Summary: Dreamland, the best book for teenage girls!
Review: Caitlin, a 16 year old girl's world crumbles after her perfect, loving older sister runs away woth her love interest instead of going to Yale. Caitlin felt lost and confused until she met Rogerson Biscoe. "The first time I met Rogerson. He was standing next to his black BMW, arms crossed and looking down at his car. As I walked passed him his head came up and he gave me the most mysterious smlie I have ever seen, and his eyes were deep green and intense. I relized I was staring, but some how, I couldn't stop."After her encounter Caitlin knew there was somrthing diffrent about Rogerson the she had to have. Caitlin finhs herself stuck in the middle of drugs, alcohol, and in between Rogerson 's fist. Caitlins life becomes even harder as time goes on. Caitlins whole worl is flipped upside down In Dreamland.

Dreamland is a phenominal book that all teenage girl's should read.Dreamland was written by Sarah Dessen. Sarah has also written, That Summer, Someone like You, amd Keeping the Moon. The book really showa how one bad decision can ruin your life. The author went into a lot of detail about Caitlin and her emotions. It also talks about how hard abusive relationships are when you truly "love" the person. I am very glad that I got to read Dreamland.

Summary: Wow- really believable!
Review: If you've ever read a newspaper article and thought, "I would never let that happen to me"- this is a great read for you. Sarah Dessen is such an amazing writer that as Caitlin struggles, you struggle with her, and as she falls in love with Rogerson, despite the fact that we know his many faults, we can't help but fall with her. IT's one of those, "read it in one sitting books" because it's so hard to put down. Extrodinarily real and believable.

Summary: Dessen is an amazing writer!
Review: Despite the fact that I am not a teenager, who this book is more aimed at, I loved it! I had found it relatively cheap, and thought I'd buy it instead of getting it out of the library. I am a fledgling writer of YA stories, and I had done some homework on the writers. Sarah Dessen is considered to be a highly respected writer in this field, and I can see why. "Dreamland" was a incredibly good story about an impending senior, Caitlin O'Koren, and how her life changes after her "perfect" sister, Cass, leaves without saying anything to the family. You see how this affects the entire family. Caitlin
then meets Rogerson, a very intriguing character who I right away, liked. It was almost too easy, but as the story progresses we learn some dark secrets about him that do not make him a likable character, but you can't help but feel sorry for him.
One thing, as a parent, that I learned is that parents can often not even know their own teenaged children. I have discovered that it's truly important to have an open and honest relationship with your teenagers, at least as much as you can. The parents in the story are so far away, and don't have a clue about what is really going on as they are too busy with their own lives and also many parents have far too high expectations of their teens as well. Teenagers are people, but they are going through an extremely unique period in life. Caitlin really came to life for me,. This is an extremely well told tale of a teenager's life as she embarks on a journey of self discovery while dealing with losing her sister and being abused by her boyfriend.
It's worth buying!! Dessen is a true visionary in the YA lit. world. I hope I can be that good a writer someday.

Summary: Dreamland
Review: Dreamland by Sarah Dressen is one of the best books I have ever read. I have read quite a few books, but this one sticks with me. Sixteen-year-old Caitlin’s world is turned upside down after her older sister runs away. Since her older sister is no longer in the spotlight, Caitlin feels she needs to make a few changes in her life. One of these changes is a good one. The result of this change brings her popularity. All that changes after she meets a mysterious and brilliant boy named Rogerson Briscoe. If you want to find out what happens to Caitlin, get this book.

Summary: A Beautifully Written Masterpiece!
Review: This novel consists of a young sixteen year old girl, Catlin, whom has a sister named Cass, two years older, who just ran away with her loved one. In a journey to be different from her sister, she encounters mysterious Rogerson. Rogerson is into inappropriate behaviors and eventually abuses Catlin. Catlin finds it impossible to let him go, because she loves him. Though at the same time his dark eyes right before he hits her, leaving her bruised and defenseless, makes her spine chill. You will not be able to resist putting down this book. I LOVED IT!

