Rating: Summary: The Blue Sowrd Review: I am a huge fan of Robin McKinley!! I bought this book and let it stay on my shelf for a time but, when I actually read it I fell in love with this book. This has got to be the best book that she has written and I look foward to reading more of her books.
Rating: Summary: Legends, Magic, Fate and so forth Review: This book is fantastic (no pun intended). The first few chapters is a little slow as it's mostly homelander politics and the sort and your itching for the action that that know is to come but it explains alot. Harry is a heroine who can't be matched. I don't like to refer to her as a character but she's so perfectly human you never doubt she's not real. The rest of the book flows the same. Corlath's believable because for all he looks great and mighty and most often lives up to that he's still human, a great one no doubt but human. I know how Harry feels. When it comes to the plot find out for yourself (who wants to read the book after they've been told the whole plot?). As the action speeds up Corlath's convinced everyone else she's a Damalur-sol but can she convince herself?
Rating: Summary: A terrifc tale of a heroine and her quest Review: Robin McKinley's "The Blue Sword" is an amazingbook! When I first read it I was unable to put the book down and I now own it so that I can read it as often as I can. She created a world and a race of people that are as unique as her writing capabilities! If there were more stars to give then I would give them all to such a wonderful tale!
Rating: Summary: Never underestamate! Review: When I first got my hands on this book, I had just finished reading the prequel, The Hero and the Crown, and I was scrambling to read more of this amazing story. My first impressions of the Blue Sword left me dissapointed. It was from another time period, there was a new character, etc, but as I got deeper into the story, I realized that my previous judgement was sorely mistaken and I couldn't put the book down. It was amazing! The 2 books rival each other to be the best of the series. If you are a fantasy, adventure, or romance fan, you definitely should give the series a try!
Rating: Summary: The best book I ever read! Review: I am an avid reader of sci-fi/fantasy and I am completly serious when I say this is the best book I have ever read. The detail, the wonderful characters, I would suggest this book to anyone. The adventures of Harry Crewe will inspire your imagination. Her story of becoming the hero of the magic land of Damar is fascinating.
Rating: Summary: Better than the first book. Review: Harry is different than most of the girls around town, but she never knows just how different until she meets King Corlath. And then later on when Corlath kidnaps her. That is when the book gets unbelievably great. You should really buy this book. It was so good that I finished it in a few hours, and then read it over again.
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK THAT EVER WAS! Review: This book was something that had me dreaming about its content. I LOVED it, the characters are easy to understand and the magical touch in it is totally amazing. Corlath is a really cool character, I like him alot...I like Harry too, she's perfect for a Lady Hero. The way she adapts and learns to cope with her situation is very...er...what's the word? Intigueing (I think that's how you spell it...) I am definately going to read and reread this book over and over and over and over again. It's REALLY cool!~`~Satan's Vixxen~`~
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all time Review: The Blue sword has been my favorite book since I first read it over ten years ago. Even now, after a particularly long week in the office, I find myself pulling it out to escape for a while in the hills of Damar. I look forward to having a 12-year-old to loan it to... and since I've successfully read the covers off of my poor copy, I'm coming back to buy the hardcover!
Rating: Summary: Still wonderful after many re-reads Review: This book and another book by this author, "Beauty," are among the most satisfying modern fiction books I have ever read. I have read both many times with undiminished pleasure, and I have given them to close friends and family with gratifying results. Strangely, these are excellent as young adult books--especially for girls--but are also superb reading for an adult. Besides telling irresistable stories, they share an underlying conviction that daring and commitment can prevail without sacrificing human warmth and integrity. When I am feeling a bit battered by events, these are among the books I can pull out to refresh myself.
Rating: Summary: The Blue Sword Review: Harry goes through many struggles in The Blue Sword and she remains strong and true to her vision throughout. She accepts her role as King's Rider with dignity and just a little wariness. If you like reading about worlds just a little different from your own this is the beeo for you.
