Rating: Summary: One of my favorite childhood books Review: I first read The Secret Garden as a child. I loved the descriptions of the house, gardens and the Yorkshire moors. The author brought the land and the people alive for me. Her descriptions were so well done that I could almost taste the baked potatoes and muffins that the children ate. It was wonderful to see Mary and Colin grow emotionally and physically. I had fun trying to decipher Dickon's Yorkshire accent. I have reread The Secret Garden several times over the years, even in adulthood. I can't wait to buy this book for my nieces and nephews. I want to share the beauty of the book with them.

Rating: Summary: Misstress Mary Quit Contrary till she helps her cousin grow Review: Book Review I enjoyed The Secret Garden very much. It's about this girl, Mary, who is from India and who goes to stay with her uncle. Mary is very adventurous. She finds two really neat things to do with the garden. I could understand each thing and see every flower and animal that is being talked about. It is very well described. I would recommend this book for anybody to read.

Rating: Summary: Yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: We had to read this in class and it was very, very , very, very,(you get the point) boring. I was looking at the reviews that people gave it. How could you like this book. The average customer review and it was five stars. It should be more like 1 stars. I gave it 1 stars. The only part that was O.K. is when she is looking for the key. But the author makes it drag on so it isn't that good. I would recomed this book only to people who like very slow and boring books. My teacher said that she just loves this book, but it really stinks. I think this book should be banned from the whole world. I hope the author who wote this book will read this review.

Rating: Summary: NL- S Approved Review: The Secret Garden Frances Hodgson Burnett's book, The Secret Garden, is one of the greatest and most fun books I've ever read about how childrens' attitudes can change. The Secret Garden is a fabulous book that has an exciting and different feeling than other books. The characters involved are all very different and unique in their own way. Even though this story took place in the early 1900's, the characters can still be related to in this day and age. Their actions and attitudes resemble the same type of people around today such as the little girl Mary's stubbornness, the country boy Dickin's whole-heartiness, the house-keeper Martha's warmth, or the uncle's coldness. The story starts in the far off country of India, but it finishes in London. This book is great to read because of its ability to keep the story moving along in a sense that makes you want to keep on reading. The plot is set up so that you have to read till the end to find out what really happens, and the story progresses along up until the final page. Young as well as old people may find this book a great choice. The Secret Garden is pretty much for children above elementary school because of its text. This book has several words and phrases that may be difficult for younger children to comprehend. The length may also turn off younger readers, but if they were to start this book they would most likely want to finish it. Older people may enjoy this book because of the exciting plot and it's uniqueness. This book displayed the characters realistically, and the ending was great. Mary transformed from being the girl nobody wanted to be around, to a sweet, fun little lady. It showed how things can change, if you let them. Overall, it was very enjoyable, and I have read it many times over again.
