Summary: The Secret Garden
Review: The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett, is a very good book. In this story there is a girl, Mary Lennox, who moves to England. One day she discovers a secret garden that was locked away ten years before. She finds the buried key and makes her daily visits to the garden a secret. But one night she wakes up to the crying of a mysterious boy. She finds him and her secret soon becomes his secret, too. Everybody says he is a cripple, but in the end Mary proves them all wrong.
I enjoyed this book immensely. It was a very well written book, but I think that I would have enjoyed it even more if the author had concentrated on more of the little details instead of only concentrating on the main characters.
I would reccomend this book to anybody who loves a good adventure. This book is a very inspirational book in its own way. I think it helps you to open your eyes and enjoy all of the little things in life a lot more.

Summary: A wonderful book that gains meaning as you grow older
Review: The Secret Garden is one of those rare books that actually gains meaning the more times you read it. Like C.S.Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series it is a story that calls to be read again at different times in your life. At age 30 I myself try to read it every year or so and find that when I put it down I am filled with a new openness to the wonders around me, a sort of spiritual rebirth.The novel itself is wonderfully written coming from a time when children's authors did not necessarily "dumb down" their works but instead the children rose to the occassion of reading them. Even so, the book is not overly difficult even for younger readers and should help them learn to gain vocabularly through seeing words used in context. I really can't say enough good things about this book, it's uplifting message and the beautiful language in which it is told. I don't usually recommend movies based on books because I think they take away from the source material, but the most recent British version (starring Maggie Smith, and Kate Maberly among others)is excellent as well and really enhances the enjoyment of the book.

Summary: The Secret Garden
Review: I did't really like this book because it was boring and it wasn't that interesting at all. This book was also boring because it was from the older times and iin those types of books you don't really learn anything from them because you already might know them. You may or may not want to read this book but, thats your decsion to decide. I would recommend this book to girls in the range of third grade to fifth grade. I didn't like this book much at all.

Summary: A Secretly Stupid Garden
Review: This is the worst book I have ever read, and I have read a lot of books. The characters have the intelligence of worms and are about as interesting as one to. The story, unfortunatly, starts, at this huge old house. This bratty and selfish girl goes to life, after her parents died (probably couldn't stand her,...). There she meets this other annoying and bratty kid, who, if possible, may be more selfish than her. They eventually become friends, and discover this garden, that would have been better off stayed hidden, for the sake of the readers. And thats basically it. Beginning. Middle. End. Not even an interesting end. I could barely tell the difference between the beginning and the end. That may be a good thing.

Review: The secret garden is very good and interesting book.
Mary was a main character in the story. She was ten years old and she always looks cross sad and unhappy. She grew up without love because when she was ten years old, her parents died, also her parents did not love her very much. Then she moved to England to live with her uncle. She met Colin in England, He is Mr. Craven's son . He was also lonely chilled. His father was afraid of Colin because he is very similar to his wife. His wife died by an accident in the secret garden .So he still love his wife. So nobody did not go to the secret garden for ten years, but Mary found door and key to go to secret garden...
At first , almost character's personalities were awful, they had problem in their
minds. The beginning of story is very sad. Story starts to change when Mary went to
England and found the secret garden . Although Colin was really unhealthy boy, while
Mary was changing , people were changing around her . At last , Colin meets a person in
the secret garden ...
The book teaches us what is important. People need people , also people need to
help friends love. And nature heals people's mind, while we do not notice.
People should read this book who are tired in this world.

Summary: A Great All Time Classic
Review: My favorite book, I would have to say, is The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett. I like this book because you really never know what is going to happen next. There is a girl, Mary Lennox, who is an orphan because her parents died of the cholera disease. Since she has no other close family that she knows, she has to go live with her uncle. His very big house is called the Misselthwaite Manor. Mary finds this place to be kind of mysterious. Some nights she hears the sound of crying down the long, dark corridors. She gets out of bed, and she tries to find the room that it is coming from. Mary has no luck doing that, and she decides to go back to bed. She hears it again the next night, and she finds the room. In the room there is a young boy named Colin. He is always sick because he has a back problem. The reason he was crying is because his back hurts so bad that he can't go to sleep. Another reason why I like this book is because it has a great setting. They are out in the middle of nowhere. There are few trees and flowers. Best of all, there is the secret garden. She has no clue what is in it until one day when a little robin leads her to the key. Mary develops a good friendship with Colin, and she shows him the key. Then she decided to go in it. The secret garden has not been opened in a long time so it is kind of dead. I really like the ending of this book because everything turns out great. Colin gets a lot better, and he can finally walk out to the garden with Mary. They plow and plant flowers to make the garden beautiful. In the end Mary actually liked living in the Misselthwaite Manor. As you can tell, I really like this book, and these are just a few reasons why it ia my favorite.

Review: I loved this book as a girl, and still have my mother's copy. I've just introduced my nieces to the story, and they love it too.
This story has everything that's essential in a great children's book. The heroine isn't too sweet, in fact she can throw tantrums if she doesn't get her way. There are mysteries to be solved, the voice crying at night, the locked garden with no key.
The story of how Mary comes to be happy, along with the blooming of the neglected garden, and the saving of a father and son relationship, is wonderfully told. The characters are delightfully described, from Martha, Mary's "maid", to the mysterious Colin, imperial as a rajah, when he needs to be.
This is one of the few books that will help ease the "dry" spells between the releases of the Harry Potter books.

Is a history about children, is a history, magic when they are learned about friendships and perseverance.
All begin when Mary lived in the Indian whit your parents. Your father was worked to British Army, they are more social activities, and they're don't have time to share with your daughter Mary, very many British people lived in Indian, they are worked in the government, in the army, she though only about herself, no one love, Mary and Mary loved no one, she learnt that her father and mother were dead.
Mary had no family in Indian, so he went home to England to live with her uncle she is very unhappy and angry. Mary knew Mrs. Medlock , she had never see a child who sat so still and did nothing.
Mr. Craven uncle of Mary he never takes any notice of anyone, he's a strange man and he's (hunchback), his wife was a sweet pretty woman.
Mary had your servant; this servant whose name was Martha; Mary was not like the servant in Indian. Martha was very fanny, but Mary is very angry Martha had one young brother him name is Dickon, he was like the flowers, he was very pleasant as your sister, he went in to the garden too, she know Bean Weatherstaff and robin, he was gardener, he told her about the plants and flowers that she had found in the secret garden.
Robin is the friend of Ben; it is one bird very nice. Mary Knew your cousin Colin, he was unhappy because doesn't near father and him mother was dead, she was help her cousin Colin be happy.
I like these book, because is really good its was totally different, I can easy understand, is beautiful, the character is interesting, is one history very nice for my, I also recommend. READING IS NICE...

Summary: Childhood favorite
Review: I read Secret Garden, the unabridged version when I was a girl, and have never forgot the book. Little Mary, the ugly duckling became a dream figure, a little princess, with her own, very romantic garden.
Have read the book several times since then, and also seen the movie, and it is with great pleasure I read the book for my own girls. This short version, with illustrations by Tasha Tudor is a golden treasure. Not like the "real" story, the unabridged version, but a perfect start for a little girl to meet the story the first time. I recomend this book,it's fun and you are going to have a good time.
