Rating: Summary: Mind blowing, and wonderful Review: This book was one of the best books i have ever read, it was so meaningful, and a wonderful change from the usually plots of books these days. It was unbelieveably creative, and original, and weetzie's life just seems so good, it left me glowing afterward. if you want to read a very happy, wonderful, full of description book about a real live human fairy, read this. I just want to say thank u francesca lia block, for being a wonderful writer, ur books have really changed my life
Rating: Summary: .... Review: A good, yet truly bizarre story. The characters are so far from anything you ever encounter. Despite it's oddity, it's a nice story.
Rating: Summary: Lanky lizzards Review: When I first started reading weetzie bat I thought it was an incredibly strange story. However, once I got into it I realized it was different from any thing I've ever read and I got hooked. Although it is a short book, Francesca Lia Block makes it feel like a full novel. I haven't had the chance to continue to read on with the following books, but I hope Weetzie, Duck, Dirk, My secret agent lover man, cherokee, and Witch baby are still living their wierd lives. I would recomend this book to any one who enjoys reading about different lifestyles and wierd families.
Rating: Summary: I say 6 out of 5 stars! Review: This is my absolute favorite book. It's very small and short but belive me, this book is GOOD. Even though u can read it in a day it's really a great book. You wont finish it because it's small, you'll finish it because it's so...how can i put this...different from other books.(in a good way) Just buy it and you'll agree with me, you'll be sooo glad that you did.
Rating: Summary: The Best of the Entire Series!... Review: Weetzie Bat is, in my opinion, the best of the Weetzie Bat series, not to say, that it isn't outstanding all on its own. No one else could ever write like Ms. Block: her style is gorgeous, poetic & entrancing. Plus, this volume is such a cute little copy, with a really pretty cover, even if you own the whole series in one book (Dangerous Angels), you need this little copy, too. This was just such a great, creative story, & if you don't enjoy it, you have to be insane. It is & will always be one of my favorite books ever, and I think everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: An excellent source for reading Review: Eccentric is a word that describes Francesca Lia Block's Weetzie Bat. Block's unique writing format and creativity develops a relationship between her as a writer and the audience. Block allows her audience to experience literature from several perspectives. Block clearly launches on a journey to inform her readers that all fairy tales may not correspond with one another. Francesca Lia Block's novel features a damsel in distress, a magical genie, and an unusual yet dynamic ending. Weetzie unlike Snow White and many other damsels in distress does not begin in rags and ends with riches. Block's plot for her fairy tale is slightly different. She suggests that her readers become knowledgeable that money and beauty do not always buy love and happiness. As one can easily deduce, Francesca Lia Block is a very creative writer that ahs an a exceptionally large imagination. Francesca Lia Block's Weetzie Bat is an unusual yet dynamic novel. Block uses unique sentence structuring and descriptive writing to describe the relationship between the many characters in her novel. Block starts on a journey to enhance the knowledge of her audience based on a different style of writing, onlt to inform her readers that there are other methods of writing besides the traditional formats and styles, which were demonstrated through the story of Snow White. Block also wanted people to know that every fairy tale does not have to end with the damsel in distress being rich and married to enjoy life and to live happily ever after.
Rating: Summary: Neo Hippies? Review: Weetzie Bat and her friends remind me of young folks from the so-called Hippie era, with their communal living, tolerance for various lifestyles, and love of a multitude of pets. They come twenty years later than Hippies, though, so maybe they're Neo-Hippies? I don't know if the rest of the world is quite ready for their free lifestyle, yet, but Los Angeles may be. Weetzie meets a gay man, Dirk, whose grandmother dies and leaves him her house, so that wish is granted. Weetzie meets a genie out of a lamp, which reminded me of someone hallucinating on a drug, another connection to the Hippie era. Then Dirk meets a lover, Duck, and Weetzie meets a lover, "My Secret Agent Man Lover," or something like that, so all three of her wishes have been granted. But it's not all Shangri-La in LaLa Land. MSAML runs off when Weetzie wants to get pregnant (he returns later). Duck discovers AIDS (though it's not indicated that he has it) and runs away to save his lover, but he also returns. However, Weetzie's father, once a wannabe script writer, doesn't make it, an apparent suicide. Weetzie has her baby, MSAML has an outside baby, so the six of them, plus dogs and other pets, make up the household. Reads quickly, not necessarily a teen book, was apparently the first of many by Ms. Francesca Block, but this is the only one I've read.
Rating: Summary: Gotta Love Weetzie Bat Review: Hands down for the most original book I have ever read in my entire life. Though Weetzie Bat is a classic coming of age story with magic told in the style of a fairy tale, it remains relevant to those who read it. Not recomended for conservative readers.
Rating: Summary: The wonderful world of Weetzie Bat Review: I really thought this was a great book. In the beginning Weetzie was my idol and she still is.I was so interested in the story I wouldn't put it down.I was up really late still reading it I really loved this book that is why right now I'm reading the sequels for Weetzie Bat.I really recommend this book to everyone ages 13 and up.
Rating: Summary: Weetzie Bat A Fantastic Book Review: In my opinion I thought this book was fantastic. When I first was reading I didn't understand what was happening, but later on in the book everything became clear. The book was very cool. Also the characters were very original. My favorite was "My Secrent Agent Lover Man" because he was very calm about everything. He sounded very handsome from the way Weetzie Bat described him. I recommend it to people that are 13 and up.
