Summary: Wow!
Review: This is the best book I have ever read. I would like to congratulate the author on her writing debut! Great book!

Summary: The Writer's Fresh; The Material Is anything But
Review: The author being 14 is just about as interesting the book goes. I must say it's quite an impressive debut for a book, especially for someone of her age. You can read about characters like these in any other novel out there, not to mention how the whole vampire theme has been overblown. Aside from that, the setting was well put. Yet, there is much room for improvement.

Summary: Inspiring
Review: For someone who's the same age as me, she's pretty good! I'm a writer myself and am on my 4th book. I do not write about vampires, ghosts, or anything like she does. This is the first vampire book I ever read and I can not say whether it's original or not, like some people on the reviews were moaning about. I hope to have the luck she does on writing and get published. Good luck with more books. By the way, I loved Aubrey and I'd like to see a book about him and how he became a vampire! He rocks!

Summary: The Forest has Brightened
Review: This Young writer has the possibility of a promising career. The Susspence of the book is thick and keeps the pages turning. The begging of the book leads well to the conclusion. The end is surrprising, yet slightly expected. I liked the way Rachel/ Riska, went back in time to when she was younger [figuritively speaking], it helps you understand the story better. All in all, I think that if you have a young-adult who enjoys thrillers/ vampiers, this is the ideal book to read.

Summary: I'd give it less if I could
Review: All right. We know that the author is young-I myself am 14, and I write too. True, my works haven't been published-and for one good reason: I know not to try. What was this girl thinking, that people over the age of say, eight or nine, would be even slightly interested in this dry and empty tale? It's not truly an all-bad piece of work-but it's nothing that deserves even ONE star. Amelia, I hope you read this and realize your limitations-SOON.

Summary: Worst book I ever read
Review: This was THE WORST book I have ever read in my entire life. First of all, it was way to short for me. I read it in a little over an hour. I felt as If I had just read on of those 3rd grade reading level books. Second of all, this is the most UNORIGINAL book I ever read! Its like the author read a few vampire novels and rewrote them in her own words, which arenot that great. I swear there is not one original idea in this entire story! Third, the story is not that great at all. Many parts are just well, dumb. There is maybe 1, possibly 2 interesting parts in the book. Trust me, this book is not worth buying or getting out of the library.

Summary: I'll buy her next book
Review: First of all, I would like to note that these are only my opinions. Everyone has their own.

I read this book in one sitting, as many readers appear to have done. This wasn't so much because I couldn't put it down; it had more to do with the fact that there wasn't that much there. It is short and sparse, and not terribly original. As previously mentioned, the author also contradicts herself with some regularity. I would actually give this book 2 1/2 stars if I could.

This aside, I did enjoy reading this book, as I enjoy most fantasy/horror/supernatural tales. I have hope for any books that the author will produce in the future. We should all keep reading as encouragement not only to her but to all young authors everywhere. And that way, we can all form our own opinions.

Also, I would like to suggest a few books. For books about another female vampire with attitude, in her teens, read Christopher Pike's 'Last Vampire' series. Another good series with a female perspective is the 'Vampire Diaries' series from L. J. Smith. 'Companions of the Night' (by Vivian Vande Velde), and 'The Silver Kiss' (by Annette Curtis Klause) both feature young women who are dealing with new men (who happen to be vampires) in their lives, and are also well done.

Enjoy your read!

Summary: From the author
Review: When I first started writing In the Forests of the Night, I was in the cafeteria of my junior high. I had written other books before- a pastime I enjoy- but Forests was the one that first drew me into my own world of vampires, shapeshifters and witches. The protagonist of Forests is Risika, a vampire changed in the year 1701, who grapples both with her human morals and a more physical power struggle in the vampiric world. Risika is just one character in my world, but she was the one who first led me through the vampiric city of New Mayhem, and introduced me to her enemies and allies. That world presently contains about two hundred characters, and it is still growing. The more I write, the more deeply I am drawn into the world of New Mayhem, and the more I want to learn about it. There are plenty of other books on their way. To everyone who mentioned that Forests inspired them to write, I can only say thank you. Those comments are better praise than any literary review could be. I look forward to seeing other young authors on the shelves in the near future.

Summary: Pretty darn good for a first timer!
Review: I actually read this book thinking that an adult wrote it, then I read the back and my eyes bugged out when I saw the age of the author! The book was pretty well written, but left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. The story could have used a bit more depth and thought, otherwise it's nothing to sneeze at.

Summary: This Was An Amazing Book
Review: I truly loved Amelia's book. I read it in one day and I continue to read it.. over and over and over again. I really hope there will be a sequel to 'In The Forests Of The Night'. I'd love to know more about Risika and Aubrey. ( I really like Risika's thing about sitting on tables! ) Keep up the great work, Amelia!
