Summary: Tiger Eyes Book Review
Review: Death, sorrow, loss, despair, reality, hope, belief, courage. Judy Blume visibly displays all these in Tiger Eyes. Tiger Eyes is about a teenage girl whose father was tragically murdered and how she goes on with her life with his last memory still lingering with her. Davey, the main character, her mother, and younger brother leave their home town of Atlantic City, and move to New Mexico for a few months with her uncle and aunt. Which whom she doesn't quite 'mesh' well with. I enjoyed this book immensely. Blume does an incredibly job showing Davey's feelings and emotions. She really pulls a reader into the book and story line. It's easy to relate to because she's just and average girl going through average problems such as boys, school, family, and friends. Yet, it's all deeply effected by what she went through with her father's death. When I finished the book it left me satisfied, but I still wanted there to be more. It was that good. I thoroughly recommend this book, mainly to girls, but it is still wonderful and beautifully written by Judy Blume.

Summary: ~ My Review of Tiger Eyes~
Review: Have you ever felt that stab of emptiness that might as well put you to your death? Davey has. In this fictional book, Davey lost her father and there was nothing she could do about it. Davey and her family escape Atlantic City and go to New Mexico to recover from the sudden death. They go to stay with her aunt and uncle, who Davey hates, mostly because her uncle insults her mother and father. Davey meets a guy who she calls Wolf who helps her escape her problems. It is he who gave Davey the name Tiger Eyes.

Davey is a depressed 15 year old going through so much pain in her life. Her friend Jane is a drunk, her mother doesn't talk to her about her father, and her Aunt Bitsy and Uncle Walter are over protective of her. Her Uncle Walter isn't a very happy person. Once he insulted Davey's parents, Davey thought she would never talk to him again. At first, Davey gives the impression that she hates everyone. She doesn't want to talk to anyone. She thinks everyone is out to get her.

This book is definitely a page turner. There is always something happening. I think a lot of people could relate to this book. It's original, inspiring, and a great book! It makes you realize you don't know what you have until it's gone and that some changes happen inside of you, that no one can see but yourself. It is worth the time to read.

Summary: Tiger Eyes Book Review (humanities 1)
Review: Judy Blume seems to have done it again! After many elementary books of Judy Blume such as Blubber or Superfudge, in Tiger Eyes Blume creates a very deep, sophisticated novel that leaves the reader with total understanding and connection. The characters deepest feelings are clear for us to see in this scintillating novel, Tiger Eyes. Tiger Eyes takes place in the canyons of a so-called "Bomb City" high in the altitudes of New Mexico. After her father's tragic, sudden death, Davey, her mother and her brother are tempted to move from Atlantic City to New Mexico to live with Uncle Walter and Aunt Bitsy for a short period of time to recover. However Davey didn't expect the healing to take that much longer, especially for her mother. Ever since the night at the store when her father was shot and killed by a burglar, Davey felt like a part of her was gone. In the beginning of her temporary move, she was not determined and self reassured that she would ever find the strength to live on and still remember her father. Moving into her Aunt and Uncle's house sprouted many new changes for both Davey and her mother. After having to leave her boyfriend and best friend, let alone her house and school, Davey faces many difficulties and hardships of this move. Meeting new friends and trying to keep in touch with the old and finding new interests in the boring Los Alamos. Dealing with the over-protected Aunt and Uncle is also a lot of stress for Davey. Uncle Walter who works for a plant that makes bombs has an ironic part in Davey's life. He tells her to be very cautious and safe and to avoid death-causing things, but yet he is the one who is making a bomb that could possibly kill millions. And Aunt Bitsy's constant control and bickering about what Davey can or can't do and should or shouldn't do. "You have to think of your future, . . .You want to get into a good college, don't you?" pp. 88. Davey later on explores the deep, vast canyons of Los Alamos and finds herself growing a passion for hiking down a canyon and admiring the beauty for hours by herself. "I climb down slowly, taking in the beauty of the canyon, knowing that I won't be back for a long time. That I may never come back. I want to remember the canyon exactly as it looks today. It is the place where I have felt closest to my father." pp. 201. One day a boy with wolf eyes, who Davey begins to call Wolf and Wolf begins to call Davey Tiger Eyes, comes down to keep company with her. It ends up that Wolf is the only person who is able to relax Davey out of her fright, and make her look at the good sides of life. He makes her realize the happiness of being able to be alive and helps her back on her track. Wolf plays a very significant part because like Davey, he has a father who is about to die and Davey hasn't had this comfort from anyone since her father was alive. When he leaves her, he gives her a significant memory, a tiger eye stone that changes color. Even though Davey seems to be getting back on track along with her brother, her mother still holds a lot of pain and grief making her often very sick and unstable and less of a parent to Davey and her brother. After going to many sessions of therapy she finally realizes that it is time for her to take back her family and try to build everything back again. She also makes a decision that both Davey and her brother needed in order to have fully recovered from the whole tragic experience, a trip back to Atlantic City. I thought this novel had such strong personality points in every single character and this novel didn't have story like characters. For example, characters like Aunt Bitsy was an important part of Davey and her brothers life because she played a very concerned and strict mother role as well as a over protective housewife. And characters like Uncle Walter who was kind of hypocritical because he would preach about dangerous death causing action when he was sitting at this lab getting payed to build a bomb that would probably end up destroying mankind and creating death of hundreds. Out of all characters though, Davey seemed to be the most stubborn, wild, and yet sweetest understanding girl of all. She went through so much with her father's death and all of her actions showed that she was hurting inside and wasn't able to share any of that inside of her for awhile. This novel showed a lot of the positives and negatives of death and of losing a loved one. The positives are obviously the memories that you can still have and the inspirations and dreams that keep you going on. The negatives are of course the big loss and the time and suffering that one goes through. This book isn't like any other book that I have ever read. I thought this book would be appropriate for anyone who enjoy reading about a characters strength after a tragedy and their emotions. I also think that almost everyone who has lost someone can relate to almost one thing that Davey had felt and that gives the reader reassurance that they aren't the only ones in pain and grief. I would recommend this book to just about anyone who enjoys books that deal with a characters life struggles. Blume yet again writes with such description and talent. This novel clearly was about learning to deal with the past and move on with your life, but still keep the memories inside your heart. And the character Davey and her family all experience that in Tiger Eyes. Reviewed by Felicia Petrone

