Summary: Excellent
Review: I'm actually 30, but my friend in Long Island is a librarian and she works in the young adult section. She suggested this book and I gave it a try. It was very fast paced, quick, and real. Any young woman out there should pick this book up and give it a go, it teaches many valuable lessons and speaks honestly about sexual and physical abuse in teens. It's more for older teenagers in my opinion, but I think if I was 12/13 I'd still pick this up and read it. Excellent book!

Review: Leslie is a normal teenager who hates school and wants to be popular. Every day in school she writes in her journal and tells about her life. Her parents are divorced and she has a hard time getting along with them. Leslie meets a new popular guy named Jason at school one day. She falls in love with him the first time they kiss and they start dating. Leslie feels like he is perfect even though her closets friends tell her different. She asked Jason and he tells her that she was the one that wanted to go all the way. She feels disrespected but believes that he is telling the truth. Things get worse as their relationship goes on. Leslie's friends start noticing bruises on her and ask what happened, she lies to them by saying she fell or triped somewhere. In her journal she explains how Jason abuses her if she does'nt do what he wants. After a while she starts noticing she needs to get away from him. He will not allow this to happen and tells her he will kill her if she tells anyone. Leslie cant get away from Jason and her life spins out of control. She can't take anymore and finally tells someone. The ending of the book is great. You will not be able to put it down after you start reading it. Leslie's Journal is a suspenseful, fast-paced story about love, friendship, and what it means to stand up for yourself.

Summary: A great journal book
Review: Leslie lives in Canada with a less than easy life. Her grades are down the tubes, her parents have spilt up, and she only has one friend. And to top it off everyone seems to think she's going through another "phase." When her English teacher assigns a journal writing project for class she's less than happy than to start writing in it. At first her pages are filled with insulting her teachers, classmates, and her best friend Katie's mother but when she meets Jason everything changes. Jason is an older guy that thrills her like no other. She's estatic when he asks her out on a date. But when their romance turns dangerous she find that she can't get out, can't escape what she's going through. How will she survive this abusive relationship. Leslie's journal is a great journal about living through an abusive relationship with a horrible guy. Leslie's writings are funny, emotional, and at times shocking, without a shred of self pity. If your a fan of books like Trecherous Love or Speak I reccomend this to you. It's really quite an amazing book.

Summary: Fast paced and suspenseful.
Review: Playwright Allan Stratton's first novel for teens, LESLIE'S JOURNAL, is a cautionary tale about teenage love gone drastically wrong. It all starts with Leslie, an angry, confused, rebellious girl in need of validation. Her days in school are numbered, she has problems at home, and her behavior just may alienate the only friend she has. But just when things couldn't possibly get any worse, she meets Jason --- the totally handsome, totally cool new kid on campus. And when he suddenly kisses her in front of her friends, she's the envy of all her female classmates.

Jason asks Leslie out, and she's on cloud nine, agog with love. On their first date, he takes her to his parents' house instead of the movies and plies her with booze, something she hasn't had much experience with. But she has even less experience with what happens next. Jason follows up his act with apologies, smiles, and flowers; and Leslie is soon on a roller coaster ride through relationship hell with an abusive control freak at the helm.

When Jason isn't forcing himself upon Leslie, he is hitting and threatening her. And when she decides that she's finally had enough, he threatens to blackmail her and even begins stalking her. On top of that, things go from bad to worse when a substitute teacher actually reads the journal Leslie is keeping for her English class. The journals were supposed to be private, but the teacher didn't know. Out of concern, she brings the journal and Leslie's story to the attention of the principal, who doesn't believe one word of it --- she believes the wealthy, upright Jason, not the rebellious, attention-getting Leslie. When Jason gets wind of the latest turn of events, he threatens to kill Leslie.

With nowhere to turn, Leslie's world collapses and she turns to Katie, the only friend she has, sharing everything with her. Together they vow to bring Jason down --- if he doesn't get to Leslie first. She holes up in her apartment and hopes for a miracle, but when Jason's threats increase, she takes things into her own hands. Fast paced and suspenseful, bordering on nightmarish, LESLIE'S JOURNAL will have you on the edge of your seat, white-knuckled all the way.

Review: this book takes on a journey through a *gasps* basically ordinary teenagers life. I know a lot of you are thinking, "wait! my life's nothing like that!" But, a lot of aspects of this book occur everyday, whether we tend to acknowledge them or not. This is a wonderful book for every teenager to read to know that they're not alone!
