, if she told him she was sorry, and just to see what would happen next. Another reason I like this story is because of its humor. It has such funny details and characters. The story's purpose is to make people laugh, and believe me it sure does. Mary Lou's sisters annoy her; they are always getting in her makeup, business, and her journal. They never leave her alone. So then Mary Lou screams, and her mother yells because Mary's yelling. It gets all loud and obnoxious! Many scenes are total chaos. As funny and suspenseful, as it is, there is this one part about this story that I don't care for. It was the ending. Endings are supposed to be the wrap up for the story. They're not supposed to be the next page in the book. I think the ending was just "BLAH"!!! It wasn't my type of ending. It was horrible actually. I don't know if it was because I really didn't want the story to end or it really was bad! This story was a lovely story and I would read it again, and again stopping just before that last page. I think you would love to read it too!
Rating: Summary: Such a great book!! Review: Absolutely normal chaos is probably one of my all-time favourite books. It's about a regular girl, Mary Lou Finney, 13, who lives in a house with her 3 brothers and her sister. Needless to say, there is never a moment of peace, and her summer seems to be becoming as boring as ever. Yet, her luck seems to turn, and we are told about her wonderfully exciting summer in a journal that she is told to write for school. She has no idea how to do it, but she ends up writing about her weird cousin, Carl Ray, who knows the Odyssey inside out, Her "best friend" Beth Ann, and her permanently pink Alex Cheveey. So what starts out as a boring summer turns into a thrilling time! Adventure, fun, and a bit of romance, this book is one that you will definitely not be able to drop! I recommend this to everyone, even those who don't like reading!
Rating: Summary: This book rocks!! Review: This book was great!! I have read it 4 times and the fourth time I read it, it was as good as the first time. This book is about a thirteen year old girl, Mary Lou who has to write a summer joarnal for her new english teacher. Her best friend, Beth Ann is boy crazy!! From Derek the Devineee to Carl Ray??! Mary Lou's older sister, Maggie is also crazy about her boyfriend, not-very-well-trusted-by-dad-Kenny. Carl Ray is Mary Lou's tall, freckly 17 year old cousin. He comes to her house to stay there while he was supposedly looking for a job. Then her neighbor, Mr. Furtz dies!! While everyone is viewing the not-looking-very-dead-body Mary Lou finds Carl Ray, CRYING!! Then there is pink faced Alex Cheevey, (sigh)who becomes Mary Lou's boyfriend. This book is like a great roller coaster ride!! It will never leave you board. I reccomend this book to anyone between the ages of 9-99! Try Sharon Creech's other books also. They are also great! To find out what else happens to all the characters, read Absolutly Normal Chaos
Rating: Summary: An Absolutely Wonderful Book... Review: I thought that this was a really good book. Sharon Creech is an awesome writer who will make you want to keep reading. The reason why I liked this book was because it had a pretty good twist at the end. I never would have guessed it. I could really relate to this book. This story is about a girl named Mary Lou who writes in a journal that has been assigned to her over the summer. It talks about her crazy life, her best friend, her weird cousin, and her crush. Also, it shows how she changes during this crazy summer. My favorite part was when Mary Lou stayed over at her cousins' house and they scared her a lot. This story shows you that even if you do not like a certain person, you should really get to know him or her and look at all the positive things about them. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book with a good twist. If you are looking for an even better book with a good twist, you should try reading Walk Two Moons.(also by Sharon Creech)
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Normal Chaos- FANTASTIC! Review: OK, it says above that I am 12, but I am actually 14, because I don't want to open an account with Amazon but I do want to review this book as it is really fantastic. Absolutely Normal Chaos tells the story of 13-year-old Mary Lou Finney, and one summer of her life. During this summer she is assigned by her teacher to keep a journal. This is a perfect portrayal of adolescence, and change. It explores different themes but it such an easy-going read that anyone will enjoy it. If you are looking for an easy, fun read, go for this, but if you are expecting something a little deeper, go for Walk Two Moons, another book by Sharon Creech which is also amazing but is a little less superficial than this. I utterly enjoyed Absolutely Normal Chaos, and I'm sure any other teenage girl would too as it deals with the sort of issues that we stress about. Great!!
Rating: Summary: This book was very good. Review: Mary Lou Finney is assigned by her English teacher to keep a journal during her summer vacation. She thinks that her journal is going to be boring, but before she knows it her life turns into... Absolutely Normal Chaos. The author of Absolutely Normal Chaos is Sharon Creech. This book takes place in Easton, Ohio. Mary Lou's summer starts off boring, but gets interesting when her cousin Carl Ray comes. Carl Ray is a 17-year-old from West Virginia. He came to Ohio to get a job, but later in the book you find out that he has some secrets that hes keeping from the Finney's. Mary Lou's best friend, Beth Ann, becomes boy crazy and has no time for her anymore, but Mary Lou develops her own boy problems. This book shows how one teenage girl grew up in just one summer. This book was very good.
Rating: Summary: UNBELIEVABLE! Review: This book is one of the funniest books I've ever read. It does has some good emotinal moments, but are quickly replaced by happy moments. Full of surprises, it is just great. I've read it many times, and it never gets old. Sharon Creech is a gifted author! She truly truly is!
Rating: Summary: Absolutley normal chaos Review: Mary Lou Finney is assigned by her English teacher to record her summer in a journal. Then her dad makes an announcement that her cousin Carl Ray will be coming to visitor find a job, but is really coming to find his real father, Mr. Furtz. Mr.Furtz ends up to be Mary-Lou's next-door neighbor, and while Carl Ray is visiting Mr. Furtz has a heart attack and dies. Carl Ray was very shy and quiet so Mary-Lou didn't like him. When she's forced to drive back to Carl Ray to West Virginia she recognizes that he was homesick and she was acting just like him. What Mary-Lou thought would be a boring summer ended up being a blast.
