Summary: Amazing
Review: I'd never heard of these books before, but a friend recommended them so I got them. I started out a bit confused, because they're not written like anything I'd ever read before (and I've read an awful lot). But once you catch on to the language, once you start seeing the things she's describing with so much delight and understanding, you can't stop.

These books are amazing.... full of color and poetry, joy and movement and magic (good and bad). There's a lot of life in these books. They make the world a fun place to be again.

It really doesn't matter how old you are when you read them, they're like peaches and blueberries: you love 'em as a kid, you love 'em as a teen, you'll be putting 'em in a blender and still eating 'em mushy when you have no teeth left (or maybe getting the large print version is a better example, but you know what I mean.) And can you imagine never having tasted a peach, and trying a really ripe, sweet one for the first time as an adult? That's what these books are like.

Summary: Unrealistic.
Review: I found the book a little hard to believe. What was the point? It was too unrealisitc. Striking it rich, when My Secret Agent Lover Man appears out of nowhere. Yes, it was a wish-come-true, but a genie? The book doesn't explain the details. It feels like a hollow book, no meaning. I think that some people, who are more into this type of stuff may enjoy it, but I found it to be just a bunch of hocus pocus. Good thing I got it at the library first.

Summary: Beautiful
Review: With a luminous magical realism style, Block tells the stories of Weetzie Bat and her family and friends in the five books collected here. Usually marketed for a young adult audience, the books are more for the young at heart, covering adult themes like AIDS, racism, and sex. These heartwarming books overall tell about what a family really is: a group of people who care about each other through it all. ... It's the story of a young gay boy trying to find another like him, as well as his place in his family and the world.

Summary: Amazing & beautiful
Review: I'm a fifteen year old girl and I LOVE to read, but last year I had a problem with actually sitting down & taking time out to read a good book. I had had this book for about two years before I actually started reading it, and I absolutely loved it. It got me back into reading once I started, and I ended up finishing the book in about three weeks. For those few weeks, I entered a world full of love, beauty, glitz, glam, romance, and truth. I couldn't take my eyes off of the pages. I can't even tell you how much I loved this book, it was just such an awesome way to start off my "summer reading". I recommend it for anyone who is tired of getting fed TV & movies, and would dare to dive into a piece of beautiful literature (and their imagination!)
