Summary: l.j. smith or something like it???
Review: Well, If you've ever read L. J. Smith's Nightworld Series (Or any of her books) you'll see such a striking similarity between the characters of Rhodes and the characters of smith...even though imitation is flattery who wants to read it. Props to the young writer but the editorial review had it wrong the characters were never anne rice-esque to begin with they all resembled something from a Smith novel...this could be Night World the Hunter.Shattered Mirror was alot like Vampire diaries. All the wiches and their organizations which*ahem* is odddly similiar to Circles Daylight, midnight and twilight. The list goes on...I'm sure that one day she will turn out something original, as she is a growing writer, and i'm excited for THAT book. Until then...

Summary: SOS! Run for your lives!
Review: Same Old Story. The formula is very simple, though, as you can see; it's almost like a beginning algebraic equation. Take a Good Looking Tough Girl Wannabe + Handsome, Yet Sarcastic Vampire Dude + A Super Weak "Bad Guy" + High school (or something else stupid) + A Bunch of Plotholes + A Plethoa of Big Words that Don't Really Tie In With The Novel + A Bad Plot = An AAR book. Long formula, I guess, but very easy to understand, if you know what I mean.

What I'm getting at is that this girl, while she may not be a bad writer, doesn't live up to her potential. Forests was a decent book, given she was only 13 when she wrote it. But her works just went downhill. I hated Demon in my View, fell asleep during Shattered Mirror, and was utterly disgusted by this one. It makes me wonder just how much time she puts into these novels. She seems to just rush through them without any thought or care. I have a feeling she just sends out whatever just for the sake of being published, and that just doesn't work.

Now back to this book: The characters were so 2D and flat, I couldn't even finish this book. I seriously couldn't. It was one of the worst books I ever read. They were all the stereotypical teens that you'd find on Dawson, Buffy, or one of those other god-awful teenybopper shows. The only people who will enjoy this are teenies or people who don't know what a good book is. The Midnight thing was stupid, and no, Turquoise wasn't an assassin. She was a vampire slayer...OOPS, I mean, hunter.

I just will be happy the day she finally comes out with something that she put time into. I heard that she never outlines or anything, which would be the reason why her books are so jumbled and don't make sense.

Go read Catcher in the Rye or The Martian Chronicles if you want something good.

Summary: *Midnight Predator*
Review: I think this is the best book that Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote so far.

About a girl named Turquoise Draka, and her rival, Ravyn Aniketos, who are on a mission to destroy Jeshickah, the original ruler of Midnight. Midnight is a vampire realm, and the only way to get in is by selling themselves in as human slaves. Helped by several companions; they manage to get into Midnight, but Turquoise's main obstacle is someone that she would of never thought would befriend her.

I won't tell anymore, but you should defiantly read this, even if you're not the vampire/witch kind of reader...

Summary: Another Clone...
Review: Sadly, this book disappointed me. It really did, why does she overuse the same characters. It's really the reason not many serious critics give her credit, hell, they don't even bother to look at her books.

The thing that bugged me about it was the assassin thing. Does Amelia even know what a an assassin does? They don't play dress up and go undercover like a reporter or cop. What was with the whip? Whips do barely any good use.

As for the storyline, there wasn't one. She never came out with the objective. She never does and that's what [ticking] off a lot of people who don't appreciate her work. They are also getting sick and tired of the callous and lonely lead female. For once Amelia could come up with something original.

It's sad and despressing. All her books have the same endings with no actual conclusion. Need I say more?

Summary: Good, but there's one problem.
Review: I'll admit that I didn't buy this book; I read it in a bookstore when I had a few hours to kill. And frankly, I'm glad I didn't spend money on it, however much Amelia improved. Don't get me wrong, I like her writing style and I think she has potential to get up to Anne Rice's level when she grows older, but there were a few things about this book that bothered me. First off, she really needed to work on the setting better. Like others said, it didn't sound very much like a slave house. She should have made the conditions bad so we could believe it to be a slave house. And secondly, the cover? That kinda turned me off, because you would imagine Turquoise to look like a girl and not like...a man. Sorry, but the cover wasn't that great and the person didn't fit anybody in the book. Other than that, she has shown improvement and I admire her for trying hard. But she really needs to work on setting. It's important. Same thing goes for character development. ...

Summary: The best vampire auther
Review: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are amazing; they seem so real and believable that sometimes I wonder if she's a vampire herself(which I mean in the nicest way!)! I hope she never stops writing. Her stories truely reach out to you and draw you in; making you want to join the main character and their journey through the world of the undead.
About the book: it's about a vampire hunter who must work with her rival to kill the ruler of midnight. I'll say nothing more i don't want to spoil it for you!
People who say Amelia can't write must be crazy! She's absolutly amazing, and don't let anyone else tell you anything different!
Hope you like it!

Summary: Great book but..Plaugurisim?
Review: Ok I love Amelia's books as much as the next person, and two days ago I happened to get both Midnight Predator out and L.J.Smiths The Chosen.
IT was then I noticed the simalarities between the two. The main characters: Turquoise (Midnight Preator) is a human HUNTING VAMPIRES. Just like Rashel (The chosen) both have trained since they were young, beacuse when both Turquoise and Rashel were little they witness they're Mom and little bother mudered by a vampire. AND Rashels little borther is 5 and called TIMMY, while Turquoise is 5 and called TOMMY.

Also both sneak into a Vampires Lair type thing, pretending to be captured slaves, to kill vampires.

They're just too alike to be mere coincidence. AND since Amelia admits to reading L.J.Smiths books, and The chosen was written first..well, you figure it out.

Summary: A clone of her other novels
Review: Why is it that everyone has the same personality?

Why is the leading female always a mean tough-girl wannabe?

Why doesn't the villain ever die?

Why is the objective never taken out?

Never a conclusion?

All her characters look like models?

All are cliched loners with no actual reasons behind their need to be alone?

These are questions you ask yourself, if you closely pay attention to her last novels, but most importantly this one.

Amelia brings us into the world of Midnight (don't ask me what possessed her to name the slavehouse that). It is poorly done, especially in the world of assassins. Does she even know what an assassin is?

I prefer hunter, assassins go undercover, for like a short amount of time. They are sneaky and pounce on their prey under sudden attacks. She holds no traits of a real assassin.

The saddest thing is. Her characters are unrealistic and have no true originality. If you read closely to most of her books, they resemble plots already used by Pike and Smith.
