Rating: Summary: The Face on The Milk Carton Review: If you would like to read an outstanding novel, I recommend The Face on the Milk Carton. This story by Caroline B. Cooney leaves you wondering what happens next in the series. This cliff-hanging novel is about a fifteen-year-old girl who is determined to uncover her past. The main character Janie, one day discovers that she was kidnapped in a shopping center in New Jersey. She doesn't remember her past or who her real parents are. All of the trouble starts on a normal day during lunch. Janie's friends looked to see (as they did at the beginning of every week) what new picture of a kidnapped victim was on the milk carton. As she and her friends study the picture of the innocent three-year-old girl, Janie suddenly realizes that the little girl is her. Because the book is a cliff-hanger, it is exciting as well as mysterious. When Janie and her parents are trying to figure out who she really is, she becomes anxious. This also makes the reader anxious because you are so into the book that you feel as if you are Janie. So you feel anxious too. I couldn't put this wonderful novel down. It kept my interest from the very first sentence, to the very last word. In my opinion, the book was super and I would really like to read the sequel. Maybe if the sequel is good, I'll read the third book in the series.
Rating: Summary: The Face on the Milk Carton Review: This was one of the best books i have ever read! It kept me guessing what was going to happen next and everytime I started reading it i couldn't put it down. I was very surprised when i found out the truth about the kidnapping (I won't say anymore about that because i don't want to give away the story). I dont agree with some of the decisions Janie makes, but they just make the book better! I encourage EVERYONE to read this book! It is really great, so READ IT!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: This Book Takes Your Breath Away Review: This book follows the life of a girl named Janie Johnson. It all begins when she steals her friend Sarah-Charlotte's milk carton, even though she has a milk allergy. On the back of the milk carton is a picture of a kidnapped little girl. Seeing the face triggers memories...her memories of her life as that little girl. This book grabs your interest from the very beginning and as you read your heart races with the same fear, agony and angst that Janie feels herself. Caroline B. Cooney weaves a master tale that makes the most unlikely occurence seem probable. At the end, your breath is taken away all together and takes a long time to fully return. This book is highly recommended, but NOT for elementary school kids. 5 stars!!!!
Rating: Summary: Sympathy for Janie Review: One avarage day, while Janie Johnson is sitting in the cafeteria, she takes the milk carton of her friend, although she has an allergy against milk! Suddenly Janie looks into the face of a little sweet girl. "Have you seen this girl" was printed on the carton. The little girl, named Jennie Spring, has been kidnapped 12 years before. Janie can't take her eyes of the girl. Fear comes over her. She remembers this girl - it is she! But that can't be, her parents, who she loves, couldn't kidnappe her. Janie doesn't know anymore what she should think, nothing makes sense, so that she begins to search for all the answers to her questions! Step by step she finds more information with the help of Reeve, her boy-friend, but except for getting to know that her parents are her grandparents, and her mother is Hanna, the daughter of Janie's grandparents and who goes in a cult, some pieces of the puzzle of the true story are missing. Next Janie doesn't come away of the picture of Jennie Spring, because more and more memories run into her head, especially after the anonymous visiting at the Spring's house. Janie wants to forget all the story, but she can't manage it anymore! Finally Janie phones the Spings.I personnally believe the book is very easy to read and especially the whole Story of Janie is written so wonderfully, that I can only recommend and praise the book.
Rating: Summary: This book made Caroline B. Cooney my favorite author! Review: This was a great book! I couldn't put it down, and when i finished it, i had to buy the sequels to find out what would happen next. If you like books with mystery and suspense, you will probably like this book. If you read it,I hope you like it!
Rating: Summary: Teenager is confronted with her troubled past Review: 15-year-old Janie Johnson seems to be the average teenager -- wanting to get her driving-license, spending time with her first boyfriend Reeve, the boy from next doors, and day-dreaming about everything and nothing in particular. Then her whole world suddenly turns upside down when she looks at the portrait of a missing 3-year-old girl on a milk carton, recognizing the child as her younger self. Could it possibly be that it was she who was kidnapped 12 years earlier from a shopping mall in New Jersey? Janie is confused -- her parents are as loving as they could possibly be. Yet when she starts to investigate and reflect on things, she realizes that the kidnapping took place -- but who did it and why? While Caroline B. Cooney's plot idea is intriguing, her description of Janie's changing emotions sometimes doesn't ring true. All characters remain somehow remote and often wooden. The dialogues appear more to be lines in a play than real conversations -- everything is a bit too septic. Of course, a reason for that might be that "The Face On The Milk Carton" primarily aims at young readers. On the other hand, the author does a great job of describing Janie's memories of her former life -- her "daymares" of the kidnapping.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: This book is truly amazing! It can get a little confusimg at certan points, but really proves that a family is the people that love whether they are related to you or not.
Rating: Summary: Superb, Page turning Read Review: All I have to say about The Face On The Milk Carton is "wow!" Once I started this book, I just had to turn the page to see what heppened next. Face On the Milk Carton is not a boring book but at the end the whole concept is a little hard to understand. I read this book for a book report and I thought it was just a "work of art." The book starts out with the sentence "Janie finished her essay." Although it sounds a little bland, there is definitely more suprises to come! It turns out the Janie Johnson is called Jennie Spring... I dont really want to say anymore because it will give it away... All i have to say is, READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Face On the Milk Carton Review: What would you do if one day you were in a cafeteria with your friends and you saw your old baby picture on a milk carton saying you were missing? That is exactly what Janie Johnson is faced with in this wonderful book. Janie finds out that she was "adopted" by her "grandparents". This is untrue because she was actually stolen from a mall from her real family. Now she must make a choice. Should she search for her real family? All the while she is going through emotional teenage years. What will be the outcome? This book, though it may get dull in places, is a wonderful read. I urge you to read through it. The Milk Carton quartet is a excelent well planned series by Caroline B. Cooney. Though I must say her Time Quartet is much better.
