Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird review by Taira Review: This book was excellent because it talked about Zinny's family and the way her life is going and what she has to deal with. She goes into a forest and finds a trail. She decides to start digging a clearer path for the trail to see where it will go. Zinny feels this is like her life and she is discovering herself through the experience and what she find while digging this path. When Zinny and her cousing Rose were about 5 years old, Rose dies. Then her Aunt Jessie dies suddendly a couple of years later. When Zinny is almost done digging the path, she finds a cabin and it belonged to her uncle and aunt. Zinny found some of Rose's toys and some of her aunt Jessie's personal items and also Zinny's toys. It brought back memories for her of the times with her cousin and aunt when both her and Rose were treated like twin sisters. Later her uncle comes by the cabin and sees Zinny inside. He tells her the story of how they were treated like twin sisters and Aunt Jessie was like her own mother. It made her feel better talking to her uncle about the past. Chasing Redbird was for the name that Zinny's uncle gave to her aunt, because of her red hair, when they they were up in the cabin it reminded him of a red cardinal bird. He used to try to catch red birds after Jessie died, thinking it was her.
Rating: Summary: Another masterpiece by Creech! Review: I read this book over the summer and I just couldn't put it down! Creech's novels get you hooked on like a fish, and you cannot get free. Chasing Redbird has a lot of romance, sadness, and adventure. When you read this book, you could really relate Zinny Taylor to yourself, and notice that you might have lots in common. Zinny has lots of brothers and sisters, and feels like she has nothing of her own. When she discovers a trail on her uncle/aunt's farm, Zinny realizes it is miles and miles long.
Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird Review: This book was GREAT! This book was my favorite book out of all of sharon Creech's books. This book was about a girl named Zinny. Zinny is one of many and is always mistaken as one of her sisters. When Zinnys Aunt dies Zinny is horrified she feels that she is responsible for her Aunt's death. One day Zinny stumbels a path and realizes that if she clears it it will stretch out further than the eye can see. She looks into this path and gets maps and everything else she needs to clear the path. Zinny uncovers many mysteries on this path and realizes many finds out about many thigs that have been bothering her. This was a great book and this wasn't the whole story there where many other little and big adventures that Zinny comes upon in this story. So go on now it is your turn to read it and tell us what you think of this book!
Rating: Summary: A truly touching story about a girl's journey to her past. Review: One of my favorite books; a compelling story for any audience. Zinny is a young girl, who uncovers a trail leading from her hometown to the ajacent village over 20 miles away. While she weeds through the thick brush of this pathway, she stumbles into the painful thorns of her family's past. She discovers more than just evidence of a bittersweet story, but learns a sort of independence. Zinny is able to cope with the obvious jealousy she holds for her older sister, the little attention received from her parents, the death of her beloved Aunt Jessie, and the new feelings that she unearths from inside herself.

Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book Review: This is probably the best book I have ever read. It's interesting, sad, funny, romantic, and suspenseful. Those features are what make a book the best it can be. You can see all of the scenes in you mind's eye and experience what Zinni is going through. This and Walk Two Moons are both great books.
Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird Review: Chasing Redbird is a heart warming, realistic, novel written by Sharon Creech. This book deals with issues of loneliness, following your dreams, and trust in others and yourself. Throughout the novel these traits are followed and sometimes others join. This book is a fantasy though it could happen in real life, and it is praised by children from ages 9-12, but some adults do enjoy it. The main character in Chasing Redbird is Zinny, also known as Zinnia. Zinnia is a courageous, heart-warming, 13-year-old girl who feels responsible for the deaths of her aunt and cousin. Without them she feels lost. Her Uncle Nate, her aunt’s husband and cousin’s father, has lost his mind. He believes he has proof that Jessie is alive, and he always goes on walks, that is where he says he sees her. While Zinny’s aunt, Jessie or Redbird, is alive she plays a very large role in Zinny’s life, Zinny looks to her aunt as a mother whom she confides in and shares more than with her own mother. Though Zinny has a large family of brothers and sisters, she always seems to be left out. Then that summer Zinny discovers a trail in her backyard that she soon learns leads to a neighboring town. Zinny is determined to finish the trail by the end of summer vacation all by herself, so she goes to ask her parents if she can camp along the trail so she can progress faster. Amazingly her parents let her, after a lot of debating. Meanwhile an old friend of the family’s moves back in town along with her son, Jake. Zinny wasn’t impressed when Jake started giving her gifts because in the past boys had used her to get to May, her older sister. While on the trail Zinny discovers someone special and gets help from someone unexpected. She also learns more about the deaths of her close relatives. As the author writes in the story, “Life is like a bowl of spaghetti, once in awhile you get meatball.” This explains the purpose