Rating: Summary: One of the most inspirational books ive ever read! Review: I had never read any of Sharon Creech's books before and this was my first. Only a year before I had finally finished a list of mystery books and had wondered if there was anything good left to read. Now I realise that there is alot more than what I thought. This book is surely one of the most inspirational books that I have ever read. And I have read quite a few. This is only the 2nd book that I have ever read that I sincerely wished would continue on and on, never ending. Part mystery, part romance, part adventure this book has somthing for everyone and the author paints a portrait of life in small town, backwoods america that should be appreciated by all. The way she paints a perfect picture of the quiet stillness of the hills and forests of kentucky is so relaxing, you feel as if you are actualy there and you yearn to explore those woods behind your house like you did as a child. This definatly brings back the memories of childhood and innocence and first love, the inner burning desire to explore into the thicket to see where it goes. To find your own path. This book will definately hold a special place in my library for as long as i live.
Rating: Summary: this book is the best book ever Review: When I first picked this book up I thought it was going to be all about redbirds but it barely has any redbirds in it. Zinnia is a girl with a large family and a mind of her own. She decides to go exploring and meets all kinds of things such as bears, owners of the land she was not supposed to be on, and in the end a surprise about her family. This book is very emotional and although it seems long you will want the story to continue on when the book is finished. I have read other books of Sharon Creech and I think this book is the best(along with The Wanderer). I would read this book if you either have a large family, are adventurous, or just curios about the book. I think anyone would enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird Review: I know it is complicated to believe in things you can't see. But, have you ever seen with your mind and your thoughts? Well, the realistic fiction noval, Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech, is about a girl named Zinny Taylor, who must learn to believe in someone even though she can't see this someone. Zinny Taylor, the main character, is a teenage girl who understands that seeing is believing. The only way she'll be able to see what her uncle sees is if she just believes. The setting of the story is in Bybanks, Kentucky. But it mostly takes place in the forest and through valleys that her trail leads her through. She has lived in Bybanks her whole life. The story takes place in the 1960s or the 1970s. The setting affects Zinny because she must finish her trail before the end of summer, or in three weeks. Will she make it? During the plot Zinny must try to uncover the mysteries hidden in her newly found trail, which is going to be difficult to keep from her three sisters and three brothers. In her mind she plans to go alone. Kepping the trail to herself is not the first obstacle, now she must face the real obstacles on her long journey to the other side to where the trail ends. I thought this book was probably the best book I have ever read. Wait a minute:it is the best book I have ever read! I would rate this book a ten on a scale of one to ten, because Chasing Redbird helped me to understand how it feels to want something so bad you'd go any height to get it. Zinny was determined to uncover the trail, as well as see what her uncle sees. She hiked the trail everyday, camping out in the middle of nowhere, alone. Never giving up helps her to see and believe in herself and in others. I think anyone (a boy or girl) would enjoy reading this surprizingly, shocking story. Will she uncover the true facts and secrets of her trail? Will she be able to see what her uncle sees? Make sure to read Chasing Redbird to fing out!
Rating: Summary: Creech's best yet! Review: This is defenitelly the Creech's best book yet! No, wait this is the best book ever! 13 year old Zinnia (Zinny) Taylor finds herself on an extrodonary edventure when she finds an old path in her yard. Zinny's aunt dies and she feels as if the death is all her fault, she feels the same way about her cousin Rose's death. Now she feels as if she has to uncover the trail.
Rating: Summary: Somewhat disturbing. . . Review: This book had some good points, but like one of the other reviewers here, I found the scene where Zinny covered her uncle's face with the pillow to be discomfiting, especially for the target audience of 9-12 year olds. Another thing that bothered me was that Aunt Jessie and Uncle Nate acted too old. They couldn't have been more than in their 50's, but the way they were described made them seem like they were in their 70's. Part of my reaction may be due to the fact that I listened to the book on audio tape, and I really did not enjoy the narration by Kate Harper. When she did the voice of Zinny's sister Mae, she used a very annoying whine. Maybe the way she did Jessie and Nate's voices is what made them seem old to me. I also agree with other reviewers that it is unlikely that any parents would let their 13 year old daughter camp alone for days at a time in the woods. On the plus side, I did like the way the author portrayed Zinny's struggle with coming to terms with the deaths of her cousin and her aunt. Also, I'm from a big family, so I could relate to feeling so crowded by all those siblings and to the difficulty of finding your own identity. I also liked the way Zinny began to see her parents as human beings with feelings of their own. All and all, a pretty good book with some flaws, but still worth reading.

Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird a review by Nicole Review: In the Newbery Award winning book Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech, the protagonist, Zinny, has a tough time going through life. It is like she is not even there to her family. She has many brothers and sisters, and her Aunt Jessie and Rose died. She loved them so much. In the story she kind of killed them. She is upset. He also has her own trail in which she clears for a hobby. Toward the end of the book Zinny finds out the facts that she did not understand before. One scene was when Zinny and Uncle Nate go up to a cottage that Zinny found. Uncle Nate tells Zinny that Aunt Jessie, Rose, and he used to come up here, and it would be a nice little peace house. While they are in the cabin Uncle Nate faints, but he soon becomes better. Why did she not know this? Another event is when Zinny finds out Jake has been stealing all of these things just so he could show Zinny he really likes her. But does he like one of her sisters? She also finds out facts about her own childhood with Rose. What was childhood like and what did she find out about other friends and family? Find out in the book called Chasing Redbird!
Rating: Summary: Casing Redbird Review Review: Chasing Redbird was a great book. It was one of those books that you have to keep reading because it keeps getting better and you can't put it down. Chasing Redbird is about a 13 year old girl named Zinny. Zinny is from a big family where everyone always mixes her and her sisters up. She is tired of being mixed up with them all the time. During the summer she finds a trail covered up and she plans to uncover it. She wants to be known for something and for everyone to know who she is. She finds out stuff about her family that she never knew about them. Also a guy that likes her so much that he would do anything for her, even if it means getting in trouble with the law. This was a very good book and I think that you should read it.
Rating: Summary: Chasing Redbird- the chase of keeping up! Review: Chasing Redbird was an extroardinary book that brought out the ambituous side of most teenagers. Zinnia Taylor, a 13 year old girl from ByBanks stumbles upon a trail leading to Chocton, surprisingly in her own backyard. At the beginning of the book the author, Sharon Creech, sort of skipped around and right in the middle of the action, a new chapter would appear out of nowhere! It was definitely hard for me to keep up with the splitting of the chapters. Chasing Redbird was one of my most favorite books of all now. Although, it hasn't totally reached 5 stars yet. ;) Zinnia sort of reminds me of a strange friend that I have, sort of ironic i guess! The creativeness of this story is truly shown with how Creech brings out exactly who each character was. It was inspiring to young writers to read through the lines and see exactly what Sharon Creech could come up with. But in the end, the trail brings out the history and the story is truly tied together. That's what I liked most about Chasing Redbird, the fact that even through all of the stuff that's happened to Zinnia, she never gave up on the path. That what makes a good book!