Summary: Tiger Eyes
Review: The book i have recently read is called "Tiger Eyes" by Judy Blume. It was probably the best book ever written. IT is about a girl named Davy and how she recovers after her fathers death.
The plot starts out in the city of Atlantic City. From her fathers death, her mother decides the need some new scenery. SO they move to mexico with Davys aunt and uncle. In New Mexico it is very dry with a lot of canyons. A canyon is how she met her friend named Wolf.
How this whole book started is when Davys dad died, as mentioned before. Davys family ran a convinient store night below their apartment. One day when Davy went to the beach with her boyfirend, her dad stayed at the sotre to work. Two guys wearing ski masks has walked into the door with guns. Davys dad had always kept a gun om tje cabinet but it was never loaded. HE didnt want his son, davys younger brother, to play with it. Davys dad tried tp scare the robbers away by pointing the gun at them at saying it was loaded. The robbbers shot at her dad and he died instantly. Davy had never gotten over that and niether did her brother and mother. Thats when the decided to visit davys aunt and unlce. Davy never enjoyed it ther at first and just waited and waited until they could leave. Davy just sat in bed, not eating, not sleeping, just pretty much doing nothing. One day when Davy finally got out of bed and went for a bike ride to explore where she was. She stopped at a canyon and set her bike down at the tree. SHe sat at the end of the canyon just thinking about her dad, that night and her mother. She got the idea to walk down the canyon. It was very difficult for Davy and took about an hour and a half. By the time she got down there she didnt know what to do, so she just sat on a rock. Then she spotted somebody walking down the canyon a lot faster than her, asking if she was alright. He got to where Davy was standing and started talking. Since this day they had met at the canyon every day just to talk about life.
SHe ended up being a lot more happu ever since she met Wolf. SHe ended up having to go to shcool there for a while but

Review: Judy Blume did a fantastic job with this book. She really stressed real issues that many teens have to deal with. I feel she made a very good point in this book. The message that I had interpreted from this book was that: "No matter how bad life may get, things will always get better." I will recommend this book to all of my friends and I shall also make the recommendation to you to give this book a chance. You won't regret it!

Summary: Tiger Eyes
Review: Tiger Eyes,by Judy Blume. Is a magnificent book, and incredably realistic. It's about a young girl(Davey Wexler)and how she struggles to lead her old life again after her father is shot to death at his 7-11 store in Atlantic City,New Jersey. Blume does a magnificent job being extreamly realistic and describing the charecters and adventures through out the book. The feelings and emotions that Davey Wexler goes through, Pull you into the book and make you fell as if you are actually there. It makes me think that Blume must have gone through somthing simular in her own life to understand how it feels to loose someone so special. The describing of the charecters was also amazing. You get such a clear picture of what the various people in the book look like, along with all of their charecteristecs.Judy Blume surely has a gift for making the readers know what Davey and the other charecters are thinking without reading it in the print. I give this book four stars,I highly recomend it to all ages.It doesn't matter if your 10 or 80 this book is an enjoyable masterpeice for everyone.

Summary: I like this book because it was very realistic
Review: Anna Fuller October 9, 96 Hello, my name is Anna Fuller. I'm in seventh grade. I just read your touching and exciting book, Tiger Eyes. I picked your book because my teacher recommended it to me. I also like realistic fiction. I think some of the best parts in your book were when Davey's father died because you made it seem so real and I felt that it was very emotional. Another part that I liked was when Davey started a new school in Los Alamos. She seemed very nervous. I liked how you wrote that part to be so realistic. Davey instantly made friends. I also enjoyed the part when Davey got to go home to Atlantic City. I feel it was a high point in the story. I would have written the end of the book differently, I think you could have put more into it. One suggestion I have is you could have said when Davey got home she met up with her old friends, or you could have had another story to go with it. I was wondering if you could give me a few pointers on writing, because writing dosen't intrest me. I was wondering if you could suggest to me, a way to make writting fun. I really liked your book. It was interesting and fun to read. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Was probably a little young to have been reading this...
Review: I can remember blushing bright red as I read this--a million years ago. It's not really all that shocking, but I was young and unfamiliar with the passionate flushes teenage girls felt. Excellent plot, theme, and setting. I learned a lot about Spanish, and the Southwest. As always, Blume handles her subject matter deftly and leaves feeling as though you've made a new friend. The sweater money scene will forever remain in my memory.
