Summary: enchanting
Review: I thought Dark Angle was very mysterious & enchanting. The angle, or Gary was an awsome creation by L.J.Smith. Until the end you never know if he is good or evil. As for Gillian, I thought it was intresting watching her change from a wimp to a strong person. Sometimes you need to try something new, & that is exactly what L.J.Smith did with this book.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not the best
Review: I was dissapointed with this book. It is my least favorite of the Night World books so far (I have read up to Black Dawn) I think L. J. Smith can write and has written much better books(ie: Daughters of Darkness, Secret Vampire, and The Chosen)

Summary: Dark Angel
Review: I would just like to say that that 'Dark Angel' is one of the best Night World books! I am fed up of people thinking it's boring because it isn't! So what if Gillian is not a super heroine like the ones in the other Night World books? It makes a nice change. Everyone says that it's stupid she wants to be popular but wouldn't you(unless you already are)? Everyone seems to hate David as well but I think he's a great guy. He cheated in the SATs but then he was desperate. The other characters in this book are really funny as well. My advice is to go get it! NOW!

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I've read all of the Night World books, and this is a great book, but I must say, it's not L. J. Smith's best

Summary: not the best book!!
Review: In this book, not only is there no real "love" scenes, but to top it off, the girl's cousin tries to convince her that he is her soulmate. Granted, Angel is dead, but he's still related to her and definately should NOT be trying to catch his own cousin. Ewww. To top off the wrongness that is this book, there is barely any mention of vamps and stuff. Also, this is a 'coming of age' story about how being popluar isn't the most important. I love every other Night World book, but this is retarded.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: I thought it wasn't as good as the other Night World books
Review: It wasn't as good as the other books in the series. I enjoyed Daughters of Darkness the most so far. I have bought every Night World novel that has been released and can't wait for new ones.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: My Favorite!
Review: It's true, this book wasn't completely like all the other books in the series, but... so what? Although most people find Gillian wimpy, I found her easier to relate to than some legendary type of heroine. I loved the characters, and this is the book that latched me onto the series. Lisa Jane Smith has done it again!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Ranks about 7th on the Night World series scale
Review: Like Spellbinder (or Enchantress as it's known in Oz), Dark Angel once again features human boyos. Oh, and for some people who didn't know, males can be witches too but I won't say anymore.

Basically, the story is about a rather silly, misguided girl called Gillian who nearly drowns in ice-cold water because she hears crying and takes it into her daft brain to trudge through snow to 'rescue' this person. As she speeds towards the light (yes, through a tunnel), a beautiful being stops her. His name? Call me Angel he says. So she does just that. She manages to get picked up by a boy she has had a crush on for a long time - David Blackburn.

Soon Gillian starts hearing Angel's voice in her head and sometimes she sees him. He promises to make her beautiful, popular and desirable - things she has never been before. Gillian carries out all his requests without fail and David (the human guy) falls in love with her. Slowly though, Angel's requests become more bizarre and the consequences could be very, very dangerous. To reassure her, Angel tells her he would never harm her because he is her soulmate.

Meanwhile, Gillian finds out that she is a lost witch (a witch who doesn't know her heritage) and her first trip to a Night World club almost turns out to be a disaster but for the timely appearance of one of our favourite characters - Ash. Increasingly worried and frustrated, and with the help of David, Gillian tries to find out who Angel really is.

I have quite a few gripes with this book. Firstly: Gillian is a stupid, feather brained little idiot who thinks that beauty and popularity are what really matter. She's not happy with who she is and has nothing better to do than pine for David.

This brings me to my next point. David is a self-absorbed, stuck up moron who only likes Gillian after her amazing transformation from shy duckling (well she's not ugly) to beautiful swan. However, before he drove her home after rescueing her, he hadn't actually noticed her. Then because she's dolled up and popular, he falls over himself trying to be her boyfriend although he already has a girlfriend.

Then we have Angel. He is better compared to the two blithering idiots who are the main antagonists but is a whole class below the other characters in the Night World Series. He has a dark past (doesn't almost every boyo these days?) and a terrible secret. His angelic appearance belies his inner nature as he slowly manipulates Gillian in his own plans.

Thankfully, Ash saves the day and hence the extra star. With his heroic, dashing, charming ways (maybe I exaggerate) he saves Gillian and the book too. Maybe some people would enjoy this but I could not really understand how Gillian felt and her brain works a lot differently to mine so maybe that's another reason I dislike her.

Read it but don't buy it.