Summary: Still amazing
Review: I've read this book three times now, and it still astounds me how real the writing, plot, and characters feel. Rogerson is Sarah Dessen's best written character to date. You know while reading the book that you're supposed to hate him, but before he starts hitting Caitlin you actually start to feel sympathetic to his character, especially after the scene where his father hits him. She makes him a very memorable character with the trivia he always seems to know the answers to. So many authors would make him a clear cut villian type, but instead Sarah Dessen makes you hate him one minute and feel sorry for him the next.
This book is so much more than just a story about an abusive relationship, too. It's more of a story about a girl's downward spiral after she feels her family doesn't value her. One thing I've noticed about this book, is that the more into the relationship with Rogerson Caitlin gets, the less she sees of her family and friends. The author could have just told the reader that, but instead she shows it, by having less and less of Boo and Stewart, Rina, and even Caitlin's mom and dad in the book.
I admit that I don't like the last 30 pages as well as the rest of the book. It's okay, but not nearly as powerful and good as it could, or should, have been. Nevertheless, this is an amazing book you won't soon forget.

Summary: A good look at teenage life
Review: Dreamland by Sarah Dessen was a good novel. It served as a good look into teenage life & all the aspects that can be involved. Most people think of teenagers as sex-crazed & a lot of drug & alcohol usage, which is true, but this book showed the other side to that. I read Dreamland very quickly & overall enjoyed it. I would recommend it as one of the better young adult books, when most are cheesy & lack any importance.

Summary: Marvelous
Review: I bought this book less than 24 hours ago, and I am already finished reading it. It is wonderfully written; I felt every emotion along with Caitlin. I laughed, cried, winced when I knew Rogerson was about to strike again, and was saddened when I was finished the final page.

Review: Dreamland Review
By: Katrina Lester

On the morning of her 16th birthday, Caitlin O'Koren wakes up to find that her sister, Cass has run away to be with her boyfriend in New York. Cass has always been the perfect sister. She was a good student, a good athlete, and a good friend. She even had a scholarship to go to Yale in the fall ' that is before she disappears. Now, in the absence of her sister, Caitlin feels the need to find her own identity apart from Cass. She does this by entering into a relationship with Rogerson, a guy beset with his own issues.

'I glanced back at Rogerson. He lifted his chin at me, smiling. It was a gesture I would associate with him for the rest of my life. And I saw myself, then, setting out across uncharted territory, places I had never been or seen or even heard of. My world was suddenly wide and limitless, as vast as the sky and starts I'd been dazzled by earlier, and it all started there with the door he was holding open for me (p.56).'

These are the romantic thoughts of Caitlin as she walks through the door of a relationship she hopes holds the answers to her search for identity. However, as she walks through the door of this relationship she walks into a season of drug abuse, intimidation, control, confusion, terror, and physical abuse. Instead of finding herself, Caitlin loses herself and her friendships. Who will help her escape this cycle of abuse? Who will show her that there is a way out?

In this novel, Sarah Dessen paints an accurate picture of a teenage girl in search of love and attention despite the costs. She also shows that hope, healing, and wholeness can occur with time and proper attention.

I would recommend this book to every teenage girl. I feel that this book could help teenagers avoid bad choices in relationships and realize that love is not controlling and intimidating. Hopefully, it can serve as a warning to girls that identity is not found in someone else but within themselves.

Summary: I loved this wonderful piece of literature
Review: Dreamland was a very good book. I feel in love with Rogerson as Caitlin did and by the end of the book we felt the pain that came from Rogerson! The way Rogerson was described you could picture the smell of his skin (sweat and pot) and the dreads that are SEXY. Its Sarah Dessens best book ever and should be read by all teenagers because this really does happen and we should all be informed about it. I love Rogerson and yet I hate him. Rogerson relates to my ex-boyfriend (without the abuse)so I could totally see where this book came from. Y'all should should read it if you are above 8th grade.
