Rating: Summary: Nothing to do with the Night World Review: 'Dark Angel' is probably the worst book in the Night World series for the simple reason that is isn't actually ABOUT the Night World. Gillian Lennox is a bit of a drip who spends her life dreaming about David Blackburn and of being popular when one day she wanders off the road after the sound of a child crying. It is there in the snow that she...well...dies. After a few confusing chapters of tunnels of light, grass meadows and doorways, she somehow manages to find herself back in the snow, shivering and stiff. But there is a difference - she is now accompanied by a strange boy named Angel who only she can hear and sometimes see. The very next day Angel begins whispering to her the 'secrets' of popularity which makes her a shining star in her high school, gaining the attention of her darling David. Here is the first mistake of this novel - it chases after the ever-elusive mystery of popularity. This plot is so over-used that I could have written several chapters myself. Anyway, Gillian laps up the new attention as Angel guides her through the ups and downs of being cool, in some situations that are just not plausible enough to work properly. Eventually, Gillian turns out to be a 'lost witch', one of the grand-children of the twins Elspeth and Emmeth Harman, the siblings of the Crone of all the Witches - Edgith Harman. Angel guides her in the crafting of spells and into the Night World briefly (and I emphasise BRIEFLY) where Ash Redfern makes a cameo appearence. When Angel gradually begins making stranger and stranger requests of her she finally turns to David to help her sort it out. This book simply isn't interesting enough to hold a person's attention for very long, there's barely any Night World and the supernatural elements are based on a life-after-death senario instead of the usual vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters and 'found' witches. Even if it was a novel by itself, it wouldn't of been a very good one. A few chapters are too long and ramble too much, the entire plot has been done before and thus is very predictable, the romance is nothing special, and in the context of the Night World series it sticks out like a sore thumb. There are a few references to books past and present, but on the whole you can easily skip this book and move onto the next, as it doesn't do anything for the steadily growing back-story in the Night World series.
Rating: Summary: Review of Night World: Dark Angel Review: Are you looking for a book with surprising turnouts, paranormal happennings, and even a little bit of humor here and there? If so, head to Night World! The Night World is a place where all of the most mystifying and terrifying "figments of your imagination" are very, very real. In the book Dark Angel, teen-aged Gillian Lennox is about to take her first step into this strange world. But she doesn't know it. When she has a near death experience, she is save by an angel named, well, named Angel. With the help of her new found friend, Gillian goes from childish and unknown to mature and popular overnight. I think that L. J. Smith did a good job creating Gillian and Angel. Gillian reminds me of my best friend, Angel is like the funny guy who you want to remain just friends with. Anyhow, If I were to say any more about the story, I would be giving away some of the suprises in this book, of which there are a lot. That's another great part of this book. There is so much surprise in this book that I'm having a hard time writing a decent report about it because I REALLY don't want to spoil it for you. So if you think the story sounds intresting from what I've told you, you haven't seen anything yet! take my word for it. Visit the Night World today by reading Dark Angel!!!
Rating: Summary: Good Review: Even though it was not my favorite, it was a good book. THE HUNTRESS and SOULMATE are my faves.

Angel tells Gillain to hurt people to get what she wants. it gets to the point where Gillain can't take it anymore and she wants him to go away. Gillain gets into alot of trouble with Angel and doesn't know how to make him go away. So what Gillain does is she... *Want to know the rest, read the book and you'll find out* I'ts a really good book!
Rating: Summary: This book wasn't near as good as the others Review: Gillian came off as a wimp. Angel was ok. They should have made Gillian seem more like a real girl and not someone from a soap opera.
Rating: Summary: Can she really be a witch? Review: Gillian is a quiet girl. Then someone comes into her life telling her she is a a witch. Is it true? Read this book to find out!
Rating: Summary: Great Story but the romance dissapointed me Review: Good book but... David. Is. An. Idiot!!! Even after they got together I still felt like he was treating Gillian like a little sister and the guy just seemed like he had gotten his head knocked in with a football to many times. Most of the story revolves around Gillian and her discovering she's a powerful witch and David just seemed to be along for the ride. He is no Ash, he is no Gabriel, heck, even Thea's guy (what's his name?) was more intriguing . Since I love everything L.J's written and reading about Gillian discovering her unusual heritage was enough for me and Angel made up enough for the personality of 10 David's I'm not ranting and raving. This is a great book with some very funny scenes.
Rating: Summary: L. J. Smith rules Review: I absolutly love L. J. Smiths writing She seems to capture me in her work and everything is going on around me feel free to e-mail me at any time Bincksy7@aol.com
Rating: Summary: I can't belive LJS wrote this Review: I am a huge LJS fan, I have read almost all of her books well over 10 times except this one. It was so boring I really disliked to book. It didn't have anything to do with the NW until the book was almost done, and Gillian was so pathetic and whimpy. David.... I really didn't like his character at all.
Rating: Summary: Four and a Half Stars Review: I believe that you shouldn't take all reviews into account when purchasing a book. Because the reviews for this book was pretty dismal i decided not to buy it, but my sister had other thoughts and gave it to me on my birthday and i have to say thank god!
This book isn't as bad as everyone says. Okay sure, Gillian appears a little superficial at the start but then everyone is superficial, even if it's only a tad. Miss Smith makes the reader relate to Gillian though and as you get to know her you see that she isn't all that superficial, she just wants to fit in like every teenager.
The plot was more four star but the characters were believeable, good and the dialoge and pace was great. Over all it was a four and a half star but you only have four or five so i stepped it up half a star.
