Rating: Summary: A very realistic book through the eyes of a 16 year old Review: Ms. Dessens style is wonderful, all the characters seem real and alive. I definitely recommend this book. It was a good interpretation of how a 16 year old deals with life, and the things that are in it. I couldn't put it down until I finished it and found out what happened to Halley and her friends
Rating: Summary: the book was great Review: I read Sarah Dessens other book That Summer and could not wait to read Someone like you. It was a great book and I recomend it to everyone. I read it and then reread it.
Rating: Summary: My fave book ever written Review: This is book is just so amazing. I've lost count of how many times I've read it. I can relate to the problems and choices Halley has to face. I remember the first time I picked it up, I literally could not put it back down. And each time I reread it, it never gets boring. I loved the way Sarah Dessen portrays Halley and Scarlett, pulling you into the novel with them, making you feel like you're there to witness everything. I can't wait to read more of her work! In one word...wow.
Rating: Summary: so great! Review: I admit, I'm a bit biased, seeing as the author is my cousin, but I would have loved the book anyways. She has such talent in writing about how teenagers feel--That Summer was a great book too. I reccomend her books to anyone who needs a great book. The characters are real, the emotions are even more real, and I just fell in love with this book. Read it!
Rating: Summary: Best book I've ever read Review: I was attracted to the book because of its cover, but the moment I started reading it, I was hooked. I read the book again and again, re-living Halley's dilemma and choices. A great book for any person. Congratulations to Ms Dessen for such a great book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: With that book I could relate. Things that happened in the book happened around me in real life. The plot, characters, and the overall book was real. It didn't seem made up. I would deffiently recommed this book to teenage girls. It was so good I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: a beautiful, truthful story Review: this book had to be one of the few books that actually made me feel. the characters were very realistic, not like some books. the plot was woven so perfectly, i couldnt put this book down until i finished it.
Rating: Summary: Best how to deal w/ life book Review: Someone like you was one of the best books that i have read, i bought it one day and finished it the next i just couldnt put it down..If you have ever wacthed the movie "how to deal" its pretty much copying that just leave out the divroced parents. Anyways this book is about these Two best friends Halley and Scarlett, scarlet unforutnly looses her love of her life to a motorcycle accident, and then ends up being pregnant w/ his baby.During all of this Halley seems to find her true love Macon who was micheals(guy who died) bestfriends..Im not gonan give you details b.c I wouldnt want to give away the book..but Im 14 and usually im not into reading books but this one was awesome and while ur out reading this one go and get the whole gossipgirl collection and sloopy first and second helpings!!! enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Sarah Dessen is AMAZING! Review: Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite writers of all time, her genuine voice, witty remarks, and spectacular talent make for some of the best chick lit around. Each of her novels is unique, with a special meaning and another beautiful tale. Her writing style is addictive and makes for a fast and captivating read. =) This is my personal favorite, as I can most identify with her character, it is both inspirational and empowering. I would recommend this to anyone! =)
Rating: Summary: a real story Review: I think i may be in the minority here, but i enjoyed Someone Like You much more then That Summer, even though i'm a fan of all of Sarah Dessen's books. i read Someone Like You a few years ago, and it always stuck with me. Hally's character was so real, the "good" girl who was just trying to experience her own life, and Scarlett, her strong willed pregnant best friend. It showed growing up in a light that wasn't scornful or biased or glossy - but as something that was confusing, flawed, and still altogther beautiful. Anybody who's going through it knows exactly what Hally is talking about when she talks about doing anything for Macon, being under her mother's thumb, and trying to fill in that outline of herself. I also saw the movie How To Deal, which i thought was enjoyable enough, but the ending completely changed the important conclusion with her and Macon in the book. I thought this book was touching, funny, and beautifully written. I've read many 'high school books' and this is one of the very few who manage to pull it off.
