Summary: Cause we can't live without someone else...
Review: I first saw this book while searching for a new book to read, I saw the cover and I really wasn't interested, then i read a review and decied to pick it up, so I got the book an dstarted reading, this is an extrodinary book. It brings you straight into reality and what exactly is that really happens, this book is a story of 2 best freins who live to find life, they each go through life, not exactly knowing what they want, they make mistakes and learn from them, each is going through they're own dificulties. But soon after a tragedy strucks something else is found out. This new happening is what they needed to prove to themselfs that a relationship like there's is like no other. This book will make you see from someone who is faced with a lifetime of commitment, and making a choice, while also dealing with everything else as a teenager. This book is a must read for those of you that enjoy stories like these. I guess I can even say this one one of the best books I've ever read. It lets you in on someone else's life, something you can never really do.

Summary: someone like Jerry Falwell or Dr. Laura
Review: Someone Like You is an easy read, but the book promotes so many negative ideas about women that I found it hard to enjoy it. The book attempts to portray female friendship, and does a fairly good job of capturing the importance of friendship between young women. But Dessen severely punishes any character who has sex (fatal motorcycle accident, pregnancy) or even wants to have sex (car accident). Her blatantly regressive views on sex make this book more of a blanket treatise on why sex is bad and should not happen outside of traditional marriage. Dessen also incorporates extremely negative messages about body image into this novel, which are particularly damaging for young women. She is a talented storyteller, but her ultra-conservative, reactionary views render this novel more than repulsive; it is simply bad.

Summary: Someone Like You
Review: This book was an incredible tale of two best friends. The girls are so different that they make a perfect pair. Scarlett is the pretty and well known girl at school, where as Halley is more reserved and know as "Scarlett's friend". Halley gets called home from camp when Scarlett's boyfriend dies in an accident. She helps deal with the grief and becomes like a second mother when Scarlett finds out she's pregnant. Dessen does an unbelievable job of writing from a teen's point of view (Halley). Everything is so realistic, you would think a teen wrote it themself. When Halley meets Macon a rebelous, risk taking guy, her life begins to change. Dessen incorporates the hard choices like family, parties, drugs, alcohol, and sex into this story. Halley has to break away from her strict parents, and hide a lot from them, leading to a dangerous incident. Sometimes it takes a bad thing to make us realize what's important and who's there for us - Halley is a perfect example. Any teen who's experienced a first love will relate to this book. Sometimes guys aren't what we think they are! Dessen mixes humor with love and sadness all in one book. I recommend this book to any teenage girl. I know I couldn't put it down, and most teens have been through the exact situations in this book. You'll love it.

Summary: Beautiful
Review: This was a wonderful book. The plot was realistic, the characters someone you could meet anyhwere. It spoke to me of my own life, of issues every teenager goes through. It touches on growing independance, emerging sexuality, and the everlasting bond of friendship. I could feel the character's emotions, could understand what they were going through. This book is strangely addictive; perhaps because everyone who reads it will be able to find a bit of themselves somewhere in it. I never once found the characters naive or different from people in the real world. That's because this book *is* about the realy world, and always tells the truth. Great and well written, "Someone Like You" will be understood by anyone who is, was, or is going to be a teenager in today's world.

Summary: Wonderfully Written
Review: This book was one of the best I have ever read. Sarah Dessen's writing is convincing and insightful. She does a great job of writing from a teenagers' point of view. Dealing with the subjects of friends, love and teen pregnancy. This book reminded me of my best friend and I. Her, being the strong, outgoing one. Me, quiet, shy and laid back. This book is a must read for all teenagers.

Summary: Another Great Dessen Book!
Review: I love "Someone Like You" by Sarah Dessen. It is a great book about friendship, and how no matter how many struggles you go through, you will always have true friends.

Halley and Scarlett are best friends, they have known eachother ever since Scarlett moved into Halley's neighborhood when she was 11 years old. Ever since then, they have been inseprible, always there for eachother no matter what. In their Junior Year in High School, Scarlett's boyfriend Michael is killed in a motorcycle accident, and after a few months, Scarlett finds out that she is pregnant with Micheal's child. Scarlett and Halley need eachother now more than ever.

Now, Halley was always the quiet one, until this year, when she get's a boyfriend who just happens to have been Micheal's best friend, and Halley notices that when she is around him, she is a different person; more daring and not so shy anymore. But, through all that is happening, Halley and Scarlett still remember that friends will always be there for eachother, no matter what.

Summary: This is the best book I've read in my life!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Wow. This book was sooo good!! I didn't think Dessen could top That Summer, but she did!! The two girls in this book, who are the main characters, are best friends, and they are presented with many problems. It was sooo much fun to read about their friendship, because it was sooo strong, and they were so close. They both had guy problems, and it was great how they could talk about things, and solve problems together. The emotions in this book are so strong, and there were some parts that made me just laugh out loud, and I would read that part over and over again, because it was just hilarious. I think everyone should read this book. It might not be as enjoyable for boys, though, and due to some mature content, I don't think anyone under age 13 or so, should read it. It was soooo good!!!!!

Summary: Really Good
Review: This was a really good book. When I first bought it I still wasn't too sure about it but by the 2nd page I knew that it was a very good book. I love the way it was written and the story of one girl breaking out of her shell and another dealing with a death and a pregnancy. I recommend it for all teens.
