Summary: Cliff Hanger
Review: I picture this book, The Last Book in the Universe, in my head perfectly, and I think that it would make a great movie. The plot is that Spaz(the main character) has to save his sister, Bean, from dying of a disease while he is practically in hell. He is in a horrible place because in the future the Big Shake happens (a horrible earthquake tragedy when the world becomes a terrible place where almost everyone is evil). This book reminds me of The Giver, by Lois Lowry, because they both take place in the future. I think Rodman Philbrick has high expectations of being a great author. I really hope that he decides to make a sequel to this book. It is very clever of Rodman to use a cliffhanger at the end of this book, so that everyone who reads the first book will probably want to read the second. I liked this book because it was an exciting journey the whole way through. I recommend that Rodman Philbrick write a lot more books than just the sequel.

Summary: Eden vs.the Urb
Review: To me, this book was exciting because the plot kept me reading. Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick is about a boy
named Spaz. The world he lives in, the depressing Urb, is a land ruled by gangs. Eden is a place where genetically improved
people (proovs) live; it is a beautiful place with grass and blue sky. Spaz receives a letter telling him that his sister will soon die and
that she needs to see him. Spaz, an old man named Ryter, a proov named Lanaya, and a little boy go on an adventure to find
her. Many different things happen on their adventure to see his sister and they run into different characters like Lotti Getts a latch
boss and Billy Bizmo another latch boss. The unique style of writing that Philbrick writes with, such as using "gummy" to mean an
old person, makes the story very interesting to readers of all ages. The book is easy to read and easy to understand. The ending
of the book isn't very good though because it doesn't really close up the story.

Summary: An amazing read
Review: An excellent and completely absorbing story, ... and if you like this you should read the book "Feed" by M. T. Anderson, or vice versa.

Summary: Could the future be like this?
Review: I think The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick is an extremely adventurous book that I continue to think about. The
book's effect is similar to the effect of Jurassic Park or the Terminator 2. I start to think; could this really happen? The book loses a star because of the cliffhanger ending. This book takes place in the future. It is not a nice future; it is ruled by gangs and the people use probes, a kind of hallucinogen. There is only one escape from the wretched world: a place called Eden which has green grass, blue sky, and genetically improved people called "proovs" There is an orphan boy named Spaz who was disowned by
his family because he is epileptic. His sister, Bean, who is living with the family who disowned him, gets sick, so he comes to see her. In his adventure, a child who can only say "chox" an old book-writing geezer, and a conceited proov accompany him. ... I totally recommend this book, and it doesn't matter if you're an adult because you won't be bored. If Philbrick writes a sequel, buy it.

Summary: The Last Book in the Universe
Review: This book is extremely good. The auther does a great job in this book, getting the readers attention and holding it. I could hardly put the book down. This book is a mixture of mystery with adventure. I can honestly say this was the best book that I have ever read, the only regret I gave about this book is that there isn't a sequal.
The book is about a boy named Spaz. Spaz is living on Earth after a big quake destroyed most all of it. Spaz was seperated by his latch family ( he was adopted) and is stuck living three latches away from them. Well one day spaz receives word that his sister Bean is very sick and she wants to see him. So Spaz teams up with an old gummie named Ryter and a little boy nicknamed Little Face, and travels across the three latches to get to his sister. On their journey they are attcked my mobs and latch Bosses, and they even manage to rescue a beautiful proov girl. The only way to save Bean is to take her to Eden (the place where proovs, or genetcally enhanced beings, live). The only thing bad thing about this is that no regular human like Bean is permitted to enter Eden. They sneak Bean in and cure her of a disease know as the blood disease. After they cure her Bean, Spaz, and Ryter are kicked out of Eden and return home.
Other books that I recommend if you liked this book are are Max the Mighty and Freak the Mighty.

Summary: great book
Review: I thought this was a very good book. It had a great message to readers and an excellent description of characters. It shows images of what Earth could be in the future if we're not careful: a world of violence and a world without books or stories. It makes you really think. It's a nice book to read and have a discussion in a book club or English class. The plot was confusing in some parts but this is still a great book for free time reading.

Summary: Post--Apocalyptic Fiction
Review: This is the first book I read by Rodman Philbrick. And I must say I was pleasantly surprised!
It takes place in the wake of what the main character, Spaz calls the "Great Shake".
Apparently a gargantuan earthquake has left the world in ruins and a new world order has emerged. Some live out in the ruins... (The have nots) and some live in a paradise like utopiah, eden... (The haves).
Our main character, Spaz is the lowest of the low. One totally shunned because of his disability, apparently he has epilepsy.
He comes of age trying to find a way to get to his ailing sister.
This story is enjoyable and interesting. I recommend it to fans of futuristic fantasy.

Summary: The Universe is Upon Us
Review: The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick is one of the best books I have read. It has great compelling writing and a deeper meaning. It shows what the world could look like in the future, and the daily life of someone living there. Philbrick shows how bad the future might be without books.
Nobody reads anymore. Why bother, when you can just use a mind probe needle and shoot all the images and excitement straight into your brain?

Summary: My thoughts:
Review: This was a very interesting book. It started out a little boring but then it got pretty good. Some of the words in the book are made up, so sometimes it gets hard to follow. The plot of the story was really good. It was basically about a boy, named Spaz, who was trying to get to his sister before she died. They called him Spaz because he was epileptic. He had to overcome so many obstacles just to get to her. As he was preparing to make his journey, he came across an old man named, Ryter. They called him that because he was fixated with writing a book. At this time nobody read books. He wanted to change this, though. Spaz had "ripped" off the old man earlier in the book. This means he took all of his personal belongings, except his book. For some reason Spaz didn't want to deprive the man of writing.
They started their journey by crossing through pipes to get through all of the "latches" or city limits. There is a group of people who are genetically improoved. They are called proovs. Spaz and Ryter run in with a proov. This isn't any proov though, she has been chosen to be the future master of Eden, the place the proovs live. She ends up helping Spaz get to his sister. She brakes a lot of rules to save her.
Over all it was a very good book. It kept you guessing, and had a very surprising ending. I would reccomend this book to all of my friends, and to anyone who likes adventure books.