and meaning to the book. Zinny’s life is boring and uneventful until the death of her aunt and cousin, meeting Jake Boone, and the trail. With all of these events arising from nowhere Zinny is overwhelmed and confused. The main theme besides the saying is, to follow your heart. For example if you’re in a situation where you have two choices and in your stomach and heart you feel this sensation to do one compared to the other, go with your instincts. The theme in Chasing Redbird is easy to understand and relate to in everyday life. I loved this book! I enjoyed it so much because it was easy to understand, because the author wrote it in everyday language and it was believable the whole time. All of the elements that made up the story were well written and provoked thoughts in my mind. The setting was very important to the story because if Zinny didn’t find the trail in her backyard she would have never found the secret in her family’s past, and if she never found that information the story could have never happened the way it did because the story is based on her aunt and the mysterious past of the Taylor family. The plot in this story was of perfection too. It was detailed and went at a medium pace, not too fast where you would have to re-read stuff but it made you think and carried strongly throughout the novel. The characters were all very consistent, detailed, and realistic, they can probably relate to someone in your life. The reader can feel each and every character’s feelings and thoughts, which was nicely written by the author in 1st person. This is the third book that I’ve read by Sharon Creech. The first is the Newbery Medal Winner, Walk Two Moons and the second is The Wanderer. Chasing Redbird and Walk Two Moons are alike in the fact that Zinny and Sal, from Walk Two Moons, are friends and they both deal with the issues of loneliness and trust. The Wanderer and Chasing Redbird are similar because both girls are very close to their families. Another book that has the same theme is The Face of the Milk Carton series. This is alike in the way that these two girls discover a secret from their family’s past. This book is on the top of my list because it was easy to relate to and taught me to trust my instincts. It also was attractive to me and kept me on the edge of my seat so I had to keep reading.... Besides being able to relate to the characters in Chasing Redbird, I also learned an important lesson; to follow your heart no matter what, because your gut feeling always knows what’s right. Not only is that theory directed towards kids, adults often rely on it too, so this book could be read and understood, not only by kids, but by adults coming from that point of view. Anyone should be able to relate and understand this book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: I had to read a book for school, so I went to Borders bookstore and Saw the book Chasing Redbird. I didn't know If I would like it at first, but when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. This story is about a 13 year old girl named Zinny who is mourning the death of her cousin Rose, and has many brothers and sisters. She always feels crowded at her house. Her Aunt Jessie and Uncle Nate live on the other side of the house. She goes over there to feel uncrowded. They are like 2nd parents to her until one day her Aunt Jessie dies, and she blames it on herself. Her uncle Nate is depressed from the whole situation, and says he chases his redbird(Aunt Jessie). She uncovers a 20 mile trail in her yard. In the meantime an old family friend and her son move back to town. Jake Boone, (the son that moved there) falls in love with her. She doesn't like him at first, but begins to fall in love with him too. He follows her on the trail to make sure she is o.k. She finds an old cabin on the trail, and finds that Uncle Nate has put all of Jessie and Rose's stuff there. Sharon Creech is an unbelievable writer. She makes reading be the most exciting part of the day. I encourage any age reader to read this book. It is a heartwarming sad story, and it will change your life forever.
Rating: Summary: Strong Beliefs Review: I believe that this book is a very good example of strong beliefs at work. This book starts off with a very wise saying; "Life is like a bowl of spaghetti, once in a while you get a meatball." That's how life is and that is how this book is too. It is the story of a girl named Zinnia,Zinny for short who's cousin Rose died when she was four. Her aunt Jessie also dies nine years later and Zinny feels responsible for both deaths. Zinny has a bunch of brothrs and sisters and nobody can tell them apart. Zinny feels like she dosn't own her life; she feels like she has to share that with her siblings too. Then she finds the trail. That is like a meatball to her. Since she found the trail, she calls it her trail. Naturally now her brohters and sisters want to help her uncover the trail and Zinny feels scandalized but her siblings lose interest and all is well. In the middle of all this an old family friend moves back to Bybanks. He gives Zinny presents but instead of feeling good she feels sad because she is used to boys giving her presents so yhey can get through to her older sister. Read to find out if Zinny finishes the trial, if Jake really likes her and if she can move on with her aunt and cousins death. I absolutely love this book and read it in one sitting. Zinny is a character stuck in the past. I think that all the other characters inhanced the book greatly and the book is very good with them. You need to pay attention to all the characters and how they progress in the story. I think I felt whatever Zinny throughout the book because Sharon Creech did such a good job portraying Zinny's feelings through words. This book just shows tha if you believe in some thing it will come true.
