Summary: Friends Til The End
Review: This book, "Someone Like You", is one of the best books I have ever read. It tells the story of two best friends, Halley and Scarlett during their junior year experiencing many difficult times as well as happy ones. At the beginning of the year, Scarlett discovers something that will change her life forever, and Halley is the only person that will stick with her throughout it all even though she is experiencing problems of her own, such as, her mother, her dad's embarrassing stories, her dying grandmother and her reckless boyfriend. The book is definitely worth reading, and its one of those books that once u pick up u can't put it back down! I loved it from the first page to the last and I can't wait to read other books by Sarah Dessen. So read "Someone Like You" and I'm positive you WON'T be dissappointed! Enjoy!

Summary: Stayed up all night to read it, says a Mom
Review: Someone Like You is one of the best young adult novels I have ever read. Since I'm the mother of a 14-year old daughter, I was most interested in that relationship, every moment of which struck close to home. Halley, the narrator of the story and only daughter in a close nuclear family, is taking her first steps away from the mother who was her best friend. Halley's friend Scarlett, whose own mother is young and single and whose father has never been in her life, is struggling with pregnancy and the death of her boyfriend and baby's father.

This book is beautifully written, making me cry in places, such as in the description of Halley's namesake comet. It's also funny, such as in the slow emergence of Vlad, Scarlett's mother's boyfriend medieval alter-ego(yes, I know some Vlad's). But the whole story rings with truth. Each character could be someone you know. And finally, not all the answers are easy; some of the problems remain unresolved; the characters' journeys have just begun.

Review: Someone Like You is a good read that really captured my attention. The themes are common for teenagers, and I believe that many can relate to this book. Halley is the main character, and she shares a strong friendship with Scarlett, her next-door-neighbor and best friend. Their friendship becomes stronger as they deal with Scarlett's pregnancy. I found this to be very touching because not many books are about a young teenage girl that is pregnant and accepts her responsibilities. Halley is struggling to find her place in the world, and gets involved with the wrong boyfriend, and even goes to drugs and alcohol to try and satisfy him and herself. She feels the distance between her mother and her growing, and she realizes that she has gone on the wrong path.
I gave this book 3 stars because I thought the book was well-written, but I had a hard time relating to Halley, whose actions were a bit harsh. Sometimes she was too rude to a mother that just wanted to help. Also, I would have liked the book to have been a bit longer- it stopped right in the climax of the plot.

Michael is dead, and Scarlett is pregnant, and Halleys life will never be the same! Her Mom, an "Understanding teens" writer stands in her way of doing what she wants, and everyone just won't leave her alone. Then she meets Macon (Michaels former best friend), a rebellious boy who is looking for trouble and adventure around every corner he lurks. Him and Halley begin dating, and she goes into a world she only dreamed about..Skipping class, having a few beers, and sneaking out at night to have fun with Macon, though her Mother greatly dissaproves. Review: Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't put it down. It is about a sixteen year old girl who finds out she is pregnant after her boyfriend passes away. The main character, Halley, keeps her pregnant friend Scarlett sane throughout her pregnancy. This is a story of true best friends going through what typical teenagers go through plus so much more. The author speaks in a way that isn't intimidating. She made me feel like I was part of the characters lives. I recommend this book for anyone, especially teenagers who think life is starting to get rough. This is one of the best books i have ever read.

Review: Someone Like You

For anyone who likes books for teenagers our age, Someone Like You, by Sarah Dessen is an excellent book to satisfy your cravings. This is an exciting story about friendship, hardships, love, and hate.
The main character, Halley, tells the story of her life for about a one-year period. They live in a small town with many neighbors. Her best friend, since she was five, lives right across the street. Her name is Scarlet, and she is a very active and daring girl.
Halley is now a junior at her school, and has to deal with so many new things. A new boyfriend who is kind of mysterious, a mother who's trust is gone, her grandmother is old and dying, and to top it all off Scarlet has something very unexpected happen to her that can change her life forever.
I liked the way that the author used sensory language to make your senses come alive. For example, Halley worked in a grocery store. When the author explained a fruit, she used such great detail that you could almost taste it. It was like you were sitting right there, watching everything that was happening. She also gave clues or foreshadowed as to what was going to happen in the future. The author wrote things at the end of each chapter... "Little did I know that the worst was yet to come." This way you could kind of guess what was going to happen next. Everything about this book just made you get caught up reading it.
This book was so good, I had a hard time putting it down. I was up until eleven o'clock at night, I just couldn't stop reading. I guarantee that anyone who reads this book won't want to put it down.
Other books by Sarah Dessen are That Summer, and Keeping the Moon. I have yet to read them, but I can't wait until I do!

Summary: Must Read!
Review: "Someone like you" is a book about two best friends, Halley and Scarlett. Things get complicated with their friendship when Scarlett finds out she is pregnant. What's worse is the young teenager's boyfriend dies in a fatal motorcycle accident just days before Scarlett finds out she is pregnant. The book shows how even through dificult times true friends will always stick together and be there for one another. The book also showed a teenager's point-of-view of parenting and how parents react to shocking news such as this pregnancy.
The novel was very appealing to me because it was very realistic. It is very up to date with todays culture. It was writeen very well and is a great read. The book definetely kept me on the edge of my seat. I read the entire novel in one night because i just couldn't bring myself to put the book down.
This book will probably be most appealing to young teenage girls. It deals with many issues that young girls are facing today! I definetly reccommend this book! It is a MUST READ!
