Summary: How Many times can you reread a book?
Review: This book was wonderful. I liked it alot. It had strong characters, and a wonderful plot. I happened to read the second of the series before the first, and It makes more sense now that I've read both of them. This is one talented author.

Summary: I loved it.
Review: I'm a 16-year-old girl who was in awe reading this book. The detail was so perfect that the entire world created seemed frighteningly realistic. I was amazed that someone of this age was capable of writing this, let alone having the ability to locate a publisher.

The story follows a vampire that you begin to feel sympathetic for, and as the story continues you wish that you could help her through her difficult life. And while vampires may not actually exist this book brings them to life in such a way that they seem like anyone else that you would see while walking down the street.

I was also inspired by the fact that this 13-year-old was able to create this entire world hidden behind our own and make it seem so real.

Summary: It simply wasn't that good...
Review: Okay, I wanted to like this book. I really, really did. I was hyped up and should have liked it, if it had been good. But it's not that good. It's not that bad, either, but it's nothing to write home about.

"Forests of the Night" is a rather slender novel (my first novel is almost twice the size) about a vampire (duh duh duh). Tales of how Risika became a vampire centuries ago is interspersed with modern-day interludes, where she is hunting the vampire who turned her into one, one bad dude named Aubrey.

My first quibble with this is originality. The writing style may be good (if a trifle dense for teen-lit) but it can't hide the fact that Ms. Atwater-Rhodes brings little that is new or interesting to vampire lore. In fact, she seems to be ripping off already-successful books and TV-shows, such as "Buffy", Anne Rice, Christopher Pike, and so on. Many of the elements are there to be found.

In fact, there I am indebted to Ms. Atwater-Rhodes. Currently writing a vampire short novel myself, I tried to avoid the cliches and ripoffs that she has here. One spark of originality has vampires employing humans as messengers, henchmen, and so on; also, witches who attack vampires.

But, also, the plot is simply too... simple. Past plot: Risika turns into a vampire. Current plot: Risika attacks Aubrey after killing a few humans. There are twists, but too few of them. Aubrey was the best part of it--he is a very cool vampire (I'd love to write a crossover with my own amoral vampire, Saiya).

I am also slightly annoyed that there are more talented teen writers out there who have a great deal of difficulty being published (and I wish them oodles of luck!). Ms. Atwater-Rhodes is apparently a media object as the "14-year-old-author!", as her book does not stand out as a classic or a particularly interesting book. She has potential, but there is little more here.

I have not yet read the sequel, "Demon in my View", but I have heard less-than-glowing reviews. I will read it, though, and hope that it is more satisfying than "Forests."

Review: i loved in the "forest of the night". it is agreatbook by a great authur. it's weird to think that the authur is only 16and was only 13 when she wrote this book. if you have read this book, you have to read the follow up to it. it is called "demon in my view". with both these books, i wasn't able to put them down. they were so good. i finished them in 3 days. they are filled with very interesting characters. amelia atwater-rhodes is a very promising authur and i can't wait till she puts out a new book! enjoy!

Summary: 5 STARS, 2 THUMBS UP, AND MANY MANY GREAT COMPLMENTS!
Review: Simply put, I love this book! and i find it amazing that a 14 year old could write so good! Take that english teachers everywhere who say teens could never write as well as an `adult`! . I love reading and this is defanitly one of my favorits. I`m 16 years old and i notice that I liked it better than most of the books i have read (and thats a LOT! ) , and I think that thats because its a teen who wrote it. Amelia, if you read this, PLEASE(! ) WRITE more! its an absolutly wicked book and you defantly have a talent! :0)

Summary: IN THE FORESTS OF THE NIGHT
Review: It was really interesting and kept my attention the whole time, so check it out! It was great for a vampire novel, in fact the author (Amelia Atwater-Rhodes) inspired me to write, so maybe she'll inspire you! I can pretty much garantee that you won't be dissapointed.

Summary: Little plot, unoriginal....nice style
Review: The ONLY credit I'll give this book, is that the author has a cool writing style. It's poetic. I'll give it that. However, style doesn't make up for an unoriginal plot, undeveloped characters, and not enough description. In things like vampire novels and fantasy books, it's vital that there is plenty of description so that the reader comes to understand what this world is like. This book doesn't give enough. Also, it seems that the author tries to force themes. I don't think that these problems in the book have anything to do with the author's age, you're never too young to start writing, but she needs to start working on her plots. There are plenty of better books than this one.

Summary: A Great Read
Review: To think that a thirteen-year-old could write a novel to be published is astounding. But add to it the facts that it had wonderful dialogue, a dark atmosphere perfect for the genre, and great vocabulary unexpected of a teen, and you have a book far beyond astounding.

IN THE FORESTS OF THE NIGHT is the short but well written story of Risika, a 300-year-old vampire who is still struggling against the battle between her human "morals" and her vampiric apathy. Then there is Aubrey, an even older and stronger vampire who threatens both Risika and her beloved tiger, Tora. IN THE FORESTS OF THE NIGHT alternates between the year 1701, when Risika was changed, and the present.

The story is full of unwavering suspense, though some may say that the author's style is following the ways of veteran horror novelists like Anne Rice and Stephen King. But overall, an amazing debut from Amelia Atwater-Rhodes!
