Rating: Summary: Touching and Helpful Review: I read Tiger Eyes at about the same time my grandmother died. Since Davey had lost her father, I felt like I wasn't alone. At first, I couldn't get through it, just like Davey. This book really helped me get through this tough time. She gave me the strength to get out of my depression and know that my grandmother was in a better place. For some people this book may be depressing, but for me, it was actually the opposite. To know that you are not alone in your feelings actually helps you get through your hard time.
Rating: Summary: Realistic and Vivid, but Depressing Review: For starters, I think Judy Blume is a wonderful, inspiring author. I like this book, but it was sort of depressing. It didn't make me feel happy after I read it, but it is a good book if you like things like that. The book was depressing in the beginning, but it ended happy! So I did like it.
Rating: Summary: A read for anyone who has ever lost someone they love Review: I read this book for the first time when I was 12. And now I read it every summer. It is almost a ritual to me. It is a reminder of how quickly youth is lost and how sometimes you are forced to grow up way before you are ready. Anyone who has lost a loved one and had to grow up and "get over it" will love this book! Judy Blume is a genius when it comes to tapping into the emotions that we all have but never know how to express.
Rating: Summary: Judy does it again! Review: Fantastic, realistic portrayal of a teenage dealing with the loss of a parent. Parts are raw & touching, especially when Davey is not only dealing with her own grief, but is witnessing her brother & mom's grief as well. I thought her aunt & uncle were a little controlling & presumptious & I cheered when Davey refused to let them control her. I mentally crowed, "She's gonna make it!" when Davey's mother Gwen starts to get herself together & decides to move back to Atlantic City, despite the objections of the aunt & uncle, who I suspect, both had a rather selfish need to keep Gwen dependent on them. I love the last chapter where Davey & her family are walking along the beach together & you get a sense that even though their dad will always be missed, they're still very much a family.

Rating: Summary: I like this book Review: Book Review "Tiger eyes" "Tiger eyes" is a realistic book. It describes main characters' emotion very vividly. It is mainly talking about sudden death of a family member. Devey's father was murdered during a robbery at a convenience store. After her father's death, Devey and her family move to her aunt and uncle's house in New Mexico to get over it. While Devey's family stay with her aunt and uncle, she goes through some difficulties to get along with her aunt and uncle who treat Devey their own way with over- protection. But I think the conflict between Devey and her aunt and uncle is not simply because of her aunt and uncle's over protection or lack of understanding of youth, but it might also be because of Devey's concerns that they might be able to take her father's place from her that nobody can substitute. Devey meets a new friend Wolf who is somewhat going through the same experience as Devey. Wolf and Devey become really good friends. This part makes this novel more interesting. In this book, two father's deaths, Devey's father and Wolf's father, are kind of the main theme of this book. I think Devey has learned a lot from going through the two deaths. First, through her father's death, Devey might have realized how hard it is to lose somebody loved without preparation and how many hardship could be brought about from it and moreover, through Wolf's father's death, from actually watching him dying, Devey seems to learn how to face and get over it. I strongly recommend this book especially for those who have lost somebody
