Rating: Summary: The Seventh Tower The Fall a review by Katie Review: In the first book The Seventh Tower, The Fall by Garth Nix Tal finds out by Lector Roum that his father is believed to be dead. Tal can not believe what he is hearing. Tal's family, but most of all him needs a Sunstone. Sunstones are important for everyone especially for the Chosen ones. Chosens must be able to get a Primary Sunstone to get a shadowguard in Aenir. It is a very difficult trip and highly dangerous. Since Tal's father is gone it is up to him to retrieve a sunstone. His mother Gail, and his brother and sister Gref and Kusi are counting on him. On the way to getting a sunstone Tal is climbing the Red Tower and spots many sunstones. He is now in the veil and knows how dangerous it is. The veil was built by Chosens to protect all the people from the close sun. Tal sees many sunstones but they are far too small. A Primary would normally be in the middle of all the sunstones. Tal meets a spiritshadow called the Keeper. The Keeper looks like a snake, all long, smooth, and twisting, but extremely frightening. Tal gets so scared and he falls. Who knows what he will face? He will be outside of the Towers and his world. But most of all he could get lost. Then he would be lost forever, just like his dad. To find out if Tal makes it back to the Towers you'll have to read this great book by Garth Nix!
Rating: Summary: Great Teen Fantasy Review: I've read nearly all of Garth Nix's books and The Seventh Tower series is definately my favorite. Although not quite as deep or as Sabriael or Shade's Children, and considerably less dark and violent, The Fall and the rest of the series provide a fantastic adventure and a good story set in a fascinating fantasy world. There we meet Tal, a boy in a world of endless darkness. Living in a massive castle, he, like all others, must learn how to use the magic of light and shadow both for recreation and survival. However, his world is quickly shattered when his father mysteriously disapears and his mother falls deathly ill. Setting out alone to find a primary sunstone to save his mother, Tal leaves his castle world and discovers places and people he never knew existed At first his only goal is to return home but, over the course of the series, events spiral out of control as Tal and his new friends find themselves trapped by a deadly plot formed by an evil that seeks not only to destroy them but the entire world as well... If you like fantasy this is one not to miss.
Rating: Summary: Game of Beastmaker Review: Tal's father is missing, his mother is very sick, his little brother, though wanting to help, finds more trouble than solutions, and his baby sister doesn't understand anything that is going on. It's up to Tal to take care of his family, which means aquiring a Sunstone. Tal doesn't understand why Shadowmaster Sushin, who seems to hate Tal with a vengeance, finds such satisfaction in making every single one of Tal's attempts to obtain a Sunstone unsuccessful. I was completely enthralled with Tal's world: The hierarchy of "better than" and "less than" social codes that the people have to live under at times made me cringe - it seemed so unfair... the crystal woods, where Tal is tricked into competing musically, is amazing... the game of Beastmaker, between the Empress's guard and Tal will give you front-row seats to a battle you'll not soon forget. Then suddenly Tal is no longer in his familiar world - while trying to steal a Sunstone from the top of the Red Tower, he falls... he soon finds himself at the mercy of one who would rather see him dead than to be in the same room as he is. Will he ever make it back home?
Rating: Summary: A little strange Review: Review by Zach Tal, young boy from the orange order of the towers, is just trying to make it through life in these hard times. His father has disappeared, his mother is sick, and he has to take care of his younger brother and sister. Tal is also a member of the chosen, a large group of powerful people in the towers. He has to go to the spirit land to get a shadow, but he doesn't have a sunstone. He goes to great lengths to find a sunstone and on his way gets lost. This is a great story. It is very well written and very easy to read. By that I mean it flows very well and it doesn't leave you wondering about things. It is very complete and descriptive. You can really see what the author is writing. It is also a fun book to read and full of all kinds of action; especially when Tal meets up with the Hunting group the Icecarls. It is jam packed with all the adventure and excitement you could ever want in a book. The only part I did not like was that it got a little strange for my liking in some places. All in all it is a great book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a not so hard book to read. Also is you like fantasy. If all of these meet you liking than this book is definitely for you.

But when they escape danger lurks right around the corner. They go through things you cant imagine. Rating: Summary: Great beginning Review: This book was the beginning of a great series. After I read it, I was desperate to go and buy the second book, because this one ended as a cliffhanger. The story was set in a fantasy world, and the whole world is covered in a dark veil. Now that was very interesting when I read about it. A boy thought the castle he lived in IS the world, till he was blown by the wind to somewhere far from the "world" he knew. However, the boy was destined to change the way everything is now, although he was not aware of it. I recommend you to buy this book, and if you don't like it, you don't have to read the others in the series, but I think you will.
Rating: Summary: Awesome, Lots of thrills Review: This is the first of Garth Nix's books I have read and I have to say I am very impressed by his style of writing. The plot grasps you right from the beginning and winds an excellent story. The Plot is about a boy named Tal who is of the orange order. His father has been missing on a mission for the empress. His mother is very ill with a sickness that no one in the castle can heal. Tal has to look after the family because his father is missing. Also there is this dedline that Tal has to get a thing called a sunstone which is a light that can be used as healing and as attacks. Tal has to get one of these to go through a gateway into another world to get a spiritshadow. If he does not get a sunstone then he will be demoted and become a servant. If you want to find out the rest about this amazing book then I suggest you buy it or go to the library and pick it up. Thanks for your time.
