Summary: I want to live with Weetzie Bat now!
Review: Lanky Lizards! These books are my favorites, of all time. Francesca Lia Block writes so well, I'm astounded every time I read them. I would love to star in movies, and live with loving friendly people, instead of where I do now! They're sort of an escape. Everyone and anyone should read these! I loved 'em!

Summary: Where's the magic?
Review: I read the previous reviews and was very taken with the description of this book.... The stories were described as modern fairy tales, "transcendant", rich with meaning, etc. Having ordered the book, received it and skimmed it, I would like to note that I found the writing disappointingly impoverished. The character and descriptions are flat. In addition, alluding to these stories as "fairy tales" and acceptable reading material for children and young teens is outrageous. The characters live dissolute lives, and there are many offbeat sexual situations. It simply is not suitable for those under 18. And there's much better written literature out there.... try Barbara Kingsolver, for instance.

Summary: delicious
Review: Like gorgeous rainbow-speckled bubbles as pale as Weetzie Bat's spiky hair, these five mini-novels stick out among the drabness of young adult literature. Unexpectantly flamboyant and utterly breathtaking, these novels offer a slice of something which young adult readers have been wanting for years: the truth. Disguised with feathers, glitter, genies and witch babies, we see from these novels a truthful portrayl of modern life. Important issues are addressed in Block's flighty, optimistic style, leaving the reader savoring every bite.

Summary: Simply an amazing book.
Review: This book may be catergorized as a childrens book, but it relates to both the young and the old. After reading this book-i read it again. The style may be simple, but the poetic writing slowly envelopes you and before you know it you are taken into the story and the lives of the characters. A great read for anyone.

Summary: Unbelieveable
Review: Where can you start describing Francesca Lia Block's writing? It's of a different world, it's transcendant. She writes with such an amazing, lyrical style, it baffles the mind. It's almost scart how good these books are.

The descriptions, the characters, the......okay, hold on...... ::breathes:: ....okay, I'm back. The thing about her writing is that she tackles very sensitive topics (homosexuality, bisexuality, rape, child molestation, sex changes) with such gentleness and ease it makes them seem like the most natural things in the world. The romance between **** and ****, two guys, is one of the sweetest I have ever read. Witch Baby and Angel Juan also make a wonderful couple. My rating? One thousand times ten.

Summary: AWESOME
Review: I have only read the first three of these books, they are so awesome. I love the way she aludes to brands and other parts of todays life. The books are exiting, she doesnt try to make it seem as if everone lives in a suburb with a white picket fence

Summary: A mango shower and stars kissing you like lightning
Review: I've just read others' reviews and I must say that it is true, this book is truly a love it or hate it variety. I first read it many years ago when it came out and it has been my favorite book ever since, bumping A Wrinkle in Time out of the limelight. There are no words to describe the type of effect this book has upon a person...just magic. Those that don't like this story, most likely have lost the spark that gives us reason to be truly alive. Its a story of love, of heartache, of beauty, hope, family and it is one of the rare things I've ever found that allows a person to recapture the sweetness and creativity of magical childood. Just think like Anne of Green Gables. Henry David Thoreau wrote of "Sucking the marrow out of life" which this story does, as well as sucking on all the honeyed language that has grown so dead.

Summary: Every girl in the world should read Dangerous Angels.
Review: I struggle to read any book longer than 200 pages, and I flew through this collection of 5 stories in less than a week. Francesca Lia Block's words touched my heart and made sense to me in a way I didn't even know books could do. After reading Dangerous Angels, I ran out to my library, and found the titles of her other books. I've read every story by her, and they're all amazing. She's an absolute goddess and I get so excited when I'll read what she's written about zines. The coverage of topics is so slinkster cool. Every girl in the world should pick up Dangerous Angels.

Summary: 4 billion glittering stars
Review: Read this book! After reading the shimmering stories in this book, I was once again taken back to a time where books were magic. As a librarian and avid reader, I have rarely read books that captured image and feeling such as the classics of my early reading days -- C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L' Engle. Francesca Lia Block creates a world that you want to step into. I recommend this book to teenagers, however, I am 24 and completely enjoyed it!! Block creates characters whom you wish you could meet, talk with, and eat peanut-butter/bananna sandwiches with -- particularly Witch Baby. If you don't know who she is, read the book to find out!!

Review: This is not just a book for young adults. I read this book when I was 21 and I fell in love with it. Please read this book; it will open your mind and change your life. Francesca Lia Block is simply marvelous.
